Shanahan, when asked on his thoughts about Bradford, McCoy, etc since the trade: Phillip Rivers didn't start till his 3rd year, Aaron Rodgers as well... you don't usually bring in a rookie to start.. the "perfect situation" would be to bring in a young QB to back up

he didn't say a high pick.. but yeah

I think we're two or three years away from considering a serious QB prospect.

What would you guys think if Shanahan drafted Jimmy Clausen with our first round pick?

That would be a WTF moment for me... And I wouldn't be able to get over it unless Jimmy Clausen turned out to be the franchise quarterback we needed all along.

We are trading for Sage Rosenfels I believe.

They should bring back Mark Brunell so that he can finish his career as a redskin. They are talking right now about Jacksonville signing him to a 1 day contract, but seriously Brunell has a house here in Great Falls and he could be a good backup for 1 season.

If we trade down a bit that might work.. but who knows if Seattle or somebody would pick him up.

As Smoot has reported there are some trade rumors about us bringing linemen in. As long as we get them in, I'll be fine. If we think that we can have a solid O-Line and have a better chance at QB this year with our draft position I can understand that, can't have a 1 year strategy.

We don't need two mediocre-at-best old guns to backup McNabb. Can Brunell even run anymore?

Having an 8.1 average in a passing offense is pretty damn good if you ask me.

If we traded down, picked up multiple day 1 and day 2 picks and selected Jimmy Clausen (among other players) sure that'd be fine by me.

Not sure how much McNabb would like that though :)

I think what will more realistically happen is our 4th or 5th round selection will be a QB

So at #4 I am predicting a safety!!! How you get steamrolled by Jacobs and then come back the next season with a tongue ring.

Good presser, McNabb saying all the right things. I like that he's already working out with the team.
kind of skirted the question about us being his 1st choice
He also didn't give a definitive answer regarding an extention, but the answers he gave to most of the reporters questions were no nonsense.

I thought it to be coincidental McNabb responded to a reporters question about a burden being lifted as a result of the trade. His response was exactly what I thought he was going to say, what burden?......I've never felt any burden.

What O?

Re: McNabb Press Conference Thread

On JT show.
McNabb saying that he can help the O-line by releasing the ball sooner to stave off the blitz.
McNabb giving an example of establishing running the ball helping out the O. Run for 3, 5, 8 yds and then 25yds, and then hit them with a screen because the LBs are going into the holes. Then the play action action game opens up.

McNabb trying to defend JC. Says that he's actually smart. Then says all qbs are smart. Says he'll flourish with his next opportunity because he knows what's on the line.

McNabb also said he told the guys(unnamed WRs) lets get on the field and throw and their response was "I'm there" I may not have the exact quote, but sounds like he is trying to get out there with our receivers. That's gotta be a good thing.

That's impossible. Everyone knows quarterbacks have no effect on the offensive line. It's only the other way around.
That's impossible. Everyone knows quarterbacks have no effect on the offensive line. It's only the other way around.
Only if you're someone like Gtripp who thinks JC is just fine at that skill. IMO, there are a lot of QBs better than Campbell at applying that skill.
