SKINS WIN, as already predicted!

Redskin insider, light practice today everyone present.

Sidenote: Brian Billick in the house?

Practice Is Light, with All Accounted for

Here's what we can report from the first 10 minutes of practice (it's a light one, with players in shorts and pads): It appears that everyone is present, according to Jason Reid, and that includes Ladell Betts. He was excused from practice yesterday because of a death in the family. For what this is worth, Reid reports that Brian Billick is at Redskins Park today.

Dan Steinberg reports on what is the real issue in the Redskins' locker room: politics.

And Barry Svrluga, new dude on the beat, checked in today with a piece on Clinton Portis.

Billick must be doing color for Fox for this game. I listened to him a little bit on the TB/NO game last week.. He's not bad, not great, but not bad.

I don't know guys. Even with this game at FedEx I don't have a "warm-fuzzy" in favor of the 'Skins.

I said it last week and still stand by it today for this weeks game. In order for the 'Skins to win, the defense simply has to generate points off of turnovers.

Saints: 28
'Skins: 10

If Springs was shelved again for a 2nd week in a row, I'd have less confidence. However, the Front 4 will be lacking a key cog (Taylor at 100%), and will have problems putting pressure on Drew Brees. The defense needs to continue to step up.

The Saints defense did give up oodles of yards to the Bucs, including 146 on the ground. But, Portis/Betts isn't putting much fear into opponents thus far, and Campbell looks like prey on the plains, waiting to be picked off by neighboring lions, tigers, hyenas, buffalo, etc.

As much as I'd like to use 6 of the last 7 home openers to my advantage, I just can't this week.

Saints 24
Redskins 9

I think the intangibles will actually boost the Skins to one of their only wins in the first few weeks of the season.

The defense will be strong, and the o will do enough to win.

Final score:

Skins 16-13.

Wow it has that Suisham missed a Field Goal and an Extra Point. Guess we have to start looking for a kicker now.

Skins Offense turns the corner and makes it look easy against a beat up Saints Defense. Skins Defense is stifling...Skins over Saints 30-13.

I just can't believe that the Skins will lose the home opener looking at an 0-2 hole with the upcoming schedule. This team will step up.
It is early in the season and I think that our defense can hold their offense to under 20 points. Their backfield isn't like the Giants where you basically have a lineman in the backfield plowing his way into our defensive secondary. I like our chances, but we really need this game to protect our homefield advantage. That being said, we will be getting harder challenges from teams like the steelers and the browns where we may lose those games and it will be imperative to stay afloat in the NFC playoff chase.
YOu know that will be huge, They don 't have rb's who can run us over. Duece probly won't play much, Without Colston we can concertrate more on the run. And we should be able to run, The bucs did and their O-line sucks. That will open up the passing game perhaps giving JC some confidence to carryover in the coming wks. Go SKINS! 23-10

No one fears Portis thats rediculous 84 yrds with no kinda passing game going against the best D-line in ftball. I tell you who no one fears Ernest Grahm and the Bucs O-line. We should run it straight up their ass

Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
did you watch the saints game last week? this isn't the same old defense. the additions of vilma, ellis, mccray, glenn and others have brought a new found and very welcomed attitude to the d. they will get in your face and knock you down. don't expect too have a easy go at it like normal.

1. i doubt yall will be able to get too drew without blitzing. we have a great pass blocking line (fewest sacks given up past 2 seasons) and drew is very very aware. yall will have to send the occasional blitz too get too drew.

2. again, this is nolonger a mediocre defense. they will be in the redskins face all game long. the corners will stay glued to the recievers, and campbell will spend the day on the ground.
but i'm yet too figure out why the corners play so far back on 3rd down???

The Saints D gave up a lot to a mediocre Bucs offense. This bodes well for us since we don't have all cylinders firing yet. Even if our offense doesn't play their best, they should still be able to put up points. Earnest Graham, Warrick Dunn and Jeff Garcia ran for 146 yards! Garcia also threw for 221 wit a TD. Garcia was even playing through an injury and is benched for Week 2! :D
I told you.

Not really... I'm very glad to be proven wrong.

Is stuff like this really necessary though?

I don't recall the poll results of the week 1 predictions being shoved back in the faces of those that said the Skins would win.

Sure! Picking against the Skins on a Redskins site should be punished.

We should start a fund so those with no sense of humor can buy one. :)

Hey, I wasn't miserable. The D looked good (only gave up 1 TD to the SB champs) and I knew the offense would take a few weeks to get on track since Zorn didn't use the whole playbook in preseason. I had no idea we'd open things up in Week 2. Pleasantly surprised.

Optimism > Pessimism ;)
