Forget TO. Snyder should cut a deal for McNabb!

Re: Redskins Interested in TO
No way. I can't see anything but drama with TO, wherever he goes...

Re: Redskins Interested in TO
comcast said that the redskins have no intrest, that it may just be rosenhaus trying to make teams think that they need to bid higher for t.o.
Comcast also quoted a Redskins statement that said(paraphrase) "While we respect TO's abilities, he doesn't fit in with what we are trying to do here. We are not interested". The source of that public statement also mentioned that in their final wrapup personell meeting before taking time off TOs name was never mentioned. This isn't happening guys. |
Re: Redskins Interested in TO
I don't think we should get TO, but if Gibbs decides to take a shot, I'll support him (highly unlikely).
But I do think whichever team he goes to, he'll have a good first year cause I think his contract will be built heavily on incentives. And if he screws up a third time, I don't see many teams going after him. But I can't help but imagine what Moss, Owens, Portis would be able to accomplish....course there's only one ball. |
Re: Redskins Interested in TO
i like keyshawn. he will do all the dirty work to move the chains. plus, he had something like 1 or 2 fumbles his entire career. he is a team player despite his hysterics
the hysterics where he calls out his QB and tells you to selfishly give him the ball? he's not a team player and he's not even that good. |

Re: Redskins Interested in TO
I hadn't realized that he King wrote this in his "Things I Think" section. He also thinks Walter Jones has the biggest head he's seen and last year he thought Seattle and Jacksonville would meet in the playoffs (he was a year off with Seattle)
Point is, it's just his opinion. |
Re: Redskins Interested in TO
he'd be old and expensive, I think we're going to see the same thing as the last two years, young guys ready to step up. building for the future and all that. short contracts and super expensive players will just force releases next year.

Re: Redskins Interested in TO
Coles and Gardner did not like the run-based offense that Gibbs loves. They left and Santana was a steal compared to "bum toe" Coles. But we do need 2 WRs, anyone who runs a 4.3 or faster and whose name is not Terrell Owens. This guy would make Gibbs lose his marbles on a daily basis. He will probably end up in Denver, Oakland, or Atlanta, but I seriously doubt he'll be a Redskin. Amen.

Re: Redskins Interested in TO
This is a quote from an article in todays Wahington Post
"The Redskins are in the market for another wide receiver. But numerous team sources asked about Owens during the season and again Wednesday said he has never been the subject of personnel meetings and that no one has discussed signing him. Universally, they have said he is not the kind of player Gibbs is building the Redskins with, and would not fit with the club." |

If anybody out there actually thought for a second that the Redskins would go after TO, I'll forgive you for temporarily forgetting who Joe Gibbs is and what he's all about. :) |
Re: Redskins Interested in TO
No way would TO be a good fit for this team. Joe has worked so hard in getting the individuals out of here. We have so much team chemistry and comradory now that it would be rediculous to risk that for 1 person. I dont care what TO agreed to or said, he is what he is, and that is a hell of a receiver with a hell of a personality problem. He has to be man, he has to be #1 and its not going to happen in washington. We have alot of guys that would be #1 guys, that accept the role of the team, FINALLY. You can run names off of guys that would be stand out personalities on other NFL teams, but they sit back and the team is first, and Joe and staff is who to thank for that. In my view TO is not worth any risk, I dont care how good he is. Like he said. "if it looks like rat, smells like a rat, well it probably is a rat" This guy is a New York City sewer rat!!

Just because St. Joe says it does not mean its true. |
Re: Redskins Interested in TO
I know it would pain you if your prediction didn't come true, irish, but all signs seem to point to this being very unlikely.
The Skins would have to move alot of cap room very quickly, TO isn't a player anyone would confuse as being a Gibbs' type of player, why would the Eagles want to trade him within the division, and this type of thing happens every offseason... when haven't the Redskins been mentioned whenever there's a big name player available? |

I think T.O. is getting somewhat of a bad rap. While I think he's ultimately resposible for what has happened to him, the media has done it's part in blowing everything out of perspective. Many of the comments made, especially the one about Brette Farve, came unsolicited. If you follow the flow of some of those interviews, some of those questions were staged. Now, I'm not running to T.O.s defense I just don't think he's totally to blame here. That along with Drew Rosenhaus stringing him along is a bad mix. |
Re: Redskins Interested in TO
When we don't sign TO I have a special "Pwned" sign that I want to make.
|
Re: Redskins Interested in TO
Linking TO to the redskins is just lazy reporting. Dan Snyder is always the easy target whenever a high profile player is available. When are these clowns going to realize that even if Dan did want TO...Dan does not decide what players play for the Redskins anymore. Joe Gibbs does...
Anyway...Dan Snyder has not chased big names in about 5 years now. What a lazy piece of reporting by Peter King... |

If we sign TO, the media scrutiny of him will come with it. The media is not going to stop hanging on his every word, and the media will continue to hold his feet to the fire on even the most insignificant comments. If you sign Owens, you're not just bringing in the player. You're bringing in all the same circumstances that caused the ruckus in Philly: TO and the media scrutiny. |

Anyone who says the Skins are interested in Owens has not paid nearly enough attention to the changes that have taken place in the Skins' front office. This is just another example of why national media members cannot be relied on for any in-depth reporting or analysis. They have to cover all 32 teams and can't cover any single team with any depth whatsoever. The only result is shallow reporting on 32 different teams. |

The guy is a major headcase and whoever picks him up will have a ticking timebomb on their hands, it's not a question of if he'll implode again but when. |

Unfortunately, you're right. What's really sad is that most of the people that you hear speak about him on a personal level feel that he's a really good dude. This whole thing with him has turned into a vicious, never ending cycle of hoopla that will surely distract any team. I really hope he can get his career back on track. |
Re: Redskins Interested in TO
TO could easily end all the hoopla surrounding him by simply not talking to the media.
Everytime he does he sticks his foot squarely in his mouth... so why not just shut the hell up and stop playing the innocent victim routine? |

Re: Redskins Interested in TO
I'm glad that the Redskin organization has officially stated that the Internet rumors of the Redskins being interested in Terrell Owens are false. Gibbs has stated that Terrell Owens is not the type of player the Redskins are interested in. Let TO screw up someone else's team. I hope the Cowboys sign him.

I think the media plays a role in blowing his comments out of proportion, but at the same time he's still dumb enough to make those comments in the first place. Someone his age should realize that the media's going to blow things out of proportion, and that he needs to watch what he says because it's going to get scrutinized. But he still does what he wants anyway. When it comes down to it, he's still a selfish jerk. I personally hope he never plays football again. You can be a great guy to be around, but if you're going to make negative comments in the media about a teammate, I don't want you in my locker room. |

Re: Redskins Interested in TO
Anyone who thinks TO would be good for the Skins needs to read this. This link http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2315565 ought to give you a good picture of the dysfunction that he causes within a locker room. I dare say that the Eagles might be irreparably damaged in the chemistry department. McNabb is is obviously mindful that not one guy stood up for him and in fact several stabbed him in the back. If TO can capture the minds of teammates enough to poison them against one of the classiest and top QBs in the game then why the hell would we think anyone is going to be able to control this pile of sh*t? Let him rot another team somewhere else.

Re: Redskins Interested in TO
I might suggest that rumors of interest in Owens may be floated out there so the organization can help Drew Rosenhaus.
Why would we do that, you ask? His client list includes Portis, Moss and Taylor. All three of these players are likely candidates for restructuring at some point in their careers with the team. Good will is priceless. |
