you know that major leaguers are playing on every nation's teams right? not just the US team. I fail to see how a single baseball game has anything to do with the CFL though. I mea, your hockey team choked hard at the olympics, so obviously all your football players must be crap, right?
Umm actually I am pretty sure that the USA was only slightly favored to win. Both the Dominican Republic and Venezuela have quality pitching staffs that an even out any offensive disparity. And being a guy brought up on baseball I can atest that a baseball game is much easier to win when you are outclassed skill wise than a football game is. Your point has no merit.
By the way, where the hell do you get off trying to convince anyone that baseball is much easier to win than football. Where did you get that idea from?

For your information. may of the CFL players are from the USA; therefore all your football players must be crap.

All you need to know about Canada is that their figure skaters had to cry and whine to get a gold medal.

Kurt Angle won one with a broken neck.

One more for the good guys....

I guess the most intelligent answer would be to say "Blow Me". In French that means "I have no answer for you because I worship a maple leaf".

I have come to accept that one has to fight fire with fire. So, when I am confronted by a bozo I have to resort to things that a bozo can understand. I guess I am just trying to fit in with you.

way to not read my post. the correct retort you'd actually be trying to make is "most of the CFL players play in the NFL" if you really understood it. that obviously isn't true. beyond that the cfl teams have a % that must be canadian anyways. nice try though.

I don't think grim21reaper is really at fault here.

armchairjock, you love your country. That's great. But is your only purpose on this board to just come on an stir US vs. Canada debate all the time? I mean it seems like that's all you want to talk about. So are you a Redskins fan? Are you an NFL fan? Or was your sole purpose of signing up to talk about the CFL?

Sheriff Gonna Getcha 03-08-2006 10:47 PM

Re: CFL Versus NFL Game
and you saw who caused it right?
Yeah ... various people, posts that seemed to deliberately try to stir things up, confusion, and posts that don't convey the proper tone.

In my opinion, it is fairly clear that the NFL is vastly superior to the CFL in terms of talent-levels. I can understand why people didn't think there was much reason to debate the issue, since the disparity in talent between the two leagues is quite substantial.

But, if a debate seems dumb or uninteresting, do one of two things: (1) ignore it and the thread will die on its own accord, or (2) respond in an intelligent manner. Even when someone else says something rude or just plain idiotic, ignore it. I tend to respect others who don't lash out and who debate the merits of a position or ignore it. I assume that some other people feel the same way.

I tend to lose respect for people who are just trying to piss others off, talk trash, and make fools of themselves.

You can put me on ignore but you will miss some good material....

Re: CFL Versus NFL Game
By the way, where the hell do you get off trying to convince anyone that baseball is much easier to win than football. Where did you get that idea from?
Performance in baseball is much more variable because it constitutes many one on one battles. On any given day a great pitcher on a lousy team can dominate and win the game almost single-handedly. It is very rare in a cohesive team sport such as football for one player to single-handedly win a game. In fact I cannot even fathom a football player playing so well in one game as to be the sole reason his team won. I can point to hundreds, if not thousands, of such examples in baseball though. Again, your use of one baseball game as evidence that the CFL could win a game against a NFL team is severely flawed if not down-right ridiculous.

Puerto Rico is a bunch of cry babies. Can't even get along in the world without the greatest nation in the world, the good ol USA, proping them up. If Canada is JV USA then Puerto Rico is like the trailer out back where they send the delinquents to keep 'em away from the rest of us good kids.

Yes. I stopped when it became obvious that the only support for his argument was "Warren Moon said his Eskimos team might be competitive".

When first proposed the thread was somewhat interesting and fun for reasonable debate. Once it became obvious that armchair would refuse to concede points he could not refute or even comment on Canuck's reasonable statements, it slipped into name calling and lost all of its intellectual appeal.

Then TAFKAS joined in and it just went to sh**.

well...I'm only half Puerto Rican so...

Anyhow, the history of Puerto Ricans in the NFL is a long and storied one-perhaps deserving of its own thread-from Ron Rivera all the way to OJ Santiago.

And we're better than Canada in baseball so there!

In Puerto Rico we call him El Taylor Jacobso. He did however average 21 yards per kick retrun...We had to disown 3-time Pro Bowler Marco Rivera after he signed with Dallas.
