Re: ExtremeSkins and Redskins Teamming Up?
I could be wrong but if a player wants to give an interview or answer some questions like Cooley did, I don't think the team would control who the player gives an interview to.
I guess we'll find out soon enough. |
Re: ExtremeSkins and Redskins Teamming Up?
they give interviews to the post and times and espn and comcast all the time, nothing should change in that regard.

Re: ExtremeSkins and Redskins Teamming Up?
I'm still fairly new to the Warpath....and after looking at this site, Extreme, and one other, I forget which, this is hands down truly the site for the fans. I've been a Skins fan since the early 80s and can remember tracking each yard that Riggins would gain during the game and the next morning check his stats for the game in the Wash. Post to see who was more accurate...me or them:) So you can imagine how much I appreciate how you guys really dig in and get the facts and so forth. The commentary here is much more polished and it's down right fun to "hear" you guys crack jokes! Oh, Lenny Pastabelly!! Man, I almost fell out of my chair the other night after reading the thread about how he ripped the skins O-line and how you guys responded. "Sausage fingers!"
Thanks guys for making my Redskins experience complete. This is truly the site for the fans and of the fans!!! Hail to the Redskins! Sorry for the long post!!! Oh by the way, Portis will be a beast this year!!! |
Re: ExtremeSkins and Redskins Teamming Up?
I am trying to understand why the Skins want to do this? Actually the answer to that is obvious...money. Now how are the "chats" goign to go on as normal when the Skins money making machine gets involved? This will devolve into a mess within year I bet. Look out for influxes of disallusioned posters here and other sites.

Makes sense, they wanted to start up their own forums, so why not merge with the largest one out there. They have over 35,000 members, ok so maybe there's only 5000 active members but that's a story for another day. ;) That's just a friendly jab, I don't want to sound like sour grapes or anything. Not even a jab, just a poke. |
Re: ExtremeSkins and Redskins Teamming Up?
And like I said before, a lot of the threads consist of a lot of:
"Yep." and "I agree." Sometimes with about five "Yep"s in a row. |
Re: ExtremeSkins and Redskins Teamming Up?
When ahs The Dan kept his hands off of something? There's no way they are going to let the mods run the show. Picture this: the Redskins get out of the gate slow. Fans are going nuts because we have no capable MLB and our corners get beat like dirty rugs. Fans are calling for heads. They're using nasty and despicable words about The Dan. You think he is just gonna let it roll like that. No chance.

Re: ExtremeSkins and Redskins Teamming Up?
I just don't beleive they'll try to censor extreme--it's just too big. Plus, my guess is this is largely a Larry Michaels/Karl Swanson thing--Danny will stay in the background.
It's a good thing overall--plus, we get to see reports from closed camp stuff. If anyone is going to balk, it will probably be Gibbs with his secrecy. We'll see! |

Ok, i Have a clearer conept now of what occurred, and yes I believe the front office will have full control over content. Notice the sub-headlien fo the press release...

Re: ExtremeSkins and Redskins Teamming Up?
Here's the press release, read it and weep
Team Acquires Extremeskins.com, web's most popular Redskins fan site The Washington Redskins today announced a strategic alliance with Extremeskins.com, the Internet's most popular and populated team-specific Redskins fan site, resulting in the fans' closest possible connection with the team. The addition of message boards and fan chats with team players, coaches and officials adds another powerful element to Redskins.com's ever-expanding slate of video team reports, audio and video press conference coverage, news articles and team features. As a result of the partnership, the Extremeskins.com owners and their corps of moderators will become the exclusive Redskins.com message board and chat site under the banner Extremeskins at Redskins.com. Interactive chats are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 6, with Owner Daniel M. Snyder, followed by a chat with Head Coach Joe Gibbs on Thursday, Sept. 8. Players will be added to the mix the next week, beginning with quarterback Patrick Ramsey on Monday, Sept. 12. The message board is scheduled to launch soon. "As we began our re-design of Redskins.com early this year, we wanted to incorporate the message boards and chats so popular with fans," said Larry Michael, Redskins senior vice president. "As we examined existing sites, we quickly discovered Extremeskins. With its 35,000 members and the years of experience accumulated by the operators, we quickly wondered whether we could incorporate it, rather than build our own." Founded in 2000 by Tony DiMarco and currently owned by DiMarco, Eric Leichter and Mark Steven, Extremeskins.com's popularity with fans is in large part due to the dedication of its moderators, as well as the distinct personality they bring to the site. The alliance with Redskins.com allows the owners, all of whom have other full-time jobs, to concentrate on the dream they had when founding the site: Provide the best fan experience possible, with the most up-to-date information possible about the Washington Redskins. Extremeskins at Redskins.com will live within the team site, and the team will assume all technical responsibilities, with the moderators continuing their existing roles. Representatives of Extremeskins at Redskins.com will join the team at all games, providing an exclusive fan view from the pressbox and sidelines. Extremeskins will also have the ability to attend all practices and team activities. "We have no interest in changing or reining in the moderators," Michael said. "They are what made the site so popular. They are what attracted us to the site in the first place." The team expects to begin integrating the Extremeskins.com content and membership within the next week, with Extremeskins at Redskins.com to begin seamless operation from its new address shortly thereafter. Fans may register to participate in team message boards and chats as soon as the integration is complete. Existing Extremeskins.com members will be automatically registered at the Extremeskins at Redskins.com address. |
Re: ExtremeSkins and Redskins Teamming Up?
I just tried to post over at Extreme to say how displeased I was with the takeover, how they were selling out, and how this was just an attempt by Little Danny Snyder to act as the Redskin's thought police.
I was unable to post the message, an icon of LDS appeared on my computer and spread a virus throughout my company, my personal computer at home spontaneously exploded, all my credit cards were charged to their limit and mysteriously cancelled, my toilet no longer flushes, the mailman avoids my home except to deliver poorly wrapped plain brown packages with no return address, and my dog bit me. I smell a conspiracy. [J/K - I did not post at Extreme] |

Re: ExtremeSkins and Redskins Teamming Up?
was any money paid or are the ES.com modss going to get any salary etc?
from what i've read they get to go to closed practices, but they have to stand way back from the real reporters, and they also get new servers/hosting provided by the redskins. Do they get any ad revenue? is that going to go to the skins now since they're hosting it? I don't really understand the point i guess. If they wanted more interaction, they could host chats and interviews among the various fan sites (or just ES) without needing to "merge" all that ES is going to get out of this is even more haters and trolls like the tampa bay forums (hosted by the team) get... its just flooded with trash talk. |
Re: ExtremeSkins and Redskins Teamming Up?
We'll see how long this lasts...
I feel a disillusionment coming along soon... |
