Re: Drafting a guard in the first round.
Yea, no doubt I couldnt have been this cocky if Moses hadnt been at least somewhere above average.

Re: Drafting a guard in the first round.
Just give Bill Callahan whatever he wants. Money, high draft picks, forty virgins, Chico's first born.

I agree, but am confused that they are protecting Matt Ryan, who seems to be doing an ok job getting his receiver's the ball |

To be fair, the Eagles and Giants pass rush isn't exactly scary |
Re: Drafting a guard in the first round.
Polumbus doesn't start

You are right, he only played on 3 snaps (i had to look) - I must have watched just that part of the game, because the announcer pointed out that Chester and Polumbus both came from Washington. |

lets see after the next 2 weeks. I won't scoff at either till we show we can handle them. |
Re: Drafting a guard in the first round.
I was really hoping Moses was going to make an impact last year. I am so fucking pumped that we have a Oline guru making the most out of our investments in young Olinemen. How many have we seen develop into nothing, granted that will happen when you're only selecting late round players, but I think with this line we may are an early round draft pick starter and a few young depth guys away from being elite. We will win with this.
I really think the Oline is the single most important unit on a football team. QB's, RB's, WR's, and TE's are useless without a good Oline (see most Redskins teams since the early 90's). Yeah Yeah Defense wins championships, but you literally can't win games if you can't score. |
Re: Drafting a guard in the first round.
BTW . . . Just curious for input from longtime fans, (I was too young to really remember anything but the costumes), what would make a Redskins Oline worthy of the "Hogs" moniker (not that they are anywhere close, I just want to know what I'm looking out for)

Re: Drafting a guard in the first round.
These guys have a gotten off to a great start! Really exciting to see true power football in the Burgundy and Gold......
The Redskins' primary weapon in the backfield was running back Earnest Byner, who ranked 5th in the NFL with 1,048 rushing yards, while also catching 34 passes for 308 yards and scoring 5 touchdowns. Rookie running back Ricky Ervins was also a major asset to the running attack, rushing 145 times for 680 yards for an average of 4.7 yards per carry, while also catching 16 passes for 181 yards. And when Washington was near the goal line, they usually relied on fullback Gerald Riggs, who rushed for 248 yards and scored 11 touchdowns. The Redskins' offensive line, known as "The Hogs", was led by Pro Bowl tackle Jim Lachey and guard Mark Schlereth, along with four-time Pro Bowl veteran Russ Grimm. The Hogs allowed the fewest sacks in the league with just 9, 10 sacks less than the team that allowed the second-fewest. |

giving up ~0.5 sacks a game is just ridiculous. |
