I've always been rather hopeful with Beck, so I'm more "positive" than some other fellas here. ;) |

Yeah what was up with Hightower being active and not playing whatsoever? |

I wanna not believe in him and say oh Rex this and Rex that but I saw preseason and I saw today......he looks better back there than Rex..Rex reminds me of Drew Bledsoe on his way out the league. Im not calling Beck a Tom Brady or anything but the way he was standing tall in the pocket and being mobile I almost forgot this man is 30 years old and when he ran that TD I found myself saying shanahan cloned Elway didnt he? (I had to add some humor :P) |
Re: Predict the Redskins record for the rest of the season
Beck has the mobility for us to call some new plays. But seriously, Kyle Shanahan is just proving to be an average to poor play caller. He has his moments, but overall pretty unimpressive.
This is the time when the Kyle Shanahan hire really starts to hurt us. We can't just get rid of him, because he's the coaches kid. But we also cannot sustain a drive if we're never going to run in third and 2, 3, or 4. And while the injuries limited our playcalling ability, someone has to take the fall for giving so many opportunities to guys like Torain, Stallworth, and even Cooley nowadays. I'm glad the Mike Sellers fetish is a thing of the past, but it's just manifested itself in about 100 other ways.
Kyle isn't to blame for the lack of effort on the outsides and he's not to blame for Fred Davis having a poor day. He kept giving the passing game chances and the passing game beat itself. But if you're wondering why every single Eagles opponent to date ran all over them and we couldn't, it's because we decided to play our third best tailback, then decided not to give him the ball in any situation where we needed critical yards. Hard to do it much worse than Kyle has done it this year. Although if he did it worse, it would look something like last year. |

Re: Predict the Redskins record for the rest of the season
I've got the Skins going 7-5 to go the rest of the season, having them finish with a 10-6 record.
Let's see if I can get it right three years in a row. I might edit this post and add in specific game predictions. :D We lose against the Eagles this week.
Of course this was posted before the game lol. Honestly, the way my logic is going right now, it looks like this. In order to win games we need to run the ball, take leads, and play good defense, all the while asking whomever our starting qb is to play okay game manager football. As of now it's completely obvious how much our run game depended on Trent Williams and Kory Lichtensteiger. Steig is out for the year from the reports, and Trent might miss a couple weeks. And with both of them out our run game looked like a pile of dog excrement. Sorry Sean Locklear and Erik Cook, but the less I see of you the better. So now lets say we can't run the ball. That means we have to put it in John Beck's hands, and while most of what we saw today was the result of his lack of work with the first team, I don't think Beck is the kind of qb who you can put the game on his back. And the way Kyle S. calls plays its clear running the ball isn't his priority either, and that hurts. Lets just say I don't like our chances if T.Will misses a lot of time and Lichensteiger is out for the year. Our lack of o-line depth is really going to show up here. Before the season started I felt content getting through the season with Grossman and/or Beck at quarterback. Now that Grossman has looked simply gross, man, (lame pun intended), if we can play average ball with Beck at qb I'll be content. I thought Grossman would play 50/50 ball at least, and he's playing more 10/90 (90 being bad) ball as of this game. I said before the season I'd be content using the pair of qb's this season if it meant we got our franchise qb next offseason, and right about now I hope the Shannies/B.A. are thinking along the same lines. As for the rest of the season, well I hope Beck can play ok, because I don't want to see Grossman back on the field. |
Re: Predict the Redskins record for the rest of the season
It could be awhile before the Redskins win again. I like our chances to be back around full strength by the time Dallas rolls in for Week 11, but if we go 1-3 or 0-4 between now and then, we won't be talking about Dallas week, we'll be talking about who the coach will be next year.
If we can save 2-2 over the next four weeks, we can stay in it. |

I think Shanny said something like blah, blah, blah, excuse, excuse, Hightower has a sore shoulder, blah blah. |

In a way that didn't matter since we made almost no effort to run the ball. |

Right with you Sir. |

Ditto.. I think Beck "wants" it more then Grossman does. It seems to me that Grossmans has his first read, and then breaks down after that. He doesn't have the ZIP on the ball to recover missing the play late where Beck can wing it, and always break out the pocket to extend the play |

Re: Predict the Redskins record for the rest of the season
I'm sticking to 10-6.
9-7 at worst...as long as Rex stays on the bench. |
