Fixed. |

Harmless trade, unless you think Dutch is an NFL DB. |

Yeah, it seems like the bad version of Taylor Jacobs for Mike Rumph |
Really a who cares move, unless you're a QB not named McNabb

One no-name for another. Not really, but still.
Who the hell is DD....lol? Is he a REDSKIN? Ole yea he's a scrub that had no chance to begin with.
I consider myself a fanatic when it comes to the Redskins. To the point where I know a lot of the practice squad players. Even I have never heard of Doug Dutch before now.
That legit made me laugh out loud at work. And this might not be the best time to ask...but who the hell is Doug Dutch?
Ha ha, thanks man |

What a flashy trade!
NFL Live will probably devote tonight's whole show to covering this blockbuster. |

Re: Redskins Acquire QB John Beck (for CB Doug Dutch)
I dont think this trade indicates an even remote interest in beck himself. I think what it means is that the Shanahan's have determined that Colt is garbage and they needed to find a QB who could atleast provide some competition for Bartel.
I know there's been talk of the Skins only carrying two QBs on the active roster, but thats foolish speculation in my opinion. Yeah, Shanahan's done it before, but never with a QB as brittle as McNabb. At some point, McNabb is going to miss atleast one game. We simply can't go into a game with Grossman as the the only active QB. We don't even have ARE any more to serve as an emergency guy. In the end, Bartel's our third QB and we're just bringing in Beck to push him to improve. |
Re: Redskins Acquire QB John Beck (for CB Doug Dutch)
The Cut of Colt re-emerges.. He was saved by a hip injury last summer, now he may not get another pre-season game snap with the Skins..
It doesn't say too much that Beck was traded by the team that employs the coach who originally drafted him. Oh well. ** EDIT ** As I was saying... ESPN 980 has learned that QB Colt Brennan has been released. |
Re: Redskins Acquire QB John Beck (for CB Doug Dutch)
Doug Dutch is a badass name...

Re: Redskins Acquire QB John Beck (for CB Doug Dutch)
So, John Beck is 29 years old. Just one year younger than Grossman and a year (well, more like four months) older than Campbell.
Would have liked this trade a lot more if he was 26 or something, but those mormon missions will really kill your pro career. |
John Beck's 2007 numbers were really, really terrible in any number of ways, but at least his interception rate was respectable.
I'm trying to understand the rationale behind the trade. We trade a player that probably wasn't going to make the team for another whose situation would appear to be simular at best. Is the plan for him the PS? |

I'm thinking, if a guy isn't worthy of a roster spot they wanted to get him out and get another guy in, because why waste time? They don't want Colt -- probably don't want Beck either -- but they've gotta find out. |

Beck has a greater than zero chance of being the no. 2 QB this year, which I believe is the rational behind the trade. I'll bet trade talks started between the Ravens and the Redskins on the topic of their CB depth, and that we tried to get a draft pick out of them, but couldn't. Doug Dutch wasn't going to make our team, and Beck wasn't going to make theirs (unless Troy Smith was traded), so the ability to look at John Beck in the preseason seems like a no-brainer. In all likelyhood, he's going to get released before the season. He'd have to beat out Grossman for a roster spot, and there's enough evidence out there to think that Rex is just better. But with this trade, Shanahan can make the decision for himself. |
