Re: Sam Bradford remains projected pick to Redskins

I've seen Bradford play 2 or 3 games so I really don't know if he's any good or not. But the games I saw he looked legit. Very accurate, got rid of the ball quickly, nice release.... but I think he was in shotgun just about every play. If we end up drafting this guy then Shanahan should just start the guy right away. No clipboard holding.
You know, f' it. Let's go ahead and draft a QB stick him behind this line and watch 30+ million in guaranteed money go down the tube in a hand basket because we get him killed before he even learns how to play in the NFL. I'm all for it and hey at that rate we will get to see JC behind the same line and taking the same punishment all over again!

If you cannot sense the sarcasm I do not know how much more blatant I can put it.

Placing a high profile QB behind this line is like parking a Ferrari in the middle of a highway. It is a stupid decision. Buy your Ferrari a garage first! Don’t worry, Ferrari will make a newer model next year you do not have to buy one right now.
Well said, I like the Farrari analogy. Imagine being a rookie QB for Washington and reviewing the 2009 game tapes... suddenly taking 3 step drops and dinking to the check down TE or RB makes a lot more sense...

I think it's safe to say no matter who is under center next year, there are going to be some significant changes to the OL.

I think Bradford is a decent QB; however, could you really imagine him taking shots from Demarcus Ware, Umenyiora, Tuck, etc...? He would really need to watch them play for at least a year before he is thrown into the fire.

I think so to, but the quality is going to come from the draft. There are not many good Olineman that are going to be available through FA. Chances are if they are a FA it is because someone else let them go. No matter how many changes there are to the OL in the offseason, they are still going to suck. I'd rather get JC or a journeyman killed rather than a high profile pick.

He's in the shotgun about 45% of the time if I recall correctly (not unlike Tom Brady). The first option should be Okung if he's there. But if he's not. I wouldn't have a problem with drafting Bradford at all. Bradford is getting scrutinized mainly because it's the popular thing to do with the top QBs coming out for the draft each year. But he's very talented.

Take Bradford in the 1st, draft Charles Brown at the top of the 2nd to be our LT, trade into the 3rd and take Calloway to be our RT. I'd be fine with that. (and ideally we trade into the 2nd and get someone like Dwyer as well) I'd rather do that than reach for an OT in the first round, just to say we got an offensive lineman.
Agreed. I want ZERO part of Sam Bradford or Colt McCoy. Guys like Pike, Lefevour, Zac Robinson, Max Hall, and others will all be available later. Plus don't forget about the beloved Colt Brennan coming back. If we have a pick inside the top 10 and we can't move down or get Okung, just draft CJ Spiller. It's a need and he's a total beast. In which case just address O-line later on in the draft and in FA.
To an extent I agree; but if those guys are available later, then why? Because a team doesn't need a QB or because they're more of a project QB? I don't see the need in drafting a QB in the early 2nd or so unless you're somewhat sure that he'll soon be ready to lead your offense. I'd rather hold out completely another year if that's what it takes. But we all know that good QBs have come later in the draft too, so I guess that we'll see.

I sure hope that Bruce does what he wants to do instead of Danny. This has Danny all over it. He has been trying to get Campbell out of here for the last two years. A smart GM builds the lines first. You can't have a competative team with swinging gates infront of the QB. Look what parcells did in Miami. Built solid lines, won with Pennington, won with who ever the guy is now, running the ball with Ricky POT HEAD Williams and is fighing for playoffs this year after winning 10 games last year.

If we take a QB in the first couple of rounds it will be a disaster. Its horrible to think the people on this website know more about how to successfully build a team than the guys that actually get paid to do it.

Totally agree, we can not take a OT with our pick if Okung( and he will be)is off the board. OT is perhaps our biggest need, but why reach when you could get a quality starter in the second round. People act like if we dont go OL in the first round that our draft will be a bust.

I beleive he is speaking the truth also. The guy has kept his mouth shut all season. I'm glad he finally spoke up and quit trying to be a poster boy for a team that tried to screw him over so many times.
Yeah lets keep Campbell, I love watching skins games where he doesnt even attempt to throw the ball over ten yards.
wHEN YOU HAVE MAYBE THE WORST O-LINE IN THE NFL YOU CAN NOT THROW THE BALL MORE THAN 10 YARDS BECAUSE ITS A JAIL BREAK. TEAMS ARE ONLY RUSHING 4 PLAYERS AND THEY STILL CANNOT PROTECT JC. DOES THIS CLEAR THINGS UP ABOUT PASSING MORE THAN 10 YARDS DOWN THE FIELD. WHEN YOU DONT GET TIME ON A 3 STEP DROP FORGET ABOUT GOING DEEP.
shanahan wants bradford.
why do we want bradford who was injuried and missed the entire 2009 season. He is coming off a injury and has missed his entire senior season. Had 2 good years in college and we want to gamble our top 5 pick on a qb, what a mistake.
I will be completely pissed if we draft Bradford!! The guy can't stay healthy and there is no comparison to him and Brees. Brees had a torn Labrum, which is an easy repair with surgery, Bradford's injury is just one hard hit away from putting him on the IR. Claussen looks like the most NFL ready QB that I've seen this year, especially if you want to take one with the first pick. I say if he isn't there when we pick, we trade our #1 for more picks and take a QB in the 2nd or 3rd.
I rather take any other position besides QB with our 1st pick. 2nd round if we have to take a QB pick Tony Pike. Jimmy Clausen is better than Bradford.

If the best LT is not available when we draft then I be okay with drafting CJ Spiller, Eric Berry, Brandon Spikes, or Taylor Mays. I want a impact player at the 5th pick than will be a all-pro and a game changer. QB is such a hard position to project and they normally sit for a few years.
