you guys want the same guy that looked absolutely clueless in the MNF game against Dallas? He just turns the ball over and forces things

Are you talking about Ramsey?? Because if you are, just a heads up, but he didnt play on Monday Night against Dallas. In addition, correct me if I'm wrong, but I dont think we even turned the ball over against Dallas?

I don't even remember Ramsey playing against Dallas. I know Hasselbeck did. I'm sure he was sacked enough times if he did play.
Where did this come from? I thought Brunell was the best quarterback to ever put on a Redskins uniform! Whatever happened to that sentiment?!
I don't think anybody said he was the best QB to put on a Skins uniform.

I'll still take him over Ramsey at this point though.

MTK 10-03-2004 08:21 PM
Mark Brunell is going to be the QB for this season, so stop your whining and pouting. If Ramsey were ready, he would have shown it in the Giants game and during practice before the Dallas game. Turns out, Gibbs wasn't feeling "Patty Cake Ramsey." He would have gotten his ass handed to him against Dallas and you would have still used the excuse he's still learning the offense. This shit is getting real dull on this website. Sounds like you all want to be cheerleaders for your QB rather than understand a veteran is what Gibbs works more effectively with and that's not going to change.
Well said.

Last week most of us had Brunell's back, a week later everyone is throwing him under the bus. I don't get it.

I assume if he were to rip it up against the Ravens next week he'd be the hero again. Hilarious!

Ramsey is not the answer and flip flopping QB's is definitely not the answer. As long as Brunell is healthy enough to play, Gibbs is going to stick it out with him, so let's get off his back and stop crying for a QB change anytime something goes wrong.

DirtBagZ 10-03-2004 08:35 PM

As someone who is a Ramsey supporter, what has me upset about this whole situation is that it was obvious that Brunell was brought here for a win now approach. At 1-3 how realistic is the expectation of win now, i.e. making the playoffs?

For those of us who support Ramsey, it is added insult to injury that the team is not winning now we could just as easily be 1-3 with Ramsey, but at least he would be learning his craft as a QB. The Redskins overpaid for Brunell, and to make matters even worse they gave up a draft pick for him. If Brunell ends up being a bust, the team has given up a draft pick, and will have added dead cap money.

As others have pointed out, and I have said this Gibbs will not take Brunell out. Ramsey, will have his growth and maturity as a QB stunted. So, what is next, do we trade Ramsey next year? Is Ramsey yet another wasted first round pick? From my point of view this is why the Brunell business ticks me off.
i'll put it in english okay.what has brunell done to lose the games so far?has has not thrown any pics yet has he?he is doing what is asked of him by his coaches.did'nt you listen to the game?if he was not moving the team today who was? with respect to ramsey,i'm talking about his"great"relief performance against the giantsall he had to do was throw 1 touchdown pass and he could not do it.i am not holding the last two years against ramsey or anybody that played for spurrier.since the first preseason game this year under gibbs, ramsey has pretty much stunk up the place and that is bad.
Time for a language lesson! I have to ask this question first, did you, or did you not watch the Giant game a couple of week's ago? Because if you did, you would have seen Brunnell give up 7 point's for the second week in a row, and yes we lost by 6 point's, the problem is, Brunell supporter's refuse to hold him to the same accountability as Ramsey, Ramsey hasen't surrendered point's to the defense this year, Brunell has surrendered 14, Brunell also has the luxury of practicing with the first team all week, Ramsey does not, Ramsey threw 3 pick's, 1 was cole's fault, the second came after he drove the ball down the Giant's throat, and after gardner dropped as easy, and as perfect of a TD pass you will see, he was picked in the end zone on a corner route, his last INT you could see came off his hand funny while he was on the run, and Ramsey was put into a position by Brunell to have to play come back, which is alway's more difficult for the QB, do I think Brunell will get better as he get's used to the sysytem? Yes. Do I think if Ramsey givin the same opportunity, will run circles around Brunell as far as moving this offense? Absolutly!
with respect to ramsey,i'm talking about his"great"relief performance against the giantsall he had to do was throw 1 touchdown pass and he could not do it.
And this is what a lot of us are talking about, accountability for Brunnell, all he had to do is throw 1 TD pass and we would have won, in fact all he had to do is move us into field goal range, and he couldn't even do that, and he had the whole game to accomplish this feet, not 1 half, and not when your trailing, bottom line you can say he doesn't make any mistakes with INT's, But he doesn't move the ball either, the name of the game is to win, not play INT free, and lose, Brunnell remind's me of another QB on our team, Tim Hasselbach, he doesn't throw INT's, and he doesn't move the ball either, no why? He never get's on the field, I want a QB, to play QB, I want him to go out and win the game, not a QB who's trying not to lose it, Ramsey play's to win, he will take chances which will hurt you on occasion, he's still young and inexpierenced, those mistakes will become few and far between with expierence, but that kind of competivness is what will make him a tremendous starter, and leader on our team.

MY VOTE GOES TO RAMSEY!

Gmanc711 10-03-2004 08:48 PM

If it gets to the point where we arent going to make the playoffs, like a 1-6 , 2-7 or somthing really bad, we gotta put Ramsey in. For now, as much as I though he played like crap, I guess we got to stick with Brunell, basically I'm not gonna waste my time lobbying for Ramsey, I know Brunell is gonna stay in.

For everyone who is saying Brunell is doing everything asked of him, I ask him to lead us to a win next week. If he does that, I will be happy.

SmootSmack 10-03-2004 08:54 PM

I think we should probably consider that Gibbs anticipated a possible slow start and saw that it would take time to get the players to understand and succesfully execute the plays on a consistent basis. As a veteran QB, I think Brunell is better suited to lead the team right now. While this team is struggling I don't see the benefit of putting Ramsey in there to take more beatings.

I see it as Brunell laying the foundation for Ramsey. In a year or so Ramsey will step into a polished offense.

I think Ramsey has a very bright future, but I don't think he would be a better choice than Brunell right now. I don't think Brunell is the one costing us the games

SmootSmack 10-03-2004 08:58 PM

Offiss, you bring up a really interesting point in your post. I think as a whole the team is playing not to lose. I think that's a big reason for a lot of the mistakes, they're tentative. They think too much perhaps.

I absolutely agree that it'd be nice if they played to win. But I think that mentality comes from the coaching staff.

I think that is coming from Gibb's right now, he's still a little tenative, this team will go when the coaching staff catches up with the rest of the NFL, Gibb's layoff has defiently hindered him, it is going to take a while to re-remember what he used to know, once that happen's he will become aggressive, but right now he's still feeling his way through.

wolfeskins 10-04-2004 01:01 AM

if the skins are gonna keep pissing all the games away this year,i'd rather they do it with ramsey at qb than brunell.ramsey is the future of this team not the old man that got beat out by a rookie, then was way over paid to come to washington.redskinfan63 may think we who want ramsey to start are blind but if he cant see that brunell just aint got it no more than thats between him and his eye dr. if portis fumbles the ball one more time then the skins should bench his ass too,he wanted to be the highest paid player in the game, well he needs to effin earn his $ or take a seat.

wolfeskins 10-04-2004 01:05 AM

correction,i left out big,it's bigredskinsfan63
