This is nuts. From my point of viiew AH did every thing right. He never came in contact with the other car, stayed at the scene and was NOT cited by the officers at the time of the accident. Now here it is almost 4 months later and he is being charged with 2 misdemeanor driving offenses. I wasn't there but this whole situation seems fishy to me.

I'll bet the charges get dropped. In fact, i'm so sure i'll bet a sig on it.....any takers?
i agree, and good morning :)

Except for the speeding part ... for which we apparently only have the other driver's testimony ... hmmmmm ... Cha Ching $$$$$$

So AH might be guilty of being a bad driver (which I can't condone, but I encounter innumerable bad drivers each and every day, especially living in the city with the worst drivers in America - and that is not hype, they really suck - habitually drive 10 under, can't merge, chronically make bad decisions, hard to even explain - Men's Health - edit: ok, this link doesn't work, but if you are interested seach: "worst drivers" when you get to Men's Health and it will take you to the page.

But as at least one other person said, if you see a speeding car approaching and your first instinct is to park your vehicle into the jersey wall then you probably aren't the next coming of Kyle Busch (had to go JGR) or anything. Bad driver looking for a pay day. Unless you read the Redskins Insider blog, in which case AH ranks right up there with child molesters and murderers in the character department.

I've caused a few accidents in my lifetime, one with an expired license. Yet i never had to turn myself in. Did i miss something, if he wasnt cited at the scene why is this all coming out now??

Different states have different laws. There is a good chance that because someone was injured that the state requires that the police investigate the accident and right up a report. There is also a good chance that the state requires that the police ticket the person that they find at fault in the accident. If he was found to have run the person off the road (even by accident) that could be considered reckless driving in that state. That's a major violation so he would have to come to the station and receive the ticket because the violation could result in jail time. Most of the time the ticket is giving on the scene and its very very rare that anyone does time for reckless driving ticket. I'd bet that its reduce to something like carless driving. The only reason this is news is because we have thousands of people reporting on anything so they have a job.

I think this is the link you were looking for. No surprise to me that 4 cities in Florida are in the top 25 worst. Drivers in that state are an out and out joke.

You made an excellent point. Not to justify his "reckless driving," but i agree with you there. He could very well have sped away from the scene and lied about it if confronted with it by police. Instead, he stayed (knowing full well the injured motorist, realizing who he was, would one day sue the crap out of him for millions of dollars). He made a mistake, but he "manned up" and did the right thing by staying and talking to the police.

If anything, this incident shows Haynesworth is someone who wants to do the right thing.

I agree with you but damn.... at some point AH needs to grow up and be a man. But once he he pile drives Romo into the ground I really don't give a rat's ass about this.

‘SKINS SHIELDING HAYNESWORTH FROM THE MEDIA
Posted by Mike Florio on March 15, 2009, 3:22 p.m.

Last week, Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was indicted in connection with a December 2008 auto accident that he allegedly caused by driving his Ferrari too fast.

This week, the Redskins are launching offseason workouts.

And, in an e-mail regarding said workouts, the Redskins have made it known that Haynesworth will not be made available to the media.

The guy gets a $41 million contract, and the team already is hiding him from the press.

Yeah, this is gonna work out just great.

AH Update.

Now he's continued until mid-July.

What usually happens in these cases? Legal experts feel free to elaborate and debate! Will AH be with the B&G in TC? Will the Riddler finally beat the Dynamic duo? Stay tuned this time next week, same Bat-time, same Bat-channel!
