People continue to forget that this is not 2000 all over again. Take a look at the Redskins roster, there are only 6-7 players over the age of 30 as of opening day, some like Mitchell and Noble and Tupa aren't key players.. Let's allow this to play out before we start jumping to conclusions about 'here we go again'.. With the exception of CB, I think each move has represented an upgrade from the player that finished the season at that position..

Brunell is better right now than Ramsey simply based on experience
Portis is a no brainer over Candidate/Betts/Rock
Rasby is a much better blocker than Chamberlain
Dainels is an upgrade over Bruce Smith
Griffin is an upgrade over anyone who played DT last year
Washington is faster, more athletic and younger than Armstead
Springs from Bailey is a downgrade, but better safety play can offset that
Tupa is an upgrade from Barker
oh yeah, that Gibbs guy is a little better than the Ole Ball-less Coach

I definately do not think that the 'Skins got shafted in the trade. I think Portis put it best when he said that Bailey could only control one player, while he controls where the ball is going.
Brunell is probably going to retire before the entire contract has been finished so he won't be seeing all of that money.

I think Brunnel will start for maybe two seasons and then Ramsey will take over. By then, Ramsey should be at the fullest of his potential. As paintrain stated, this isn't 2000 over again. The choices were are making in the free agent market are good choices based on the players' ability, strengths, and age as well. Most of the ones we've gotten so far are fairly young players, except for Brunnell, but he is still considered in his prime at the age of 33?

I don't have to go over to cowboysguide.com any more! I know that they average an IQ of 70, and believe they will somehow inherit every great FA during FA season, and pick up at least 5 terrific #1 draft choices every year! They are not moronic, just full of pookie!

We know that the FAs don't all migrate to Valley Ranch! So that shoots down that vein of thought.

We also know they will not have five #1s.

Over here, we know we will, at this juncture, have only one pick at #5. We can all agree we will pick a great player or trade down. Some are pulling for Udeze, some Taylor, some Winslow, some a WR, others want still a different DE! It's OK! The FO knows what they want! The first four picks will dictate which direction we go. We may not all be happy. Me, I would have chosen a DE in each of the last eight years, but was happy each year just to watch the Draft outcome.

The happiest moments were when we traded the spot for R. Williams for the Saints entire draft. Disapointed a few short minutes later when we traded nearly all of it back to move back up to get C. Bailey.
Happy when we traded back to get P. Ramsey.
Unhappy when we lost the #1st rounder last year for L. Coles, but I got over it when I saw what he could do.
Disapointed, albiet slightly when we got T. Jacobs, but, that was an OBC decision. After all, Jacobs was listed in the #1st round of most Mocks. Glad we got Dockery, because I had seen his name in the 1st round of several Mocks as well.

This year, with only one pick, my trust is in HOF Coach Gibbs! That one pick will either be terrific, or will be several other picks later that we can discuss after the Draft!
