Re: Vanderjagt, a Redskins?

If Hall is injured, then I apologise for the comments I'm about to make. Hall's kickoffs are too shallow. I don't know how many times the other team ended up with great field position after a kick return of a shallow kickoff. Hall has limited range. Gibbs wouldn't even attempt a kick past 50 yards. Lets get a young strong-legged guy out of college. At least he will be able to boom them into the endzone.
Ernest Byner anyone? Remember his fumble. He redeemed himself in a big way wearing burgandy and gold ....
Earnest Byner played for the Browns and fumbled after he played with the Redskins.

Nick the Kick is a pussy and kicks it shorter than John Hall. We need to get Nedney from San Fran, who is a free agent this year, or draft Connor Hughes from Virginia.

You must've caught the tail end of his career. Byner was the protocol back for a Joe Gibbs' system.

Byner played for the Browns first (84-88), then came to the Skins (89-93), then went back to the Browns (94-95) and finished out with Baltimore (96-97).

His fumble was during his first stint with the brown (either 86 or 87, not sure which).

VDJ is a free agent. he may be tarnished but he is still one accurate kicker. someone will pick him up
Bring Chip Lohmiller out of retirement... I still think ole Chip could kick it into the endzone on a kickoff!
Chip was the man. Mosley a close second. It hasn't been the same since they left.

As much as I'd like to see the kid back in Burgundy and Gold, Novak isn't the answer...he's an Eddie Murray prototype...inside 40 he's clutch, but those beyond 40 are beyond his range.

Tupa will be the punter next season. Frost will definitely get work in the NFL, but it most likely won't be with the Skins.

After looking at the FA Kickers, guys like Vinatieri, Nedney, Josh Brown, Vanderjagt, Edinger, Longwell and Peterson will most likely be resigned with their current teams. Matt Bryant from the Bucs is the only guy in that group I can see being let go, and Hall is better than he is.

I say stick with Hall and Tupa, and move on.

here's something we can ponder. to keep hall healthy how bout on kickoffs are specail teamers actually tackle instead of hall. its rediculous how many tackles he is in on and is forced to take an uneccessary beating.

Re: Vanderjagt, a Redskin?

How about Hall kicking the ball in the end-zone therefor giving him more time to throw the tee to the side-lines and let his special teams beast (Mike Sellers) to deliver bone crushing hits at or around the 20 yard line. Note to John Hall: This offseason strengthen your leg!!!!!!!! Sqwats, leg curls, leg extentions, someething!!!!!!!

VDJ is a free agent. he has kicked indoors. not sure what you would get with him. he has missed a couple of big kicks as well. still, he is very accurate.
certainly would not be worth huge bucks. but we need to get the kicking situation settled (once again)

i kind of like longwell.
