Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
I keep hearing about his Stanford education. Stanford's star LB was arrested for DUI last year.
Sherman also failed a PED test but had it overturned on a technicality about how his urine sample was handled, not because he was proven innocent. The cup leaked and the tech transferred it to another cup...that was enough to get out of it for Sherman. The name on your degree does not make you smart or even a good person. Case in point, the President went to Harvard.
You do not understand the definition and origin of the word of thug. Before you label someone in a public way at least understand the definition of that word you are calling them. Getting a DWI, failing a drug test, or running your mouth in an ill-advised way on National TV does not make you a thug. |
Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
It's just another way to say the N word. Let's be honest.

Lmao sorry but a real "thug" isn't a graduate of Stanford...

Pretty much. |
Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
Actually Sherman used the n word while Andrews was interviewing him. Fox got it on the dump button. Look at it on YouTube. However using it with an a at the end is obviously not the same as the other way. It's been used with an a in my family for years lol and is common among black folks.
RS "don't you ever talk about me!" Andrews " who was talking about you?" RS " that n@$?a Crabtree!" |

Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
It is a big deal because it is still used as a means of subjugating black people by some bitter racist people. The black community began using the word between one another as a way to take the power away from the word (or so I'm told), but unfortunately it just made stupid white people think it was ok to use themselves as long as there's an 'a' at the end. IMHO, I think it should not be used by anyone. Words have an immense amount of social power.
I agree with Matty about "Thug" it has become a substitute so people can continue to use prejudice to label people without feeling racist. Why call him anything? Why not just take exception to his actions? Oh well, such is our nature. |

Honestly I like what Vick and co said when cooper used the word and he didn't use it with an A , they basically said if they dont like him saying it they shouldn't |

I was saying that no one should say it, black or white, but not because it is unfair for white men, but because it is bad for society. But i don't mean to get any deeper into the issue. |

The funny thing about that is the hockey game that he references got a lot of thug comments. Hockey players are called thugs all the time. Its much more common than anyone wants to admit to. |

A thug is a person who commits a violent crime. Sherman acted like an asshole, not a thug. |
Re: Around the NFL Championship Weekend
I don't get all this Sherman reaction like he did something soooo bad. You put a microphone in the face of a man who just made the play of his life to put his team in the Super Bowl. He overcame a nemesis in the process. On top of that they challenged him personally for the win. What do you expect to get? A. A real reaction. B. A Political reaction based on marketing?
