Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
What does this mean? Have we reached a New Age of Reason? Nice to see that the thread's focus was about promoting humor rather than bitterly complaining about something.
|
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
we really needed humor when this thread was created. the skins were in a serious funk and this thread turned things around for them.
|
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
Dude I swear if you do not start with this thread everyday at 8am, you end up getting so lost trying to jump into it about an hour later.
|
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
that has been my problem this summer. I am up all night and no one is online posting anything so when i wake up threads have progressed so far it is impossible to jump back in. I don't know where the gtripp thread went to.

Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
I saw them last summer at Merriweather, and they did play a lot of their newer stuff, so me and my friends were pretty bored. but if the BSB is right, that they're playing more of a mix, leaning towards older stuff, then no way should they break up.
first time i saw them was at my wife's college, sitting in a lawn chair, putting away 2/3rds of a 30 pack. saw Carbon Leaf, Virginia Coalition and Jah Works that weekend as well. wow...and i got SHFT's 1000 post. What an honor!
They should definately play a mix. Everyone there went crazy when they played poker. I hate a lot of the new stuff. I guess they understand that the people that actually come out to see them like the older stuff. They have decided to be a top 50 band forever with this new stuff though. Atleast they are making more money this way. |
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
Yeah I feel your pain BSB. Same deal here, it seems that whenever I am away people post like crazy.

Great thread. But I think I speak for everyone when I say I sure hope there's no need for a Super Happy Fun Thread Part II this season |
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
I saw OAR last summer for the first time (which is odd because I've liked them since I was freshman in college back in 2000) and I really thought they were bad. Their set list was not put together well, they played some of their most popular songs right in the middle of the set and ended with newer/slower songs. And I feel like they played a few songs then left the stage for about 10 minutes then came back and played some more, then left, then came back, so that was weird.
I had fun because I was with a ton of friends, but it was pretty disappointing overall. Oh yeah, and the sound quality at Merriweather sucked balls from the lawn seats. |

OAR and DMB both made me sad in college. |

Really? ive seen Tom petty, 311 and the counting crows from the lawn at merriweather and its always been good |
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
I went with a friend from here and a friend i haven't seen in 5 years because he was in DC. Back on the lawn too. They left the stage saturday too and then came back and i think they said this is our last song and then were like, its maryland we will stay. I think everyone agrees that their new songs suck. SOon they will suck. AGain, they are making more money this way so its not like they will stop.
Taf i don't think we will need a shft next year. Maybe we'll need a Super unhappy unfun thread due to all the wins we have. |
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
I like both bands, but the only time I have ever popped my collar was when I did it as a joke. I did work at American Eagle for two years back in college, but that was only to get discounts on jeans and the most basic of shirts. Plus, the assistant manager had a HUGE rack, so there was that.
Wait, I just remembered, I may have popped the collar back in '87. |

I second that. I was just reading why I created it in the first place and damn, those were some bad moments. Re-reading it has been quite hilarious though. I plan on putting up lots of stories and pics of TO bitching this year. Something tells me the Cowboys are going to tank this year. I'm talking like 6-10. |

how glorious that would be... along with another sweep |
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
I like DMB too and have yet to pop my collar or like anyone that does. I too only have done it as a joke. Besides, no collars on redskin jerseys. :D

I also have to remember that everytime I see someone with their collar popped. Instantly I label them as douchebags, but then again, you can TELL who is doing it for fun and who isn't. The thing that pisses me off the most is when I see parents doing it. I want to stab them with a broadsword or shoot them with a crossbow. |
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
i think pwned is a big collar popper. I don't think i have seen a parent doing it.

your average DMB or new OAR fan... |
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
I feel that PWNED is indeed a big collar popper if my guesses are correct. When I get confirmation, I'll post up a video of me egging the shit out of his car.

How ironic is it that this apparently came from Duke's website (gotta love Google images) |

that guy's shorts are almost as short as cooley's were yesterday.

Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
double post.

Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
HAHAHAHAHA Grillz! That's exactly what I did to one of my friends who came down to visit. He had his collar popped and a cowboy hat on (he's about as northern as they come) and I was like, "You're not allowed in my house until the hat is off and the collar is fixed." He laughed.
I was serious. |
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
personally, I don't care how my friends dress, but I think they know that they will be mocked profusely (there is a 3% chance I spelled that correctly, but I don't care) when they are around me.
I had a party a couple of years ago and we were all hanging out in the basement. One of my friends comes down the stairs, all fashionably late adn whatnot, in a REALLY tight red sleeve-less t-shirt. The kid was a baseball player too, so he was rockin' the farmer's tan like you wouldn't believe. As soon as he came into view I lost it. There was pointing, laughing, hitting other people so that they would look faster/laugh too, I believe I threw a beer can. The kid goes, "alright," turned around and left. About 15 minutes later he came back wearing a normal shirt and no one said a word to him about the earlier incident. I feel like you have to know that you look like a douchebag when you leave the house. |
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
HAHAHAHAHAHA. If you have to THINK about it when you're getting dressed, you can probably rest assured that you're going to get made fun of.
|
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
I think my sister's new boyfriend could be a collar popper. This could be a problem.

How ironic is it that this apparently came from Duke's website (gotta love Google images)
It is because all those schools have a good amount of people that are not for popped collars. I go to UVa and I am not big with the collar popping. I mean there are def people that do there, but for all those people that do, there are alot that don't. |
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
Maybe it's my huge bias against duke, but I imagine that place to be the most collar-popped of all the schools on the east coast.
|

I think Duke may have people that pop collars, but I just think the stereotype is overdone. |
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
Well DUke is also a southern private college=majority white, and quite a few rich.
|
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
No i think UVA would compete with Duke for the collar popping... UVA outdoes duke though with the dressing up for football games
|
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
I'll agree with Hail2theskins. Last time I went up to UVa for a football game, it was collar-popping central.
|
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
Next UMD game I go to, aside from getting so hammered that I can't tell how bad the team will be without VD (hehehe), I think I'm gonna pop my collar just to see how long it takes my dad to slap me on the back of the head and demand that I fix it.
|
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
maybe the BSB will be able to beat my dad to the punch
|
Re: Super Happy Fun Thread!
haha, i'll be there and i'll be able to spot you out because we aren't gay like UVA. Isn't that right hoo?
I kid, hooskins is cool. UVA is gay. |
