It is tough to compete against a QB that completes nearly ever single pass he throws (Hasslebeck!)
yeah thats when pass rush is so important, considering that's not our forte our secondry did real well. we matched up great against this team because run defense IS our forte.

Good work Skins!! you folks battled and won. I believe it was me who said Alexander would be very difficult to stop, but you guys should still win. Congrats.

yeah but he had what 98? On 20 carries? And 1 TD? That's pretty good. He is running really well right now and you guys did what you needed to do. Understand that he is going to get his numbers, but don't let him beat you.

eh, it was just one blown tackle at the line of schrimmage away from keeping him to 64yds. either way, we didn't let him beat us :biggthump

you know if we got that tackle it would be the first time in 41 games that alaxander didn't get a 10 yard carry. That i believe is an all time nfl record

I thought Alexander was going to torch us for 3 TDs and unveil some sort of new dance?

Guess who's dancin now!

3-0, that's all that matters.

I'll be thrilled if we can split the next two games, and come home at 4-1 to face San Francisco.

And I'm diggin' how we're getting no respect from the media -- this is just like '82 all over again :)

When was the last time the Skins started 3-0? Was it 1991? I forgot, how did that season end? :thumb:

Re: We're 3-0 Thread

being accustomed to recent Skins history, definitely not used to coming out on the winning side of such close clutch games.

and could they be any closer? 1pt, two bombs in last 2minutes, and an opposing team's doink leading into OT. whew.

Moss is the difference. Moss and Jansen.

We need to start calling this team the cardiac kids. 3 wins by a total of 6 points!
What it proves is Gibbs is truly turning this into his kind of team. A winner.

Actually not really. He had one long carry. I was there and there was a bad holding call that went unnoticed. The entire crowd went insane. Alexander is really not a top 5 back in my opinion, he runs SOFT AS HELL. Anything up the middle he got STUFFED. His line is great though. You could put anyone with speed and run them outside the tackles.

If all the backs we played this season so far had that kind of line, they would have run for FAR more yards than him. He's just soft.

Re: We're 3-0 Thread

As much as I've been a detractor of Brunnell, my hat's off to him the past two games for doing what was necessary to get this team a win. That means having the guts to tuck the ball and run for a first down on 3rd and long or hanging in there knowing you're going to get clocked so you can complete a pass downfield. He may have lost a great deal of physical ability since his Jacksonville days, but he still has the great leadership skills that a good QB has.

I'd also like to offer kudos to Nick Novak on yesterday's game. Way to come back from a blocked FG... winning the game in OT. That winning kick looked like it had enough foot in it to be good from 50+!

I would hardly say Alexander's day was 'pretty good'.

He was bottled up for most of the game and wasn't a huge factor.
If we go 4-0 Im going to have a heart attack. Mainly because it'll be another close game and I can't take many more!
I must admit as much as I have been rolling around like an "old dog" filled with the incredible feelings over the Skin's play as of late! Additionally, I have been taking a EMT course over the web, so I can revive myself over the last second finish's.
Maybe things that "Go around, Do come around". We lost many close games last year, so.............. My vocabulary is changing as well. I can now use words that previously have have been grammatically incorrect when used together, Like Redskins, and Winning!!!! ENJOY!!!!!

Good teams find a way to win games, bad teams find a way to lose them.

So far this year we're finding a way to win, despite what some of the mediots may say, that's something to be proud of.

This has been an unreal feeling, and my wife looks at me like I just won the lottery so far this year, 3-0 is GREAT!!!!! Only thing that sucks is waiting for the next week.
As far as those mediots you talk about Matty, they are just that, when Steve Young says that the Skins are the worst put together undefeated team this year. Give me a break, I think he took one to many hits and concussions that he blanks out and misses the Redskins playing we have a very solid O-line, running backs, Wr, and the stout D and the QB is playing solid. Where Tampa Bay added Cadillac Williams and they are a better team than the Skins this year.

While I agree that he was bottled up most of the day and most of his yards came on one run, if he averaged this "less than pretty good" day all season he'd have 1,568 yards, 4.9 ypc, and 16 touchdowns.

As far as the victory, I'm happy that were able to squeak one out against a playoff team, albeit a soft playoff team. If we can come out of the next two weeks 1-1, I'll be very impressed.
