As if the jets defense isn't tough enough, they get Sheldon Richardson back from suspension and Matt Jones had a dislocated toe yesterday. Another positive-Defenses first int of the season. Got to win those turnover battles especially with a QB that struggles with ints.

Jones was standing just fine swaying back and forth on both feet. I don't know the specifics of the injury so I could be in the wrong but it looked like he was good enough to put his ass out there on the field. If Culliver and Garcon can play hurt so can you. |
Re: Falcons postgame positives and negatives
My useless stat of the week: Chris Baker is 1 sack away from tying Albert Haynesworth at #52 on the Redskins all time sack list with 6-1/2 sacks.
Not so useless: I really like what Baker is doing. He comes in, has fun and does his job with a smile on his face. Need more Chris Bakers.. |

Re: Falcons postgame positives and negatives
I am interested to see how Alf does with Jones being out. I have seen many articles about Alf needing to get into a rhythm. If he rips off 2 or 3 100 yard games, it will be hard to put Jones back in.

A sprained toe is next to impossible to run on. Some injuries you can play through, some you can't. |

Fuck man!! If it's not one injured CB, it's another. Can we just have all CB'S be healthy?

As a fan, I knew he fell down, but didn't realize he had already messed up by looking back prematurely. I'm also surprised by Kirk's post game interview in the clip. I was fully expecting him to ask Ryan Grant to go look himself in the mirror to see what he could have done better (cheeky, uncalled for sarcasm). Instead, he immediately pointed out what he could have done better on the play: slide the protection so he wasn't throwing hot. |

Not putting that int on him, but Grant was pretty much invisible the entire game. Why not go to Garçon or Crowder? I disagree with Cooley as I think KC's first pick was his fault. The ball needed to be obviously out in front of Garçon, and not so far behind him. Hopefully this is just some growing pains with a young team. I do see why they picked KC, and I've always felt he was the best guy. However, at some point he needs to stop turning the ball over. Hopefully the 2nd half of the season we'll see improvement there with him and the timing with his wr's. |
Re: Falcons postgame positives and negatives
Positives:
Crowder- Gonna be a top slot WR in this league if he keeps improving. Maybe Bill Polian wasnt insane when he said Julian Edleman. Thompson- Has really shown growth as a 3rd down RB Breeland- No fear as a CB, definitely has been our top secondary player for the last 2 seasons Baker- The guy has been a monster this season Negatives That 3rd and goal WR screen, I feel like that is where we lost the game. |

Ross knows 1 receiver spot right now, therefore the lack of balls to him. John Keim @john_keim 7h7 hours ago FWIW: Have written this, but: 1 reason Rashad Ross doesn't play more is that he knows 1 WR spot. Same spot as Garcon. limits Ross 4 now |
Re: Falcons postgame positives and negatives
Went to the Redskins bar in San Diego for the 1st time. It was awesome singing HTTR when we scored.
Place went ghost silence on the pick 6. Ughh, that would have been one sick win. I was shocked how easily Freeman ran all over our defense. Seems like we should have been familiar with their run scheme. Defense did a good job of bending but not breaking except for last series of game. I hate the damn prevent defense. Got carved up. The heart of this team is very promising thru 5 games. That's the best part of the season so far, seeing that. |
Re: Falcons postgame positives and negatives
With the number of injuries at CB, I wouldn't seeing them sign Richard Crawford again.

with all the injuries its time to be able to suit up all 53 on game day. the NFL is so concerned with the level of competition yet teams are being devastated with injuries ..i don't get this at all..except GREED has something to do with it..

And I think we need to give that kid some credit. He is a really good RB, better than I thought he was. |

Re: Falcons postgame positives and negatives
Bad:
The run game overall. But, here is something specific I've noticed since the preseason. Compton, despite being a very good run blocker, hurts more then helps the run game when he plays TE. Whenever Compton comes in at TE the defense KNOWS it a run. Last game: He came in at TE 5 times by my count for a total of 6 yards gained. Thats 1.2 ypc on run plays with Compton at TE. 3 of those runs were for no gain. |

I read somewhere (ESPN I think) that the inactive rule is actually intended to equalize the game. A team that has 53 players healthy has a competitive advantage over those that (like us) have lots of players injured. By having inactives, it forces teams to choose their depth carefully and lessens the impact of multiple injuries. I don't remember the inactive list this past week but were there any who we needed to step in at game time but couldn't? Perhaps they should tweek it some so inactives could be designated "emergency players" and, like emergency QB's, the players they come in for could not go back in the game. |

I do think your tweek would be a good one also. |

Re: Falcons postgame positives and negatives
Im a Cousins fan but the 2 interceptions were on him to varying degrees. i didnt expect this level of inaccuracy from him. the inside post route was his money route but he seems to be off time, throwing it behind guys. i dont think he is throwing it late, just not leading guys enough.
with desean out, that intermediate middle area is not cleared out like it used to be. tighter windows but cousins has to improve his mid passing game. i did not expect this coming into week 1. 1st int - inaccurate ball, unfortunate bounce, nothing more to it imo. 2nd int - cousins makes a blind throw. Im guessing pre-snap he reads pressure and reads Grant as his hot route. But .... post-snap, cousins just throws it out there. i dont think he got to read the play post snap, i dont think he saw anything expect some big guys coming free towards him and he just throws it out there and hopes for the best. He just threw it out there hoping his pre-snap coverage read was accurate and Grant would be where he was supposed to be. I know I am asking a lot, but it was 2nd and 8, not 4th down. you just dont make a blind throw like that. when live bullets are flying, im sure its hard to make proper split second decisions but kirk didnt have to treat that down like the game was on the line. it wasnt. |

I dare say it's Litchenessitgieriietiger that needs a look in the off-season. Reading how good he is at making line calls but how poorly he's been graded each week. If we get pressure it IS often up the gut. |
