We win the last three, we win the division.
|
Re: 2014 NFL Schedule
If we go anything less than 3-1 in the first four, the season is over. If we can't beat Hou and Jax forget it and we have to keep pace in the east by winning one of our first two division matchups.
|
Re: 2014 NFL Schedule
Only thing I've learned to be a safe bet going into any season is that any team with a healthy Peyton or Brady will be above .500. Everything else is essentially a cluster.
Like the fact we could be facing 4 rookie QB. Schedule looks good, 3 of final 4 at home? Gud bye week. Folks, SF and Seattle are really our only super tough games, I'll take that. HTTR!
I would throw @ Indianapolis into that category too. They will only be a better team this year. RGIII and Luck in their first regular season meeting... |

Oh man! Maybe when we play the vikings this time we won't throw a corner face to the shortest guy on the field with the game on the line !?!? :-l

Re: 2014 NFL Schedule
Good chance we'll be playing both Bridgewater and Manziel with Houston, Jacksonville, Minnesota, and Tampa Bay on the schedule. Can't wait to see how those two perform in the NFL.
My early W-L predictions...(7-9) At Houston - Win Vs. Jacksonville - Win At Philadelphia - Loss Vs. New York - Loss Vs. Seattle - Loss At Arizona - Loss Vs. Tennessee - Win At Dallas - Loss At Minnesota - Loss Vs. Tampa Bay - Win At San Francisco - Loss At Indianaplolis - Loss Vs. St. Louis - Win At New York - Win Vs. Philadelphia - Loss Vs. Dallas - Win |
Re: 2014 NFL Schedule
After going 3-13 last year and now having a rookie HC and a questionable QB and defense I think 6 to 9 wins from this schedule is about right.
|
Re: 2014 NFL Schedule
No predictions from me till I see Griffin on the field, this team could be in the playoffs just like it was 3-13 last year.
|
Re: 2014 NFL Schedule
I'm going to try my best and not make any predictions, after I drove down to VA from NYC last Training Camp and I thought we looked GREAT. Need to stop wearing those rose coloured glasses.

I think that assumption would be right for about 80% of the teams on our schedule as well. |

True but with this team I am leaning more toward the 6 than the 9 wins. There's just too many question marks and under performers to think this team can be over .500. |
We win the last three, we win the division.
I agree. First 3-13 division winner ever! but seriously, this is a good layout of the opponents for us. I think it sets it up nicely for the Skins to be in contention for the division on the 1st of December. Of course that means they have to coach, and play, and get along like professionals, not turf squatting animals |

Our advantage is playing in a fairly mediocre division in the east. I think if you look just as the team's talent and depth, I think it exceeds the Cowboys and the Giants. Its comparable to Philly, and I give Philly a slight advantage. There is no reason to think we couldnt win the division if the defense plays better. Our Special teams will be better period. Coaching to me is our question mark. This team won the division 2 years ago, we can certainly finish over .500. |
Re: 2014 NFL Schedule
It's the offseason, so my glasses are fully rose colored, but I don't see Gruden, RGIII, or our offense as any issue at all. I also agree that ST will be improved, period, because it can't be worse. So that leaves us back at the point of what will our defense be like. I don't have any idea on that one.
Day after schedule release prediction: 9-7, 2nd in division behind the Giants. Philly 3rd Dallas 4th |
Re: 2014 NFL Schedule
The only season prediction that I will make before the draft is that there will be many more predictions.

Re: 2014 NFL Schedule
I tend to oversimplify things but the NFL is a quarterback league so here's how I'm doing way too early predictions based on how RG3 stacks up against the opposing QB.
Clear advantage- RG3 is definitely better than whomever is at QB for the Texans, Jags, Vikings and Bucs and he's better than Jake Locker as well, that's 5 wins. Slight advantage- I'd take him over Carson Palmer and Sam Bradford, but will split based on home field so add one more win there for 6 wins. Split decision- In the division, I trust him more than Romo but I trust Romo more than our defense, split games and add a win. I'm not sold on Foles 100% but I'm going with a split here as well, add a win. I think we've seen the beginning of the Manning slide, add 2 wins for a total of 10. Disadvantage- Wilson, Kaepernick and Luck are all ahead of RG3 in my book so call those losses. 10-6 in a prediction that means nothing. |

We need to revisit this thread after the draft.

But both Kaep and Wilson have more significant experience and stronger teams (especially Wilson) than RG3. |
Re: 2014 NFL Schedule
I don't know why people think Wilson is soo far ahead of RGIII (he isn't) and Kaepernick is better at all. (Which he isn't)

With all my heart, I hope Luck throws 3 INT's in the Colts game, and Griffin leads a 35-17 rout. |

They write those things to be controversial. I can beleive RGIII is not one of the 100 best players right now but to say Russell Wilson is number 12; please. I take Luck over RW. |

Its not a mediocre division its a lousy division and that definitely helps. Coaching is a huge question mark as is QB. What RG3 shows up this year? If its rookie year RG3 then I do think this team will finish above .500. If its last season's RG3 then 6 wins might be a stretch. I really think in a lot of ways this is a make or break year for RG3. The injury is behind him and the knee brace is off, and its his 3rd year in the league, there are no more excuses. If, God forbid, he has another year like he did last year then it opens up a whole can of worms about him being a bust and the Skins gave away their future for a bust a QB and if there's one thing this team doesnt need its opening up another can of worms. |

Clearly the first 4 games, regardless of hype, he just wasn't ready. And by the time he was, the rest of the team was in dysfunction mode. I also don't think coaching is near the question mark that some make it out to be. I know it's arena league, but Gruden showed he is capable of managing a whole team effectively in it. We know he can run top NFL offenses, and he has a passion for the game (see Cincy Hard Knocks clip). Put another way, if this core group, BA-JG-Griffin et all, don't get it done (by that I mean put a top caliber team on the field week in week out) then I don't have any clue how the Skins ever will. |
