Fox dropped the ball big time, and/or the MLB did, in not talking about Tony Gwynn at all yesterday. No tribute is shameful

Why didn't they do that? Kinda weak Also weak is Kershaw not starting and wainwright giving the lead and possible game to the al. Hello, home field advantage is at stake |

Yeah, that was rough to watch, can't even imagine how much that probably hurt. Even though I'm a Nats fan I'm rooting for him to come back and play the way he did before, guys like him and Kershaw are a treat to watch when you aren't rooting against them. I would be surprised if it doesn't affect him the first couple times he steps back into the batters box though, that kind of shit might haunt you forever. |
Re: MLB 2014 Season
O's are 6 outs away from clinching the East!
|
Re: MLB 2014 Season
NL East 2014 Division Champs! Can't wait to head to the park to see some playoff baseball. I just hope this time around once tomorrow comes it's business as usual.
|
Re: MLB 2014 Season
Merry Clinchmas O's and Nat's fans. Was cool staying up with my buddies (all nats fans) and clinching within 20 minutes of each other.
Should be a fun October, and would love to see a Baltimore-Washington WS finish. Plus we'll get Crush Davis back in time to hit the game winning HR. Re: MLB 2014 Season
Awesome for the Os and Nats to do clinch on the same night.
Im worried that the losses of weiters, manny and davis plus hardy's back will be tough to overcome. our bottom 3 or 4 (flaherty, schoop, hundley/joseph, k johnson and de aza) can contribute here and there but for the most part bat below .240 |

Re: MLB 2014 Season
Any Orioles fans nervous about how Buck has handled the last two weeks of the season?
|
Re: MLB 2014 Season
What an amazing game today by Jordan Zimmermann. And gotta give Steven Souza a ton of credit for the amazing catch he made at the end to preserve the no-hitter. This isn't the first time a DC team has had a ton of momentum going into the playoffs, but hopefully our season has a long way to go. I'm definitely rooting for a Beltway WS, that would be great for this area.

That would be sweet but I have some reservations about my O's. I think they lose in 4 to the Tigs |

Yeah I have my reservations about playing the Cards or Dodgers, but if you want to be the best you have to beat the best. |
Re: MLB 2014 Season
I just look at the differences in rotations. It is hard to beat a team when Verlander might be your number 3. I did just get cable last year so I am happy I finally get to watch AL playoffs. I hate that a cable network shows those games.

Re: MLB 2014 Season
id feel a lot better about the Os if we were healthy.
the loss of manny was huge. he was hitting somewhere around .330 since the break and is a huge reason we had the no. 1 defense (our D might have slipped from no. 1 since he went down). hundley worries me bc he cant hold runners and runners in scoring position will be at a premium. hope hardy is fully healthy and ready to go |
Any Orioles fans nervous about how Buck has handled the last two weeks of the season?
im not. our team is full of veterans and buck is going to do as good a job as any manager in keeping his players fresh and ready. but .. it still worries me that we have had such a long time "off". and injuries .. |
Re: MLB 2014 Season
and so it begins....
|
Re: MLB 2014 Season
What a great way to start the playoffs the crowd was fired up and a walk off win by a team that hasn't been in the post season in almost 30 years. With those two teams pitching and hitting I was surprised by the amount of scoring.
|
Re: MLB 2014 Season
downtown did not have all the Os banners and stuff that i saw from 2012.
seems like the city was caught a lil off guard ... despite knowing the Os had home field for weeks now ... lil disappointed |
Re: MLB 2014 Season
What a great call by Bobby Dickerson here in the 8th! Big insurance run there!
Edit: Ok at the time it appeared to be a big insurance run in the end it was just the start of a drubbing. The KC-LA game has some great D thus far. Cain is quite the centerfielder but quite raw. |
Re: MLB 2014 Season
Man! What a great game today! Nice going in to Detroit up 2 games. Chen needs to be better next time his number is called
|
Re: MLB 2014 Season
That was awesome for the Orioles. I'm pullin for them or the royals to go to the worlds series.
Bryce Harper. Good lord son. How do you get the bat through the zone so fast on a 97 mph fast ball, inside? Holy shit |
Re: MLB 2014 Season
The O's are the only home team to have won in the divisional series thus far. I hope that trend continues for their series. Can't believe KC is up 2-0. I was expecting them to split in LA with their pitching as good as it is but wow.
|
Re: MLB 2014 Season
so I was at both, or should I say all three, Nats games this weekend and I have to say that this is the lowest I've ever felt as a sports fan. I know the series/season technically isn't over but I feel like this whole city is so cursed the it doesn't matter. f'ing misery.
|
Re: MLB 2014 Season
That was definitely a tough pill to swallow. Especially giving up the tying run with two outs in the 9th. I couldn't stay up to follow it on gamecast (I don't have foxsports or even espn for that matter) but when I saw the results on mlb.com this morning I was heart broken for the Nats fans. As you said the city deserves a winner.
|
Re: MLB 2014 Season
Nats have no one to blame but themselves. Zimmerman shouldn't been pulled and it's ashame you guys gave so much money to shit players your going to limit ur options in the offseason. Team looks done
|
Re: MLB 2014 Season
I watched the whole thing, and yes, the Nats have themselves to blame. There is no way that they should have given up the run in the 9th inning with 2 outs.
Also, where in the heck were the Big Bats? Bryce Harper didn't hit well and neither did Jayson Worth. I still say that the Nats have a good team, and some great pitchers, but it seems that their batting is the problem. |
Re: MLB 2014 Season
Detroit has a playoff baseball game and a football game pretty much at the same time. I wonder how parking is down town.

A bunch of the fans had tickets to both games and got to see 2 losses in 1 day. |
Re: MLB 2014 Season
Buck yeah!
|
Re: MLB 2014 Season
nats fans left the stadium in the 10th.
in a playoff game. dc sports fans are the worst. the absolute worse. that was embarrassing. |
