I've been critical of Witt, but he's made some pretty good moves this series. Putting Ariza on Augustin was the biggest one in game 2. I was also unhappy with the Nene trade when it happened- I still don't trust his health for a full season, but when he's on the court the Wizards are a different team. He flat out abused the newly crowned DPOY last night.

Wall's post-game interview last night was curt- I like that attitude heading into a home venue where they have been slacking this year.

Silver definitely put the hammer down on him, but he deserved it. Not that Donald Sterling being a racist should be surprising to anyone given his history, but he was bound to slip up sometime. Sounds like it's going to be a hell of a legal battle trying to force Sterling to sell, but Silver will definitely have the support of the other owners. I'll defer to JR's knowledge on this, but I think the main thing is money. If every sponsor pulls out until Sterling is gone and the fans protest by not coming to the games, eventually he will be forced to consider offers.

Can someone explain to me just how that will work forcing Donald Sterling to sell the team? If all of the owners vote unanimously to remove him, then is he expected to voluntarily turn over the team or would it take going to court, etc.. to force him to do it?

What happens if the owners do not have enough votes to remove him? Will his ban be lifted since at that point they can't remove him as owner? I'm pretty sure something like this has never happened before, but has it???

For the most part I agree with Kareem's take but the tricky part is having someone labeled a racist is not something that should be taken lightly. It's in the same ballpark as wife beater and sex offender. If someone is incorrectly labeled a racist it has the potential to ruin their entire life. Better 9 guilty men go free than 1 innocent man found guilty himself. Though I guess its ironically an improvement. Back in the day being a racist didn't mean much so the fact that its taken seriously now is most certainly a plus.

So while the tactics used to expose Sterling were absolutely deplorable and most regrettable for this situation they were kind of necessary. It would have been easy enough for him to explain away the other incidents. With this theres no doubt.
So, if we’re all going to be outraged, let’s be outraged that we weren’t more outraged when his racism was first evident. Let’s be outraged that private conversations between people in an intimate relationship are recorded and publicly played. Let’s be outraged that whoever did the betraying will probably get a book deal, a sitcom, trade recipes with Hoda and Kathie Lee, and soon appear on Celebrity Apprentice and Dancing with the Stars.

Hope that series goes 7 to give the Wiz kids some rest. I think we match up well with either of them. Atlanta spreads the floor well and Indy has the talent... but the Wizards have better talent than the former and Indy's been discombobulating. Can't look ahead to the ECF, however. One game at a time.

Oh and Nene straight up abused the DPOY this series.

I was initially fearful of playing Chicago based on how they ended the season. They were the hottest team in the East after the break. After the second game, I started to realize how hard their starters were pushed during the regular season just to make the playoffs. Hats off to them for even getting to the playoffs, much less the 4th seed.

The second round is not going to be that easy, whether it is Atlanta or Indy. But the way the Wiz are locking in defensively at the right time is huge. As long as there are no injuries, I'm pretty confident with the matchups.
I think that's more indicative of what they thought of the Zards more than anything.
maybe. To be honest I dont think they really watch much of the Wiz. 2 guy who do watch and study the game is Sir Charles and Bill Simmons, they picked the Wiz. The media has gotten so water down with poor coverage and analysis it become more about the process and "that game" than the actual game on the floor.

It was pretty clear after game 2, Wiz were the much better team. You didnt need stats, talk, etc. Just 2 eyes.

There was a great read online last night about the evolution of the Mike Wilbon articles from the last week...they went from the Bulls getting the best draw possible in the Wiz and winning decisively too how much of a crap team the Bulls are. All were fairly poor in about every catagory

Re: NBA Season 2013-2014

To be fair...the Wizards have been bad for so long and so consistently that it is hard to see them as anything other than awful. They were terrible last year with this same crew more or less (well a similar crew at least). And honestly they were so up and down this year that it is hard to square what they are now with even what they were 8 weeks ago.

he's never been a good shooter, so its something he is gonna have to work on, but this year he actually improved. He's developed a jump shot. He shot better than both Kyrie Irving and Paul George this year. Its a work in progress.

Nene on the floor is a big difference for this team.

Can't forget to mention how much I enjoyed watching a DC team advance in the playoffs using stout defense. Wizards beat the Bulls at their own game, not sure how many times I'm going to get to enjoy that in the future but it was nice to see it for at least one series. Sure both ATL and the Pacers will be tough, but I'm so happy to see our guys experience success in the playoffs, even if they don't get past the second round.

Wiz kids with a huge W. Bradley Beal has arrived. Is this the best backcourt in the L?

Game 2, keep up the defensive intensity. Ariza doing work on both ends of the floor- going to be a hard decision when contract time arrives... he's going to get paid, but can the front office afford to keep him and Gortat (with Porter waiting in the wings)? Fresh legs probably made the difference in the rebounding category... step on their throats and don't let up.

And what the heck happened to Roy Hibbert? Did a teammate actually sleep with his gf? He's tanking the series for Indy.

Hibbert needs to go, he doesn't care. Kinda being a bitch. To many egos on that pacers team. Wiz don't get enough dap for their defense.

Re: NBA Season 2013-2014

I used to be a fan of Hibbert because of the GT connection, but now I'm just hoping Vogel keeps him in the starting lineup. No points or rebounds in 18 minutes? From a starter? Can't ever remember seeing a stat line like that before. There is definitely a long way to go in this series, but it's nice to see the Wizards stay hot out of the gate.

And way to go Bradley Beal! If this is Beal at 20, I can't wait to see what he looks like in his prime. His shot is so natural. Ariza ballin' on both sides today, I love the fact that there's so much to be excited about from the 'Zards. I really hope Wittman keeps up the intensity, I feel like that's going to be a key in this series. We gotta keep them from setting up their transition d if we want to keep getting open looks. Win or lose, I'm so proud of this team for coming together and really emphasizing playing as a team.

Beal's proving why the front office didn't trade him to OKC for Harden... and considering how little effort Harden plays with on the defensive end, I think they made the right decision. Plus Harden requires the ball in his hands way more than Beal, so it would have been a tough fit with Wall. Wall and Beal should grow together for a very long time.

Great post. Beal's the perfect compliment to Wall since he can either spot up and shoot off a pick or become the primary ball handler if Wall needs some rest. I was all for the Harden trade when the option was on the table, but I'm glad it didn't happen.

Yeah, he's done a great job on the court, but he rubbed too many people in Golden State's FO the wrong way, which is the biggest reason he's being fired, IMO. It seems like Jackson always got the most out of his players, and he did a darn good coaching job against the Clippers in their series, especially considering Andrew Bogut was out. It'll be interesting to see who they replace him with, and how the players will respond to the new coach. Pretty sure they loved Jackson. That team's got a lot of talent though, so if they get somebody decent, they should be contenders in upcoming years.

Mark Jackson is certainly a better coach than Kevin McFail.

I think the train of thought is that the Warriors are too talented to be sitting at home this early in the playoffs.

Also when you're a my way or the highway type guy the margin for error is much smaller. Really the only times those personality types work is either when things are so bad that everyone needs a kick in the butt or when things are running so perfectly that no one dares to question the braintrust. When you fall into that no mans land of early playoff exits with high expectations that style of leadership tends to rub the wrong way on people. Basically something along the lines of 'we're obviously not so bad seeing as how we're in the playoffs but your leadership style certainly isn't allowing us to be within striking distance of a championship.'

In other news Lady Gaga fans are freaking out. And right now my nerves are so grated that I want to say F that has been. We've had some great times. Poker Face, Telephone, that song that made people realize Wale existed but thats over now.
