Have no idea man that's why I asked. Garcon was an inconsistent WR to begin with, and now he looks to have a nagging injury for the remainder of his career. Really, really hard to imagine he can be our #1 guy, but he's getting paid like one and we need that money badly.
I mean, at this point I think you do whatever is best salary cap wise. Cut him? Force immediate renegotiation of contract?
Inhalllllllllllllllllllllllleeee, exhallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllleeeeeee The Goat just gotta ounce maillllll |
Re: great injury news
Why is Garcon so against having surgery? Going out there in pain isn't doing anyone any good. He needs to shut it down and try and come back next year.
I wouldn't expect much better play from Merriweather than we're getting from the other guys. |

I wouldn't expect much better play from Merriweather than we're getting from the other guys.
I would guess because the foot/ligament surgery is no guarantee at this point and may even make things worse. From all that I am seeing, this is not a "let's put in a couple stitches, wait a couple weeks and ta daaa" operation. It's a "we're going to try some screws, a cadaver ligament and hot glue, keep you off your feet for 3 months, in a boot for three more and then pray that (1) it all holds together and (2) we didn't hit the nerve cluster right above the big toe which could create incredible pain and loss of movement" kind of surgery. Based on my experience and from what I have seen, this is essentially lis franc type injury (torn ligament attached to metatarsil) except that it is on the bottom of the foot as opposed to on the topside. |
Re: great injury news
Why are we acting like Garcon is gonna work out? He's done! Move on...
|
Re: great injury news
why would he take less money? the contract he has is what he has, and dumping him costs more next year than keeping him.
why not see how he plays before making reactionary decisions? |

Well said. Best post yet! |
Garcon was awesome with Curtis Painter throwing him the ball. He looked pretty damn good for a brief moment with RG-3. Would be a damn shame if this injury is career altering. I really felt like those two had a connection and were going to be a dynamic duo for years. I keep hearing that the foot surgery could make things worse - how? Worse in that he will have to be shutdown till next year or worse in that it will heal wrong possibly? What the hell is up with Aldrick Robinson after the hot start? Would love to have AA back. He showed serious potential in 2010 and that was with no qb.
Merriweather I am excited about. My God if he is in football shape he has to be an upgrade from what we have now. JB vs Polumbus - i vote puke on both of them - JB is damaged goods - no way around it. |

why not see how he plays before making reactionary decisions?
Like I said, do whatever is best cap-wise. You can't expect anything from Garcon at this point, regardless how you felt about him three months ago. It sounds like a freak weird injury that pretty much makes you gimpy...forever? So yeah, if it would cost more now to cut him then keep, wait until it costs less. The positive thing is we don't have to go in a desperate search for elite WR talent, assuming Fred Davis is still Fred Davis next year. Go grab an affordable vet, like Jabar "How do like me now?!" Gaffney, and spend some real money/draft resources on RT, secondary, secondary, secondary. |
Re: great injury news
coles had a foot injury that never healed, but he was still a good WR afterwards. he lost his speed though.
lets at least give te dude a chance to see what he has though instead of assuming he's done without proof. |

We don't have one WR that's dependable. After years of trying to upgrade the position, old man Moss is still the best guy. |

And even Moss is dropping the ball....... Frustrating!!!! Someone said earlier that we have the wrost luck in finding receivers...... Look at Brandon Lloyd, leaves here and goes on to be good once again? We are cursed! |

I dont think our coaching is strong with the recievers. Look at all young guys Shanny has drafted, none have made significant impacts. Pathetic. Sadly I still think we need to keep drafting WRs. |

Hankerson, Robinson, and Austin. Out of these I liked Terrance Austin the best. The Redskins should have kept him. At least he could hang on to the goddamn football unlike Hankerson and Robinson. |
Re: great injury news
I thought Austin was a lock to make the team because he could return and play offense, unlike Banks going into the season.
Until we signed Briscoe, who has done NOTHING, Austin was probably in the mix. I wish we'd kept him over Briscoe. |

Re: great injury news
I thought Briscoe would be our redzone guy. He was on the inactive list at first...then they starting playing him a little and he looked terrible. Is he in the doghouse now or are they gonna still try to give him some shots where I thought they originally kept him for? The Redzone.

Briscoe doesn't seem like a bad player. But after scoring all those TDs for Tampa Bay last season there was a good reason the Bucs didn't want him anymore. Anthony Armstrong is a free agent now. The Redskins need to re-sign him. |
Re: great injury news
Briscoe caught a few passes against Carolina, hopefully he can build from there. If you sign Armstrong then I would cut Banks.

Just put a fork on this guy and cut him lose for once and for all, I'm sick of all the time invested on him.

lol I gave JB two weeks before he got banged up again, looks like I was way too optimistic. Makes more sense to cut him next year though cap wise.

WOW I heard about Jamaal Brown....worthless. That was all of 5 days.
It would be pretty funny though if on sunday Garcon and Merriweather are good to go, then all of sudden during warmups the same thing happens like it did earlier in the season with Aldrick and Merriweather, only difference is that its garcon instead. |
