Kyle was horrible yesterday. The gimmick stuff wokred the first few weeks but now teams are on to it. Now it's time for you to adjust.
Thanks for bringing back the smack, smoot! Officiating must also be added to the smack. Aside from not following the leagues definition of pass interference, the deangelo Williams touchdown was bogus. The ref blew the whistle. Skins players stopped trying to tackle him because of it. Yes the play whistle should not have been blown, but once it was, the play should have been over. That's the rule.

And no smack can be complete without mentioning rg3. His throws have been very innacurrate the pas two weeks. I don't know what's causing it, but his accuracy is normally one of the strongest aspects of the game.
This week, yes but last week his passes hit receivers in the hands no fewer than 7 times (10 drops but some were behind, high and low) that were flat out dropped passes.

He still had a few drops yesterday, and someone said after the game, maybe it was Doc, said he thought RG3 was throwing different based on all the drops last week. Like he was trying to make perfect throws, and or holding the ball a little longer. All those drops definately had a negative effect.
It's relatively simple. Backups at WR, TE and RT are all playing starter level minutes without starter level ability. Injuries happen all across the league and we don't have the depth to compensate when they hit us.
If this is really the case, which it very well may be, then we as Redskins fans HAVE to find fault with the one who assembled this roster full of 2nd stringers and that would be the head coach who also has final say on personnel.

I've got some smack for Cofield, Bowen, Jenkins and Kerrigan. NO SACKS the last two weeks. Can ANY of you get any kind of pass rush???? Carolina's guys sure did. Why can't you???

Kerrigan had a sack last week against Pitt.

But yeah in general these guys are getting zero pressure.

Can't really disagree with you there. I have much higher regard for Shanahan the coach than I do in Shanahan the GM.

I was actually enjoying the blitzes yesterday. When we play coverage we get owned so we might as well dial up some pressure. Against people like Manning/Romo, maybe not so much, but against the Vicks/Newtons why not?

This is a good point, but i wonder how much the rib injury had to do with his accuracy issues...

Well we talked about this before he joined the team, Shanahan's philosophy is a bit curious when it comes to selecting players. And remember he has the final say, though he listens to all input.

This is the type of stuff that just angers me the most about the skins:

Andrew Luck tops Ryan Tannehill, Doug Martin, Bears defense, NFL Week 9 thoughts - Don Banks - SI.com

How long does team have to be in the basement?

Just frustrating all around; I have actually this year lost my enjoyment of even the rest of the league. If your favorite team can't even compete at all what is the point of watching.

I have said this before but if not for this site I probably have dropped the Skins by now. I didn't have super high expectations for this year and been happy anywhere between 7 and 9 wins. Right now looking sub 6; there is as a team for a win stand point (the most important stand point) has been no improvement under MS. I hate to say because I don't want us to have to start all over again but I think MS and companies ship has sailed.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Panthers at Redskins)

I was at the game yesterday, and here are my observations:

- I dont break down film, and won't pretend I'm an expert, but the Panthers defense had multiple plays where they only have 1 deep safety, who would shade toward the side the Skins had more than 1 WR. Most times, Hankerson was left one and one with his corner. Why doesn't Kyle exploit this more? No trust in WRs to catch it? No trust in OL to block long enough?
- The refs were atrocious. Period. Replacement bad. Several bad calls. The hold on the 2nd non-TD late in the game probably took the cake.
- OLine down the stretch played very poorly.
- Front seven is getting very little push. Newton had all damn day to throw the ball.
- Brandon Banks is wasting a roster spot.
- The secondary has 2 weeks to get healthy and start playing a helluva lot better.
- The Skins continue to be outcoached (I'd say outclassed, but the Panthers showed no class yesterday) and if Shanny's thrown in the towel already, it's only going to get worse after the bye.

Shanny throwing in the white towel clearly shows that this team's depth is still a huge question mark. The injuries are mounting (Orakpo, Carriker, Merriweather, Davis, Garcon) and the guys replacing these folks (with the exception of Paulson, who has stepped up) just aren't good enough. And with the Skins facing another year of reduced salary cap, it's going to be another 2 seasons before they can built their depth back up.
Does Fred Davis even come back next year?
Great Question.

Coming off a torn achilles will he be wanting a huge deal still? Do we tell him to walk and draft a TE high? do we sign a healthy TE like Martellus Bennett in FA. Good question.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Panthers at Redskins)

The team will have all the leverage with Davis. I'd bring him back with a one year prove you're healthy type of deal.

Yeah there was just terrible calls on both sides. The personal foul against Morgan was just horrible. Not sure how some of these refs keep their jobs. One ref blew the whiste while the play was still going on. Just in excusable stuff.

this is what i was thinking... we can't cover anyone anyway might as well try and blitz and hurry the qb and force a bad throw... seriously something has to change on D... personell we are stuck with... but the coach we dont have to be.... i just hope this bye week lets us as a team take a long hard look at ourselves and get the eff up to play philly in 2 weeks

And on both plays into the end zone where Wilson was covering he didn't look once back toward the ball. I get it you look to the receiver's eye for a sign of the ball coming. But that doesn't mean you keep looking into his eyes. You're not out on a date.
I'm furious at the way we have been using Alf. I understand that he was hurt late in the game, but why switch to Royster on 3rd and -5? He's getting good yardage everytime he touches the ball. I like(d) Royster, but I'm onboard the Alf train now.
I want to put every open catch on the DB's. They are horrible, but it looks more like a scheme problem than anything.

Add WR drops, no pressure from front 7, & the inability to cover a slow fat guy like me let alone NFL caliber WR's to the list.

I'm not really a Royster fan. I haven't seen anything exciting from him. AlfMo is a hard runner, Helu is a speedy 1-cut kinda running back. Royster is ???? I mean he just seems like he's kinda "there". God knows he can't block. It doesn't look like he's a hard runner (or maybe I'm just spoiled on Morris now). So... Eh?

God knows I've had it in with Wilson since Game 3. I know people around here love to give players the benefit of the doubt and everyone thinks that I think Wilson is the second coming of Satan, but seriously, the guy has consistently sucked for the majority of this season so far. I mean the whole secondary blows, but watching Wilson out there is like having Kevin Barnes back on the team. Dude is always getting beat, doesn't look at the ball EVER and if he does its not until the last second. And why is it when I see replays, Wilson is like 5 yards off his man? Even in a man coverage play? When WRs cut on Wilson, he's toast.

Riley I think has been solid mostly, but absolutely stunk in the Panthers game.

And we all know Polumbus should've never been a starting RT.

Really that Panthers game just looked completely mailed in. You shouldn't be getting dominated by a 1-6 team at home. Completely gutless and heartless performance by the entire team.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Panthers at Redskins)

Hey Smoot you make some good points on the play calling on in the Red Zone. I would like to see RGIII have more of a pass option near the goaline. i do not like running sweeps near or on the goal line. I hear skins fans wanting to get rid of SHANNY but why do this when we are finally getting younger talent on the roster . We have a future star QB and a nice young RB in Morris let's keep them in the same system and let them grow with the coach. Lets be patient and not over react over a few losses. Remember this year we take our lumps so next year we kick some butt. Hey look Andy Reid will be available would any Redskin fan want him to be our coach? I rather stick with Mike S.
