Re: NFL Power Rankings
This Power Ranking thread kinda got me thinking of not only redboxes but what the Warpath's Power Rankings would look like? probably something like this:
1. Chico 2._____ 3._____ 4._____ 5.... Kinda like the espn's new qb rating of relevance, context, grammar, spelling, comedy, knowledge, and other things associated with winning. evaluation would be a pain, but we have alot of gametape. would be alot of mod work though |

I know that as a Buckeye fan I should hate TP, but I am still a fan. I've been singing his praises since February on different threads. I would use a 5th and not bat an eye. He is a big game performer. 2-1 in Bowl games and nearly rallied to win against the McCoy lead Horns. Oh yeah, we vacated last year's bowl. |

Boy it's been a long time since I've seen the Skins ranked dead last in the power rankings. Then again, I don't give a shit about power rankings anymore, they don't mean anything. They are just there to invoke discussion. So apparently they've succeeded in that regard here. So anyways, I helped my mom move yesterday. It was the most hellish day I've had in a quite a while. I couldn't see myself doing that on a daily basis, not at all. Now I know why those moving guys honestly don't have that good of a reputation. It's because they just don't care about your shit. |
Re: NFL Power Rankings
A much better power rankings, and not because of where they ranked the Redskins (not 32) but what they have to say which I agree with...
Pre Preseason Power Rankings | ProFootballFocus.com 26. Washington Redskins Reason to be cheerful: They had an excellent offseason where they managed to upgrade the talent on their roster. Reason to be concerned: They have a lot of new personnel that they’ll be trying to get the best of. It could take quite some time for them to gel into an effective unit. |
Re: NFL Power Rankings
shouldn't dead last be relegated to the teams picking 1-3 in the draft? didn't they earn that?

Lets see. Carolina, yes. Rookie QB from a spread system with very little official time to practice. A sophmore QB that was just horrible last year. Not totally giving up on Clausen but he might need to sign up for the John Beck change of scenery plan one day. Denver, eh could go either way. Their defense is undergoing a complete overhaul and as we know that doesn't always go very well. On the other hand Orton is a very solid QB. Buffalo, a scarpy team that will always play you tough. However they don't exactly have the worlds greatest head coach, Fitzpatrick is average, and they play in the AFC Beast. They're actually my pick for Luck next year. |

As far as the rankings , the teams from 14 down are all in the same heap .
It sucks, but I can't totally blame them. The Kerrigan thing isn't going so well so far, and Beck affair is almost considered a joke. I stated in another thread last night that it is sad when the Detroit Lions have more solid depth at Qb than we do. I mean really now. A few years back a lot of us were making fun of Grossman, but now he is a Skin it is like yeah baby!!!!!!! I don't think so. We need to draft a QB next season and in 2013 to get some decent depth.
I could agree with you more. This whole Beck thing is a joke. I mean I completely understand that we're rebuilding, but what surprises me is how people actually believe that this guy can take us somewhere. When it comes to Rex Grossman, lets be real, he's a very mediocre qb. He has proven without a resonable doubt that 3rd stringer at best. What I'm hoping for is a 2-14 or 3-13 season so we can get a top 3 pick and draft either Andrew Luck, Landry Jones, or Matt Barkley. |

Hoping for a 2-14 of 3-13 season? I cant get there, I mean I do understand the reasoning(and I agree it is sound), we will never be elite until we get an elite quarterback and the best way to do that is to get a high draft pick. However as a fan it is just not in me to route for them to lose. Look at Tampa with Josh Freeman, he was the 17th pick and he is proving to be a great young QB, Aaron Rodgers was a 24th, Drew Brees was a second round pick, Tom Brady was famously a 7th rounder. So I will keep hoping to win as many games as possible! |

Re: NFL Power Rankings
I can't wait to bump the Beck thread once the season is over and we don't have a top 3 pick so we can look back at everyone who said that's all starting Beck/Grossman will do for us. All I'm going to say is if you are going to make outlandish statements like that you better be prepared to back it up when the chips are down. And if I'm wrong and we do end up with a top 3 pick, please feel free to hold me accountable. People are acting like we took an undrafted rookie free quarterback who couldn't play Division 3 college football and are inserting him into the lineup on day 1.

I honestly hope Rex makes u eat ur words. Smh take that negative attitude somewhere else. |
Re: NFL Power Rankings
I have no idea what Beck can or can't do. That said, people writing off a second round pick after only 4 starts for a 1-15 team seems ridiculous. Granted he's not taken charge and forced himself into the lineup anywhere, but he has had a year to learn the system, get comfortable in it, and start developing. Isn't that how you "are supposed to" develop a qb? Maybe he sparks, maybe he falls flat, but I think that for a CB we were gonna cut, we ought to give him a chance.
As for the media writing him off, well DC media mad hatters clearly are gonna find fault with whomever MS put in there. Does anyone think that Gabbert would be getting any love from the DC media if he were here? I don't. In the end, for 1 qb(gabbert) we got two solid, imo, D players, for a D that definitely needed it. And if we need a qb, next years' crop is supposedly head and shoulders above this years. |
Re: NFL Power Rankings
Regardless of what they say to the public, I do not believe for a moment that either JB or Rex is intended to lead this team to the promised land....NOR do los dos Shanahan's believe that. They are basically place holders to take the helm until the francise guy can be acquired (while the team reloads)......presumably in the upcoming offseason. If they lead us to glory... be happy.
BTW....MS doesn't give F.... what you think. He's the coach for a reason....like cause he can? I applaud him for that....... |

The only time it is acceptable to "hope" for 3-13 is when you are 0-13.

I hear you on this. I'm not drinking koolaid and thinking that any of the three QBs are the answer, but I definitely think Rex is servicable. I thought he performed better in the offense than McNabb. The defense can really only improve. I guess there will always be hatters and debbie downers... |

i certainly dont hope for a 2-14 or 3-13 season but if i had to be realistic and honest in my prediction im thinking we go somewhere around 4-12 or 5-11. but i dont know much honestly. i usually predict an 8-8 season give or take 1. i think no matter who we have at qb our passing attack will be good to decent (8th ranked last year), our 30th ranked run game has to improve and i think it will. with OJ and hopefully a healthy LL our 30th ranked pass D has to improve. theres alot going on here, shanny and allen got to add some more of their guys. haslett got some suitable pieces for the 3-4. with all that said, theres reason to hope for progress from the 6-10 record last year but we finished the last half of the season 2-6. went 2-4 in the div, our div got better starting talent wise while we added alot of solid and depth guys. we could very well get swept in the div this year. i really hope things come together in all facets but im hesitant to think it will all click this year. im going to give it another year, more of the right players at the right price. next year i think we can make some noise, this year we our quietly building. |
I'm really tired of garbage takes like that too.
Hopefully we don't have to hear it all season.
This goes back to my argument thats now practically a rehersed speech. This is a team that went 6-10 last year with crappy QB play, the 31st ranked defense, and 24th ranked rushing attack. The O-Line is now very respectable. Jammal Brown is probably healed from his hip injury of a year ago, having a second year Trent Williams is almost like signing a pro bowl caliber player, Will Montgomery now has 2 years of starting experience, Chris Chester is a very solid edition, and Kory L did well at the lines easiest and least important position of LG. Oh yeah Rabach is gone to. Only real problem is depth. The D-Line has improved 10 fold with the additions of Cofield, Bowen, Neild, and Jenkins. Not to mention the progress made by holdovers Carriker and Bryant. The team now has a threat opposite Orakpo with Kerrigan and maybe a diamond in the rough with Jackson. FS is now all but fixed with OJ. Running back stable much improved Receivers improved. QB, only worse in terms of name recognition. Bottom line both the offense and defense are going into their second years with their respective systems. They also have one of the best coaches in the league. The overall schedule is easier then last year the only real difference is the toughest games this year are tougher then the toughest games last year (Pats this year over Colts last year). I'm not saying they're going to the Super Bowl or even making the playoffs but their floor is 6-10 save major major major injuries. |
