Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
The thing about Sellers for every great play/block he made, he'd turn around and make two boneheaded mistakes that would kill the team.

Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Smoot what big names are you hearing? As easy as it is to say the 'vinny/synder' era is over it still doesnt change the fact that we should have like 40 million to spend right? Required to spend. Anything on big name corners or just Josh Wilson? I suppose Jenkins could be a big chunk of it. Anything on bringing in Franklin too for NT?
No reason not to have depth on dline to rotate them in and out ya know |

Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Braylon's still being mentioned but I don't see it. Chris Chester has been floating out there. As is Colledge, who I brought up recently.
But honestly, in nearly 15 years of "covering" the Redskins I've never been thrown off track as much as I have this year. Part of it is me just not being as involved anymore, but a lot of it is the organization keeping a much better lid on things. Kind of hurts though, just two years ago Bruce and I are watching games on Sunday together...and now he won't even throw me a bone :( |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Colledge is in Arizona
|
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
We should take a look at Lyle Sendlein to take over for Rabach. He was the Cards starting center. He is only 27 and is a plus center. Not a pro bowler by any means but better than Casey was.

Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
That official now on Colledge? As of last night I heard Cardinals, Rams, and Redskins were the choices
|
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
don't think so on colledge ^
|
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
JLa says he's on the verge of signing.
|
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Oh ok.
Hopefully (fingers crossed) we'll be making that long expected FA signing on the DL official later this morning |

Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Yes
And I think you might hear the name Ronnie Brown today. We'll see |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Jenkins, Jammal/Harris + a decent RG and I'm pretty happy w/ FA
|
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
And our true #1 target since last fall is still available...though the Bucs have a huge advantage if they want to keep him

Are we talking about a certain ILB? I'd be for the signing as long as he can keep his helmet on for 60 minutes. |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
I see, well if he says so. I thought it was still being considered but not official.
But that does remind me, what's up with James Jones. One minute he's a the top of our wish list (allegedly) the next no team is even talking about him |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Rumors also flying on Junkies about Re: Cullen Jenkins signing.
Randle El cut be Steelers:) |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Looks like Stokley is out.

Ruud? No, but that'd be interesting Talking about Joseph. But he wants to stay in Tampa and Tampa wants to keep him and can...but they haven't yet |

Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Per Grant Paulson, Brandon Stokely NOT coming to Washington. Too many receivers here, per his agent. No go. Scratch him off the list.
|
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Last time we listen to his agent as the official source. Guess he spoke too soon yesterday

He's probably busy but in any event.... I had been up all day and went to bed at midnight when I got woken up by my wife at 1am telling me she was having contractions that were 2 min. apart. She told me to go ahead and try to get more rest because she had to get some things together and we would leave for the hospital. She woke me up at 5am telling me she was ready to go. I was like WTF? Knowing we had a 1hr drive to the hospital. Just thought I'd share my wonderful experience of 16 yrs ago. :) Hope his kid comes out well. |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Stallworth is 6'0 220
Yea but to me he's more of a stretch receiver, not someone who is gonna move the chains for short yardage and run crossing routes. |
Stallworth is 6'0 220
I mean he's not afraid to hit someone crossing... |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
I'm just waiting for a signing that makes sense. So far the only solid move in my opinion was trading mcnabb for two sixth rounders.
ALL the wr moves are highly questionable. We've signed a ton of receivers but none of them constitute a clear upgrade over what we had last year. We traded one cheap and solid dlineman for a mediocre receiver because he allegedly didn't fit in our system.... Yet we sign a dlineman who doesn't fit our system to a huge contract. We signed a crappy third string qb when we already have one of those as out incumbent starter. None (edit: one) of our draft picks are signed and now you guys are applauding the signing of a 38 year old kicker? Am I the only one shaking my head here?
I'm so glad your not a glass half empty type of person. |

Right, just saying he's not small. |

I thought I heard Jones agreed to terms with Houston. Or was that another Jones?
|
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Per Mike Florio, Perry Riley is penciled in as starter at ILB.

That was Jacoby Jones.. Sounds like Cullen Jenkins will be signed today.. Junkies and PFW reporting a deal is close. Our defense has the potential to be sick! |

Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Warren Sapp said something pretty interesting on Twitter. He certainly seemed to imply that Cullen Jenkins was the best NOSE TACKLE available on the market. It's possible he meant Kris Jenkins, but it would be fascinating and interesting if Barry Cofield moved to end and Cullen Jenkins came in over the center in our scheme.
That might be the kind of ingenuity required to make this defensive front work. It also has no chance of happening here. |

Glad to hear that, Riley looked good with limited opportunities last season.. And now we won't have to worry about him getting penalized w/ holding calls during kickoff/punt returns :cool-smil |

Anybody besides me think Selvish Capers will be getting a lot of work at RT this pre-season?
