Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
Jeeze, just listening to BMitch rant about how bad Shanny has handled this situation. I like BMitch, but dude, it's not like the coaches are trying to blame Fat Al for the "team" failures this season, they're just dealing with a malcontented moron and "his" failure to do WHAT HE WAS PAID TO DO!!
They could have dealt with this malcontent weeks ago, basically they waited until this blew up to deal with it.
I hope Fletch circles the D together and uses this as motivation for this weekend. It's damned Bucs week (can't do the **** expletive-laden version after the beat down we took last week; that would suggest a level of excitement about our prospects that seems wildly unrealistic).
I think the reasons for motivation are gone from this team. And if they do get motivated, then great, way to do it when it doesn't matter anymore. |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
I usually agree with BMitch, but he is way off on this one.
If AH did the things Shanny said he did, he deserves everything he got. Most people would agree that the skins needed a culture change after spurrier, gibbs 2, and zorn. This is part of the culture change...I love it. |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
I love that Shanny is laying the smack down. Culture needed to be changed....
Honestly this could give the team a spark. Fat Al obviously didn't care about the team.
I think that for Shanny its easier to start tough and maybe ease up than start easy and get tough later. |

I'm not defending the timing of this, simply disagreeing with BMitch's viewpoint that Shanny was trying to lay blame on AH for the entire team's failure this season. Most EVERYONE on this team can shoulder at least some blame. But, considering what Shanny and Co. inherited, what the hell did we all expect, a run to the Super Bowl? Many of us knew this would take more than one season, probably 2-3, to get the ship righted. We have still yet given this thing time to unfold. AH is just one of the problems and now he has finally been eradicated. |

Gotcha, yeah that's a stupid generalization of BMitch. |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
So does AH become the biggest Redskins bust of all time? I kinda think so but wanted to get other opinions.
|
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
This all just clouds the fact that the Skins have had a top 10 defense the past few years
(the one bright spot), and now they are dead last. If we were winning and AH was missing games / practice and slack'in then who cares.....but the fact is there are other players on this team who have not risen up to the challenge and prepared themselves for these last two division games. DON'T LET A.H. OR WAPO/MEDIA DISTRACT YOU FROM THE REAL TEAM. The rest of them need show up and get a win against Tampa! No low drat pick losing, learn how to win for now, next year, and so on. |
Too bad the culture change doesn't include winning.
Its a huge rebuilding year, even if they won't publicly say so. I'm actually impressed that this roster is 5-7 at this point. If Shanny sticks around for a few years the Skins will win games. |

Without a doubt, no question about it? |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
What an epic final act Vinny played out as GM.
He left us with so many massive leaks in the hull it's hard to believe. I for one am very pleased that they didn't just release that piece of shit Haynesworth. You can't let that baby get away with that. Make him suffer. |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
Shanahan got what he wanted.....now he can get back to winning?
Will public enemy #1 Haynesworth go or the 3-4? Hhhmmmm? One has to go! |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
Keep that fat ass on the team all next year too and deactivate him for every game. F*ck him, he represents everything that is wrong with sports. Make him sit on the sideline all next year in street clothes too then cut him. Might as well get some fun out of it, because we sure as hell arent going to get any dedication.
|
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
The only thing that gets through to this guy is the almighty dollar.
I'd keep him for the life of the contract, and keep him suspended without pay until he turns the attitude around and accepts what the coaching staff wants from him. Don't cut him loose and give him a shot at a big free agent payday. Keep him, and make him toe the line to earn the money his massive contract calls for. He'll come around when he realizes he wants some form of income. |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
Albert Haynesworth " You can't force a round peg into a square circle."

I wish people felt the same way about every sorry player we have on this team. |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
From Adam S. website:
$ for nothing RT @BobGlauber: If this is it for Haynesworth, he'll have played 20 games, made 12 starts, 6.5 sacks. And $34.75 million. What a waste of money on that piece of shit!! |

Hopefully, culture change is a foundation on which winning can be built. |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
Haha. This team is a joke!
|
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
Well, at least he won't be a distraction for the rest of the season, and at this point even I would be willing to take w/'e we could get for him. If nobody gives up anything for him and he just gets cut, I'll just hope he becomes a dominant player again for his next team so we can get a draft pick for him.

i dont think you get a draft pick for a player if you cut them, they have to be a free agent and sign elsewhere. |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
So does anyone still side with AH?
|
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
Pockets Straight may have weeped today. I know he is/was a big AH supporter.
I mean, I can understand the suspension, the guy has been a plague all season, but there's no denying when he was healthy, had his head in the game and was actually utilized, he was a force. Unfortunately, times like that were few and far between. Better luck somewhere else, big guy. |

Ah, you might be right on that because I'm definitely not certain. In that case, look on the bright side, he won't be ****ing up our team chemistry any more, and hopefully all the guys we'll have in here next season will be team guys. |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
Man. What an interesting turn of events.
He wasn't happy last year in the "type" of 4-3 the skins ran and he sure wasn't happy with this faux 3-4 they run now. There is such a gap of difference between him and other professionals. I understand not being happy in the system, but he was everything to be "his" way. Just look at his comments on the radio show: "I want to show how I can play. They paid me this money, let me play like I played in Tennessee. I will show you. I made a lot of plays in Tennessee; I can do the same thing here. All you got to do is take off the dadgum leash and let me loose and you will see how great I am." I understand a player wants a defense to play to his strength, but it seems Haynesworth wants 10 other guys to do what they are suppose to while he can do whatever he wants. I'm sure other defensive players would like to be doing something else (like Andre Carter), but you haven't heard anything from them. Fletcher would never say I expect to blitz on 75% of all downs because that's what I like to do. Haynesworth just isn't a team guy. |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
So does anyone still side with AH?
Depends. I'm not exactly sure where AH's side is right now.
As far as the Redskins mismanagement since the beginning of the season, this move merely beats the horse that died in August. Maybe it was the only move to shut him down for the year. You're 5-7. It's not a very strong statement. |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
Sad that it came to this, but easily predictable
|

If you cut someone, no compensation. |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
I tend to drink a lot of KoolAid, so I know many will say I am being a ridiculous homer, but I understand and support the way this was handled.
You have a rare talent, a guy who could be elite, but who, as Terl showed in his blog I quoted, also a guy who has given half a** attempts, and belittled nearly every coach and scheme he has had. I have no doubt that Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan would NOT have brought AH in. They didn't bring in Peppers, they didn't bring in VJax or TO or other possible headaches. So let's be clear on some facts: 1) AH was the past FO's hire, Not BA/MS 2) During MS' year off, he decided he was going to implement the 3-4 D wherever he goes, because it is in his eyes the better D. 3) AH has a level of talent, that when applied could be elite 4) AH never has had a full season where he applied himself game in and game out. 5) AH got a lot of money 6) MS told AH upfront that if he took the bonus, this is what was expected. 7) AH took the money 8) MS is the Head Coach 9) AH is not. I think those are the underlying facts, now, how you want to handle that situation, maybe it goes differently, but I doubt it. I think MS had to be tough and not give in, for the sake of the Team. I think giving away a talent like AH is a very difficult move, and the cost benefit analysis probably reflects the tough decision. For the right value I think you trade him, but for the wrong value, ie too little, why give another team his service this year? Sure you won't get much or anything now, but a 4th isn't a comparable trade value. So you really are stuck trying to make it work out in a situation where no one has a good reason to give ground. For culture purposes, this should put to rest any notion that the Skins are a come and not give effort type club. That's a good thing. I don't really care about the money - its not mine. I had hoped that AH would show up - he didn't. A 4-3 may have gotten us how many more wins? not enough to justify AH's behavior. If a defensive change was to be made - this was the year to do it. In the end, I just want the Redskins to make sane hiring decisions, the lunacy just needed to end. |

I think the locker room perspective is probably one the fans rarely get to see...we sit here as does the media and speculate. I think Daniels kinda let us in. If Shanny does suspends without the Daniels rant, we sit here and say the "ego of this coaching staff" or "he cant handle the locker room"....but with Daniels coming out saying enough is enough and he is speaking for everybody, that holds alot of weight with me. I just dont think Albert defendable at this point |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
So does anyone still side with AH?
Not me, I was against the signing at the time and wanted Chris Canty instead, I also mentioned what great FA signings and draft picks the Giants organization had made at that time, only to be ridiculed by people in this forum saying to go root for the Giants. By the way, I'm not pointing this towards you. |
Re: Big Al suspended for the remainder of season
Finally they axed this turd.
Hall-a-freaking-loo-ya! AFAIC he's polluted the team and is partially responsible for the lousy season we are having. GTF outa DC fat boy! |

I don't think not having Haynesworth cost us any games nor did he win any games for us but this move signals a shift in what's happened over the past 12 years at Redskins Park. |

Hard to say. We got a little more production from him than we did from, say, Archuleta. Not much, but a little. But we paid a lot more, of course. |

RT @Robertissogreat: during offseason, trade Vince Young & 1st rd pick to skins for mcnabb & haynesworth. EVERYBODY'S HAPPY! ... Not Tenn. |
