Last episode EVER tonight and no talk. The turn the show has taken is kind of sad IMO. |
Re: The Official Lost: The Final Season Thread (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
I loved it. Again, the series was not written as some big puzzle like so many want it to be.
It's a story of life, the struggle to be good, the struggle to resist evil, and when the time comes, the struggle that is death, to move on and let go. I was thrilled. |
Re: The Official Lost: The Final Season Thread (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
Yeah...best show on TV just ended.Sad robot.

For those confused, looking to make some sense of it, or just to gain some perspective on why this ending was to be appreciated, here's a blogger whose opinion I identify with pretty well.

Re: The Official Lost: The Final Season Thread (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
I thought the ending was great. Answered a lot of questions, and left many unanswered. Just as I expected. The only thing I didn't like was that they killed "Locke" off with over an hour left in the show. That seemed too soon for me.

Re: The Official Lost: The Final Season Thread (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
so "lost" was a type waiting room between physical death and the journey to the afterlife which can only be achieved when one "lets go"?
lame. I was hoping they wouldnt do a cop out of all "their out of left field, crazy, makes no sense" happeninngs by ending it with the justification that it was "all fake", "it was all imagination". they might as well just had all the people wake up on the plane, safe and happy and ended it by saying they all had a "shared interacting dream" or something lame. im glad i didnt follow it after season 1, seems like when i missed an epidose of season 2, nothing made sense as they would constantly change the rules or premise. it was just to hard to follow if you arent a hardcore, "set my evening schedule around whats on tv" type. sad, i was hoping lost would be that show for me but it was just too much. |

Thanks for putting into words. It just felt like they dragged it out for the $$$$. And for the record at the end of season one I was like this purgatory, which shockingly it basically was. If you want to save yourself six seasons worth of watching this crap go rent the Lovely Bones, same idea and you will be done with it in 2 hours. Heroes try to do the same thing with no rules and a confusing plot line shockingly that show is sinking as fast as a lead zeppelin. |

You aren't wrong at all. But then again why did people watch it and then get mad about it, or are on message boards discussing it, if they weren't fans in the first place? I don't care whether people liked it or not. It doesn't change my opinion but it sorta irks me that people who didn't watch the show much and didn't much care about it watched the finale and then pan it. Or didn't watch it and pan the mere ideas in it. It gives the false impression that it was generally disliked when in fact every single person who actually followed the show, that I have talked to our read postings from, loved it. |

I have watched it, religious the whole first season and most of the second and my wife has watched it all. She came to bed last night after it was over and said basically it was purgatory. Don't get your panties in bunch because you wasted six seasons of your life watching some poorly written piece of crap. Honestly when you have to run a sports ticker on the bottom to tell folks what the heck is going on, the writing might be a bit off. During Star Wars all through the series did George Lucas ever have to use a ticker to explain the story...no becasue it was written/told well. The ticker may have looked like this: "Luke is kissing Leia, hahaha they don't know it yet but they are brother and sister." I am not trying to pick a fight with you but you know somewhere in season 4 in your heart of hearts you were like this show sucks but I will stick with it just to found out what happens and you are bitter at the folks like OTM and myself who said F it I won't waste my time watching all this crap just to find out it is purgatory on 5/23/2010. |

I think the "hate" that I have for the show is that, when it first came out, it was a really appealing interesting show. something that, like an epic, would have a beginning, plot, then end. kinda like a movie broken into parts and shown on tv. not like almost every new show like friends where each episode starts from scratch and it could go on forever. but after making it a point and priority to watch every episode of season one, then trying to commit myself for season 2, i lost interest when i came to the opinion the lost producers were just going to string this thing out as long as they profitably could, making long winded side roads dealing with peripheal characters that had nothing to do with season 1, the main characters or the fundamental plot line. every good story needs a conflict then resolution. here, the conflict was always changing. the parameters the viewer was introduced to was constantly changed by the writers/producers. at a point during season 2, i felt my viewership was being abused. that the quality of the show was going to take a back seat to how many seasons and episodes the network could cram outta this thing. the show initially presented itself as a mystery, home viewer play along and see if you can pick up the clues and figure this out. now, the people who stuck thru the whole 6 seasons say you cant look at every clue, dont take everything so serious and staightforward, be willing to overlook inconsistencies, its about the journey not the destination. thats not how the show was advertised to me. i mean, didnt they show 1 hour recap shows before a new episode so we could all get caught up on their clues? wasnt the buzz and focus after season 1 almost entirely about figuring out lost? are they in purgatory? are they sleeping? coma? that historical footnote about an island that is a magnetic enigma which was discovered by a guy with a name which is referenced to in lost? now, its not figuring out what the island is but the journey to the question? lame. hollywood watered down and tugged at all directions something which was once novel and unique. our opinion that they dragged it out the a$$ is valid. it may be limited but its valid. |

My project manager who followed the series for 6 season is sitting next to me. All I heard all morning is him bitching about how screwed up the last episode was. |
Re: The Official Lost: The Final Season Thread (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
The island wasn't purgatory, and it seems to me the bitter ones are the ones who want to give a hard time to those who stuck through the series to the end and appreciated the entire series, including the finale.

Re: The Official Lost: The Final Season Thread (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
I will agree though that there were some parts throughout the series that maybe weren't necessary, but in the end I think it made sense. And again, like I said earlier, some questions were left unanswered, which I actually kind of preferred.
I think a lot of people who are upset are bothered that it wasn't as science-fictiony as they would have liked. I think some people are bothered that ultimately it was, well, a love story. |
Re: The Official Lost: The Final Season Thread (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
If anyone here has read the Dark Tower series by Stephen King, that series under lying tone was it is about the detestation not the ending, which seems to be the same song Lost is singing and I can get that.

While I did like the finale and I am willing to accept the idea that the journey is key I completely understand why so many people feel cheated by this season and the ending. I don't know, I'm still trying to figure out how I really feel about the ending, but I guess in a way that's better than completely forgetting about the show now that it's over. |

I'm confused about a lot of things or not remembering things correctly.I thought it was Charlie that "woke up" Desmond yet in the final episode Charlie needed "woke up" to remember Claire. And why did Faradays mother tell Desmond he shouldnt have done it and would he be taking her son.A lot of little things like that didnt make sense to me.I'm still not sure what happened, was everybody dead and they were moving on to heaven? What are your interpretations of it?

Re: The Official Lost: The Final Season Thread (Warning: Possible Spoilers)
I'm confused about a lot of things or not remembering things correctly.I thought it was Charlie that "woke up" Desmond yet in the final episode Charlie needed "woke up" to remember Claire. And why did Faradays mother tell Desmond he shouldnt have done it and would he be taking her son.A lot of little things like that didnt make sense to me.I'm still not sure what happened, was everybody dead and they were moving on to heaven? What are your interpretations of it?
Charlie caught a brief glimpse of the island when he was choking on the plane but I don't think he felt/realized the full effect, much like the small flashes Jack kept having. Likewise, when Charlie made the car crash he jolt Desmond but didn't completely "wake him up;" that happened when Desmond finally meet Penny.
As for the final church scene, yes all those people were dead (IMO) but the important thing to remember is what Jack's dad said to him. He said that all these people had died at different times, some before Jack (ie Locke, Boone, Charile, Sayid, etc) and some after him (Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, etc) but that time didn't matter in that place. To me that makes sense because imagine a situation where you die decades before your soulmate does. What kind of place would that church (heaven's waiting room for lack of a better term) be if you had to wait around for years and years before the most important person in your life eventually died and made it to you? THAT would be a real hell. For Faraday's mom, I think she was aware that there was a place after the Sideways purgatory/whatever but, like Ben, she wasn't quiet ready to go there yet and but she also didn't want to lose her son. That is why I think she didn't want Desmond hanging around. I believe she was afraid Desmond would take Daniel and she'd have no one. |
