Re: Glory days
I remember the Super Bowl in 92 (91 season). My Dad had been yelling all through the playoffs as i tried to comfort him by the fact that the Redskins in my mock card game were winning. The next day in school (I was in the first grade) our teacher had us draw a picture of the Super Bowl. I of course drew Mark Rypien throwing a pass to Art Monk. I guess I'm making up for the dark ages of the 90's now because when I moved to Chicago in 93 I became more into Baseball and Basketball (rooting of course for the Orioles and Bullets). It wasn't until I started playing football in Georgia around 1999 that I took an interest in the Redskins again.

Love the memories!
I think the thing that frustrates me the most about right now is the Skins' management does not seem to care about the fans. They seem tone deaf and ignorant to what is going on. One thing JKC always did was value the fans and let them know it. |
That may have been the best coaching that I've ever seen. The Skins scabs even beat Dallas despite the presence of several Cowboys regulars who crossed the picket line. Now that's coaching.
Yes, with Ed Rubbert and Tony Robinson at QB. We all remember them as household names don't we? |
Smack, you have me summoning the depths of my memory. Much of the early and mid 40's I always relied on my Father, and my Uncle to tell me about because I didn't go to my first Redskin game until the 49-50 season. When we played that championship game against the Bears I was only four yrs. old.
My Father would always tell me about Ray Flaherty, and how great the Redskins were in the years immediately following the start of the war. Ray Flaherty then, was our Joe Gibbs now. That's really good stuff though, and makes me think a long way back.
Check this out Hall of Fame Redskins: Ray Flaherty |
