Re: Washington Wizards 2009-2010 Ongoing Thread
Man this whole season has been entirely forgettable. It makes it seem like a decade ago that we had Antawn, Gil, and Caron making timely shots late in games and going to the playoffs on a regular basis. And it's hard to watch this team while they're in the midst of a 15 (is it 16?) game losing streak. It was easier when that was a lower number but after so many "Oh it looks like we might pull this one out, oh wait it's another patented 4th quarter meltdown again" it gets rough to watch. It's annoying getting your hopes up every game they have a lead or play well only to watch it fall apart at the end. Sigh.
I'll be happy when the offseason comes and I can actually look forward to hearing what changes will be made and I can return to being optimistic about the upcoming season. Gil coming back? Playoffs! Sign big name free agent or trade for 2 decent players with our trade exceptions? Deep playoff run! haha probably not but at least I can hold out hope that things will get better from here. EDIT: Oh yeah and I wanted to ask, does anybody that have Dish Network know if they carry CSN Alternate on there? I wanted to watch the Wiz-Rockets game tonight while watching the Caps-Sens game but ever since we switched to DishN from Directv last week I can't find the CSNA channel. |

we did get spoiled with that playoff run regularly
basketball is extremely delicate |

After the trades, they were suddenly playing incredibly well. I did not realize they are now on a 16-game LOSING streak now. What a swing.

At least it is a streak. You really gotta be something to go on a run like that.

If we "lose-out" we will have set the record for most consecutive wins in a season. Ugh.

you mean consecutive losses right? |

Lol, people actually care about the Wizards right now? Only thing I care about is making sure that the sale to Mr. Leonis goes through. The thing is the NBA is such a horrible league in terms of parity. I mean you look at the Jazz with Deron Williams and see how despite putting together a solid team they will most likely never win a championship. At the same time maybe Carmelo will actually take home an NBA title.

Not sure what you call a delusional freudian slip. Moot point now with our big win against New Orleans, I guess. |

Mannn, it's all about luck. OKC gets Kevin Durant with the #2 pick and they have their franchise player for MANY years to come. The draft we get the #1 pick just happens to be one of the worst drafts in the last 20 years, and we end up with bum ass Kwame Brown. I KNEW he was going to be garbage, I NEVER liked him. Even when I watched all of his highlights leading to the draft, he looked JUST ok. And again, watch the dam Clippers get the #1 pick again. |
Re: Washington Wizards 2009-2010 Ongoing Thread
Stephen Curry, Ricky Rubio, and Brandon Jennings. All available when we picked and we freaking trade for Mike Miller and Randy Foye. Hopefully Leonis can fix the Wizards but it'll obviously be much harder. For starters he won't have an Ovechkin to build around, however by all accounts the Caps would be similar to the Thrashers with Ilya Kolvachuck if they didn't surround him with talent so it's not like he didn't build a team. Then we have to deal with Agent 0's contract. It's also likely that we're not going to win the lottery to get John Wall or Tyreke Evans so that will be another blow, however hopefully they can lay down a plan similar to what they did with the Caps and build that way.
I'm personally fine with the way the Redskins are "rebuilding" but for the Wizards I would rather see them do it the hard way unless they can somehow do it in a manner similar to the Celtics and that isn't happening. |

The season started off great, then quickly turned sour. I blame Arenas for the team falling apart.

Re: Washington Wizards 2009-2010 Ongoing Thread
Snatching victory from the jaws of a much needed defeat. Our chances for a top 4 pick have slipped dramatically b/c some dude named Cedric Jackson decided to play for a future contract. How's this for a tankworthy lineup at the end of the game?
Cedric Jackson Cartier Martin Quinton Ross James Singleton JaVale McGee Flip was doing the right thing by sitting Blatche (who was on fire). And any player named after an upscale French watchmaker should have ensured our loss. |
