Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
It is early in the season and I think that our defense can hold their offense to under 20 points. Their backfield isn't like the Giants where you basically have a lineman in the backfield plowing his way into our defensive secondary. I like our chances, but we really need this game to protect our homefield advantage. That being said, we will be getting harder challenges from teams like the steelers and the browns where we may lose those games and it will be imperative to stay afloat in the NFC playoff chase.

Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
I didn't predict last week but I voted for the Giants.
It's the home opener.. If Zorn/JC don't want bad press and the boo-birds all over their ass.. Its a must win. Skins - 17 Saints - 16 |

BUT, I think if the offense looks good and scores 2-3 TDs and we lose a close game to a high octane offense, the press won't be awful. I think progress is what's most important. If we come out and look as uncomfortable and lost as we did last Thursday, then every bit of bad press will be deserved. |
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
defense will be better (healthier springs taylor and landry) - the saints are down colston, and duece and stecker missed last game too... so if our offense can show some signs of life, it's perfectly winnable. our D tends to gameplan well for this kind of team too.
i homer'd my pick, but i can see us losing to offensive ineptitude just as easily. |
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
I think we lose, but we'll play much better. The Saints don't have a scary pass rush like the Giants, so I think JC will find a rhythm and Portis will gain some yards on the ground.
But in the end Drew Brees methodically gets to us. Even without Colston, the Saints have a lot of weapons to cover. I think we'll take care of the deep threat OK, and neutralize Patten and D Henderson. But Shockey and Bush will get us with underneath stuff and Brees will make just enough plays. |

This was more what I was trying to get at. Pretty much, we need a win to save face.. But I agree with what you said. If we look good, naysayers will either jump on the bandwagon and say, "I knew it all along" or will be nowhere to be seen. But if we lose, pointed fingers will be abound. |
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
Saints by at least two touchdowns. If we can't keep our D off the field for more than a couple of three and outs, it's going to get really ugly.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
The way the O looked last week, I'll be happy with 2 touchdowns, and a FG. I think our D can contain thier offense, and Reggie Bush isn't going to have the game he had last week with the receiving numbers, our LB's are too good for that.
With that said, I'm going to go with 14-10 skins win with a TD in the 4th QTR. A LL interception kills all hopes of a game winning drive by NO. |
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
Skins 35
Saints 17 |
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
31-13 Who-dats.. I hate to say it, but last week I KNEW we were beating the Giants so maybe a little reverse psychology will work it out.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
35-17 saints.
too much firepower for this one guys. the saints will get too campbell all day and he won't be able too get in a rythmn (spelling?). if they could do it too garcia they can do it too campbell. betts and portis worry me though. |
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
This week we will see what our team is all about, as we shut down the aints.
We will WIN this home opener in a convincing manner! No need in putting up a number it doesn't matter, we shall prevail! 1-1 Sunday afternoon approx. 4:10pm...... |

Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
Lots of folks here have the Skins winning on Sunday but only scoring "in the teens". The Saints' defense isn't very good; in fact, it may be really well below average.
So, win or lose, if the Skins can only generate 17 points against that defense it is a BAD sign for the rest of the year. Two keys to this game: 1. Is there pressure on Brees that comes from the DTs without any inside blitzing? If so, the defense can assert itself on the Saints offense; if not, the Saints will move the chains a lot. 2. Can the WRs get any "run-after-catch" without having an open field ahead of them to begin with? If they can't do this against a mediocre defense, there could be big problems down the road... This is a winnable game. More than that, it is a game the Skins really need to win for a whole bunch of reasons. Watch the way the team reacts to the first bit of adversity in the game. The team reaction and the way the coaches deal with the adversity will tell you a lot about how this team will fare for the rest of the year... Redskins 30 Saints 24 |
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
All I have to say is Go Skins...
Despite a rocky start, I'm hopeful that we can run the Saints out of town! Let's Go Skins!!! |

Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
I would just take a Redskins win....just win baby
GO SKINS! |
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
Portis has a nice 1st half and we get a few sacks, but JC struggles and the defense gets lit up by Brees. Saints 27, Redskins 14.

You guys don’t have half the pass rush that is present in our NFC East opponents. You got 2 sacks last week against TB, Wahoo, try that shit up here! 3. In all reality you only got one turnover at the end of the game which made up for the one that you guys lost. 4. Your D still allowed 351 yards of offense. What should scare you most about that stat is that 145 of those yards were on the ground as a result of only 19 carries (7.6YPC). Hell, Earnest Graham averaged 9 YPC. So don’t come up in here talking about how Jason Campbell is going to be on the ground all day, or how your corners are going to stick to our receivers, because you don't know. In light of everything I just said I still pick NO to win. This bodes well for us since we don't have all cylinders firing yet. Even if our offense doesn't play their best, they should still be able to put up points. Earnest Graham, Warrick Dunn and Jeff Garcia ran for 146 yards! Garcia also threw for 221 wit a TD. Garcia was even playing through an injury and is benched for Week 2! :D |

You guys had a home opener against a division opponent and your "new and improved non-medicore" defense got lit up by a very average offense. Your LB's looked flat and this supposedly improved front 4 allowed over 7 yards per run against Tampa- they don't have an OL or RBs as strong as ours. Plus you're coming to our house. I know you want to stand up for your team, and that's cool. But face it, the New Orleans Saints are NOT a physical football team, and have a rather soft defense until you prove otherwise. Not trying to hate, just stating facts. |
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
I think that we should win by about 3 points. The offense improves this week and the defense continues on its track of dominance. Besides NO running game isn't like the Giants they are really more of a pass first type of team. We should be able to generate pressure on Brees and force some turnovers.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
This would be a good week to get our passing attack going. Saints passing D is weak. A good game from our line in pass blocking would be a big plus. Let's do it.

Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
Redskins 360
Saints 3 |
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
The Saints D isn't great, but their front four is pretty impressive. Granted, they sacked Garcia just twice, but they were up in his junk all afternoon.

Their pass rush looked pretty good, but at the expense of stopping the run. They got gashed on the ground (146 yards- at home). And it looks like a rookie corner (Tracy Porter) will be covering Santana. I don't know if we'll win, but I think the offense can make some nice progress. |
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
Sorry guys, I thought the Gmen would win by 13 last week and was close. NO will win this game by the same type of margin I predicted last week against the Gmen. Saints win 27-14. The Saints do indeed look better on D, and even without Colston, have a lot of talent to work with. Unless our O can get out of its funk, I just don't see a W on Sunday. Our D will keep this a respectable game though.

I can't see our Defense coming in as flat, or the Saints offense as hyped, as last week against the Giants. Your 13, as close as it was, could have easily been way off if the Giants didn't storm out the gate. This week I hope the Skins are the ones that come out fired up in the home opener. The Saints are 1 higher in the ESPN Power Rankings then the Giants, so it would be some redemption to beat them. Maybe quiet down some of the naysayers as well. |

Depends on our O line I guess. Has to give JC adequate protection against the NO front line. I can see JC fumbling some balls if he gets sacked like 4-5 times. |

I am curious do you think the Saints have a better pass rush than the Giants? I think if we see anything this week it will be what JZ's learning curve will be as a play caller and game planner. Those seem to be his biggest stumbling blocks. |
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
This question is basically do you vote with your heart or your head. Almost everyone who logs into "The Warpath" 1) likes the Skins, and 2) wants this to win everyweek, however I think too we have to be objective when evaluating what team is bringing to the table.

Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
if zorn has better play calling, and the o line gives clinton a hole to run through, anything is possible.
Skins win 17-14 |
Re: Redskins vs. Saints predictions
The Skins will win this game!
27-24. Big game from the offense. |
