Re: Osi Done For The Year
Wait a minute, Kiwanuka still plays for the Giants.
You guys are talking about Kawika Mitchell. He's a linebacker. |
Re: Osi Done For The Year
I don't really understand why you guys let Kiwanuka get away. He had a very solid year for you, and the Bills didn't give him a ridiculous contract. You should have resigned him.
That was Kiwaku (sp?) Mitchell. I used to get them confused all the time, as well. I was talking about Mathias Kiwanuka. He was drafted last year (or the year before) as a DE. Last season, they moved him to OLB.
the Giants are slowly but surely loosing their swagger for this upcoming season...first Strahan and Shockey now Osi...who's next Pierce? They realy are becoming a boring team.
First Strahan retired,Shockey was traded and they did ok with out him(won a super bowl) and a few others last year ,the'll move on.How's Jason Taylor? |

Jason Taylor has a sprained knee. He will only be out 10-14 days. |
Re: Osi Done For The Year
Bad deal for the Giants. We're lucky that Jason Taylor isn't in the same situation. As much as I dislike the rest of the NFC east I wish him a full recovery.

i think all he was trying to say is that each team has a few sparkplug type players and it seems as if the giants are losing those type players, whether it be to retirement, trade or injury. thats 3 players that first come to mind when one thinks of the giants, plaxico and eli would be two more who come to mind. taylor will miss 10-14 days with a sprained knee. |
Re: Osi Done For The Year
I am sorry that Osi's season is done, but it will be nice not to have to face him this year.

Re: Osi Done For The Year
Like it or not, luck is a huge part of being successful in the NFL. The Patriots were virtually injury-free in thier regular season run last year. Let's not for a second feel sorry for the NYG's and thier HUGE loss.
I agree with you, I honestly think the Patriots have made a deal with the devil....or they are just the luckiest people in the world. I'm surprised none of their starters got injured during meaningless plays (i.e. after they blew up the Redskins, or when they played their last meaningless games in the seson when they were seeking the undefeated season). Plus, I thinkt he Giants got a bit of luck last year, when they got hot at the right time. Tough deal for Osi, big blow for the G-Men's D. I must say that given how our o-line played yesterday, I was dreading us playing against the G-Men's d-line. I'm sure they will still harrass our o-line, but with Osi out it just won't be the same. I'll be curious to know what NY is going to to do. |
Re: Osi Done For The Year
too bad for osi and shawn.
for osi good break though for the NFC east team I hope that shawn just play their first game vs the carolina assoholes |

I meant Kawika Mitchell, not Kiwanuka. typo. |
Who else, besides me, thinks this guy is juicing?
There is a rumor here in SD that Merrimen wants a new contract this year. No new contract, He will get the surgery and miss the whole year. And yes, I think he is juiced. |
Re: Osi Done For The Year
I dont see Strahan coming back though and if he decides to, more power to him. He's out of shape at this point I would say, at least out of playing shape. They're hoping that Wynn will step up.
Remember, the guy always tries to stay away from training camp. He could get in shape quick, has done it before + he's not that bad out of shape. |
Re: Osi Done For The Year
Wait a minute, Kiwanuka still plays for the Giants.
You guys are talking about Kawika Mitchell. He's a linebacker.
Mathias Kiwanuka is actually a LB now too. He's been playing OLB for a couple of reasons- they were deep at DE (not anymore), and he was a little on the small side. Unless Strahan comes back in midseason form asap, I think it's a forgone conclusion Kiwanuka moves back to DE. Which leaves holes a LB. They should never had let Kawika Mitchell get away. |
Re: Osi Done For The Year
I wonder why no one even jokingly accuses the patriots' defense from juicing. i mean we have guys who can't fart without getting hurt (cough*jensen*cough!), meanwhile their LBs are like 150 years old combined, and they never get hurt.
|
Re: Osi Done For The Year
I love football, but hate the injuries. Even when they happen to someone from another team. Now Renaldo Wynn will get his chance to prove the Redskins wrong for cutting him.

will G-men will ask strahan to come out of retirement?

I bet this is going to become a Favre-like story....on a much much smaller scale though. |
Re: Osi Done For The Year
Time to go find a bridge from which to jump. This eats $h!t. I remember one year, I think 1999, Sehorn got hurt in the pre-season game against the Jets and was out for the year and was never the same after that. Blew out his knee on the opening kick-off when Fassell thought it would be a good idea for him to return kicks.
|
Re: Osi Done For The Year
Never "happy" to see a division rival's player get hurt but I won't miss him this year for sure. The karma connection between Taylor being fine and Osi being caput is interesting.

I was thinking the same thing, and today there's word that he may be open to coming back, for a price of course. A cool $8M. It seems to me that the Giants should have no worries about plugging in a backup to start, and then just picking someone up off the street to replace the backup. |
Re: Osi Done For The Year
All this really means is... Jansen and Samuels are going to get beat for sacks by some no-name, rather than Osi or Strahan.
For real tho, how does Samuels keep going to the pro-bowl when he constantly gets manhandled by the speed rush? |

Against Carolina was one of the rare times where he got romped but he consistently shuts down both speed rushers and bull rushes. |

Anytime there is a speed rusher C. Samuels has a problem. ie Peppers, Simeon Rice |

Strahan has made no inclination that he'd even be interested in coming back. He went as far as to reiterate "I'm really done." when all the Favre stuff was going on. He'd have nothing to come back for, they won the SB, he's already a Hall of Famer.. I can't see it. |

This is just another passive aggressive attempt to cover your man-crush on Jason Taylor and other elderly Skins linemen who haven't gotten the job done. <sigh> Will you never learn. Skins Front Office = Bad. Every other Front Office (except Cincinatti) = Good. Seriously though, Smoot's right. Osi's injury just goes to show that teams simply can't plan for every contingency and get starter depth at every position. It's a trade off. I am betting our RB and CB depth are the envy of more than a few teams. This sucks for the Giants. They may have the depth to cover but losing Osi and Strahan is simply something you can't plan for. Sorta like us losing our starting right tackle and starting guard <cough, cough>. |

Well, according to a source close to him he would consider it for the right price. Of course he's staying quiet on it right now, but you would have to believe he would at least entertain an offer. |
Re: Osi Done For The Year
Good news for the Skins tackles, by the way I thought I remember hearing that the Giants were interested in acquiring Taylor before the skins got him and that was one of the reasons everything moved so fast. It makes me glad that our serious injuries happened early rather than later.

Re: Osi Done For The Year
Do you really want him back? And what do you have after you pay the 8+ Mill. According to ESPN, he has not been working out..................so he's out of shape, and certainly NOT in football shape.
How long does it take get in shape and contribute? .....Last year, he blew off most of camp, and was fine. BUT, he was working out on his own. This year he has apparently NOT been working out on his own. |

Yeah, I think she made out pretty well. But still, he retired anyway, and I'm sure that Fox is not going to pay him minimum wage for the deal it made with him. Granted, it's not the $8 million that they Giants are allegedly offering (for one season), but he's not so hurting that he can't just get up and go to Greece for a vacation (which is what he is doing right now, right?). |

Re: Osi Done For The Year
If the coin is right...what a f*cking joke.
If we ever have a life-long player who dicks around our team as much as Strahan has dicked his team around the last few years and then when we need him the most his reply is "show me the money" I hope to god Joe Gibbs drives up from NC and puts a bullet in that guy's head. How about some respect, honr and loyalty to the organization that you played for your entire career. The org that made you a name. I know money is the name of the game in today's game but I do get the distinct feeling that most players do enjoy the game and have enough respect for the game that they wouldn't attempt to extort their own team. |
