Thank you. When isnt there controversy in Detroit though? When hasnt there been a QB controversy. My guess would be since Barry Sanders left, when he was carrying the offense.

it makes sense, millen is a bit crazy and loves hyped up offensive players. The thing is this time he might get it right (6th time's the charm). Of course, they're still going to need an O Line.

if you don't do anything else, at least check this link. Replace the 24 with the number of your team's original pick, and you'll see a list of mocks and which player and position they had your team take combined on a single page. It doesn't work if you trade your pick, since both your needs and your draft slot change. It can still give you a good idea of your needs though:

http://www.fanmonster.com/public/muncher/SuperMuncher/byPos.asp?pos=24&site=211

24 is bengals, replace with 20 for chiefs, 32 for steelers etc.

Re: Mock Draft Commentary

After trading down 3 spots, the Raiders watched helplessly as all three guys they wanted flew off the board. Forced to delve deeper into the player pool, Ernie Sims seems like a great fit. He's fast, and a great athlete, although a bit of a project. Michael Huff and Brodrick Bunkley recieved serious consideration, but neither brings the Raider Mystique like Sims will. All in all, Al Davis should be satisfied. And if he isn't, you won't be hearing from me in round two...or ever again.

Re: Mock Draft Commentary

As the Eagles, I took Chad Jackson as they look to fill TO's shoes with a playmaker which they sorely need right now. They also desperately need linebackers, and if Ernie Sims was also available I would have considered him too. Though traditionally, LB is not a position the Eagles pour a lot of resources into. They typically seem content to try to pair a strong secondary with a deep defensive line, and then just get average LBs with some speed. They have shown a tendency to draft WRs in the first round in the recent past (Freddie Mitchell, and then Reggie Brown just last year). They did sign Jabar Gaffney to pair with Reggie Brown and Todd Pinkston, but at this point I think Andy Reid knows that a playmaker would make a big difference for the Eagles.

Winston Justice would also be an attractive option for the Eagles if he falls to them. Runyan and Tra Thomas are both cemented at the T spots for now, but in the past the Eagles have not been afraid to spend early picks on depth, allowing the young guys to grow into their roles (Lito Shepperd and Sheldon Brown were both drafted while Bobby Taylor and Troy Vincent were still starters).

Re: Mock Draft Commentary

I was torn when I saw that the Eagles had taken Chad Jackson, I really feel that Denver will still get him, but if they dont I think that they will go after DeAngelo Williams. Everyone knows that Shanahan likes his RB's, and with the departure of M. Anderson and the slow development of T. Bell I think that Shanahan will take Williams. I seriously considered S. Holmes from OSU, but I think that he may slide down and if not I think that Denver can get a decent WR in the 2nd round. Also, from what I have researched about Williams, he sounds like a back in which the system will amplify his talents, much like that of Clinton Portis...

8588, TAF Clayjaworhogtensen here with WPSN (Warpath Sports Network). Considering the success Shanahan has had with running backs in the later rounds why did you guys decide to draft a back so high in the draft this time?

...I'm going to need some more "reporters" for the all-new WPSN's mock draft coverage. BrudLee, I'm looking your way

Re: Mock Draft Commentary

The Miami Dolphins will be thanking there lucky stars if M. Huff does fall to them at the #16 spot. Huff is a guy who can wear 2 hats, safety or corner. With Saban being a defensive minded coach where the secondary is said to be his specialty I am sure he can take what is already to be considered an elite saftey and turn him into a pro-bowl saftey in a couple of years...

You are right about the late round RB's being gems for the Broncos, but if you look at those late gems they were merely products of the system. Shanahan will now have a bonifide top choice back which combined with the system will take much stress off of Plummer and the passing game. Williams is not just a good runner he pretty much can do it all an effective blocker, runs well up the middle, can runaway from people and does a very nice job of receiving out of the backfield. We greatly understand the need to improve our WR group but we feel that we can satisfy that need later on in the draft. A RB the caliber of Williams comes along once in a while and when he is there you have to grab him...

Schneed, TAF here with WPSN. Got a question about your Eagles. "Some of your players have expressed concerns about current conditions. To address this...will you be changing all the parking spots at the Linc to handicapped spaces?"

Re: Mock Draft Commentary

hey guys, so far so good ;) no wtf moves yet.

miami got the best projected value thus far taking a top 10 player (huff) at 16 while also filling a primary need, and the raiders had the biggest stretch taking ernie sims at 10, but its not an unreasonable move by any means :).

lets see how the rest of the draft develops. Big decision for MINN now, time to see if the unteted schaub is their answer.

Hi TAF, thanks for having me on. We don't plan on changing any of our parking spaces, however our medical staff is beefing up for the coming season. We've installed a Tram to pick players up from the parking lot and bring them into our practice/medical facility. We've hired more trainers and another team doctor. We anticipate our training room will be very busy after weeks 10 and 14 this coming season. To that end, we've added another procedure room to our medical facility, one dedicated entirely to treating impact injuries specific to Wide Receivers coming across the middle of the field. We're also trying to beef up our WR corps in order to withstand this punishment we expect to take during weeks 10 and 14 this year. We expect Chad Jackson to be battered, we expect Reggie Brown to be bruised, and this year we expect Todd Pinkston to actually break in half in the midst of a Safety Sandwich. We know the middle of the field is going to be a dangerous place for us this year during weeks 10 and 14, but we're doing everything we can to prepare.

Re: Mock Draft Commentary

Hahahaha. Safety sandwich a la "Not Another Teen Movie"? I remember when I saw that scene, that's the FIRST thing I thought of. I was like, "Yup, Todd Pinkston".

And for anybody who actually doubted McNabb being a good QB, he's made Todd FREAKIN' Pinkston look good at times.

Re: Mock Draft Commentary

I selected Sinorice Moss for the Vikings to begin to shore up a weakening WR corps. With the loss of Burleson, the Vikings needed some more young talent and Moss fits the bill perfectly.

The Vikings would be starting to have something similar to what Washington has going on for them.

Now just for someone to throw him the ball after Johnson leaves.

Just ask.

This question is for dmek25 regarding his selection of Winston Justice at the 13th pick for the Ravens.

Given the recent history of the franchise (with mulitple felony convictions), is there any room for Justice in the Baltimore locker room?

Re: Mock Draft Commentary

The Dallas Cowboys are absolutely ecstatic to see cornerback Tye Hill from Clemson fall into their laps at 18 overall. Hill is only 5-10, but his biggest asset is blazing speed, which is exactly what Dallas needs to match up with the Skins at WR.

Aaron Glenn remains on the roster but is showing his age. At the very least, Hill provides a solid nickel CB for this season, and should pair with Terence Newman for several years as the anchors in the Dallas secondary.

The KC Chiefs are happy to bring Mathias into to the organization. Coach Edwards feels that with his size and pass rush ability, Kiwanuka will help to bring pressure on opposing QB's that is essential to the cover 2 defense

Re: Mock Draft Commentary

With the exodus in NE they are left with few areas of obvious strength. Clealy Belichek can work wonders on defense and they still have a few play makers there so they decided to give their O some help. At 21 a pick on the OL is too early so we are left with skill players. The two most impactful players were Holmes and White. WRs are a dime a dozen in the 1st, and a big fgamble at that, so I decided to take White since Dillon is aging and White seems to have the potential to be a pro-bowler. He is big strong and has that ever sought after nose for the endzone. He takes some pressure off of Brady trying to pass to nobody. We'll get a WR later in the draft.

Does anyone know how often PWNED comes on? His pick is rapidly approaching, and I'm down to two teams and would be happy to take the Buccaneers. But if he checks often during the day, theres no reason to assume he won't make his pick by the end of the day.

Me, not so much. They need a RB bad, and the top end talent was still around. They need a CB bad too, and the top end talent was gone. The guy I was surprised they passed on was Kamerion Wimbley, the DE/LB tweener from Florida State.

Re: Mock Draft Commentary
I am shocked with the patriots pick.
They need players at just about every position except QB and DL. They need WRs, OL, LBs and Secodary. But at that point in the draft there were several super quality players left. They have gone DL on three of their last 5 1st rounders and TE on the others. All the while their secondary has been super suspect and their LBs were too last year. I figured Belichek thinks he can win with lesser talent on defense so I went offense. That left a couple options. Holmes was the obvious one to me at first. I mean they need WRs like air at this point but then I started thinking about what we all say about 1st round WRs. They end up busts mostly. Belichek is a smart guy and a guy who also thinks he's smart. I think he'd avoid a WR in the 1st just based on the principle that they are busts. That left White since he was probably the most significant player left. Dillion is older and sucked last year. White scores TDs like a machine. They can grab a WR later.

This is all based on what I think THEY would do. Personally I would draft for the Secondary needs or Holmes. Holmes is probably the best all around WR in the draft. It was hard for me to pass on him from MY perspective but I am not picking from my perspective.

I considered Wimbley but the Pats have shown a willingness to go with big names that have slipped for whatever reason. Wilfork comes to mind most recently. He was a top 10 guy until like April 10th and then just starting falling. They took him in the mid 20s and everyone slapped their head like "oh crap! how did we let him slid that far?" White seems like the same kind of situation. Couple of months ago he was a top 7 pick. Now he acts like a putz and drops a few spots. He justs fits in NE to me. Wimbley seemed like a safe no frills pick and that doesn't seem their style.
