Re: Redskins Interested in TO
God, I sure hope that this isn't true....we don't need any bad apples in the mix, this team is just starting to "get it" and what it takes to be champions.

i think t.o. would put us as favorites next year, and i also think it would be a better fit in dc. because we have the players who would speak up and get in his face if he acts up, which he will. just think.....who could stop us?????????/

We don't have the cap room. At least not yet. If the CBA is not extended by March 3 (or if a continuance is not enacted by March 3), then we will actually have to shed players rather than acquiring big names. If the CBA gets extended or there is a continuance, then I can see us having the cap room to do it.
I was wondering if anyone knows what neighborhood the cap will be in if a new deal is struck giving the players a greater piece of the pie. If it happens, isn't the cap likely to increase enough to cover our existing obligations and sign new players such as Keyshawn Johnson? |

let him go to dallas. no way keyshawn stays. they release keyshawn and there is our possession receiver for next year

To be honest, if we can retain our team, I already think we could be the favorites, at least highly considered. I'm not going to judge this TO thing until somthing more concrete comes out. |

When things are going well he is, but why did the Bucs boot him from the team much the same way that the Eagles booted TO? My most recent memory of Key is him berating the Cowboys kicker for missing a field goal against the Redskins at FedEx. A kick which would not have been necessary had Keyshawn caught the previous pass on 3rd down. And he's not young. He's older than Moulds, who's older than Owens, who's older than Jurevicius (I still can't believe that. I thought JJ was pushing 40) |

Keyshawn is exactly what we need need on the field. All this stuff about character is misinterpreted. Gibbs doesn't want a bunch of Bible thumpers. His definition of character has to do with performance on the field. According to the standards applied by some here, ST would be out the door. Age may well be an issue but it hasn't stopped Gibbs in the past. |

You won't hear me say they shouldn't sign T.O. Especially if the cap goes up. I believe T.O.'s discontent in Philly was all about the money. They are a cheapskate, second rate, fly by night outfit. To Terell Owens I say this: You've tried the Motel 6 and the Best Western, move on over to the Waldorf. Become a Redskin and let your freak flag fly. |
Re: Redskins Interested in TO
No way I think that the Eagles trade TO to a team in the division, not alone the Redskins who are swinging things in their favor to contend for the division. On the other hand, if they want to get something in return they may. Its, do they want to have something in return for TO, when if they just release him, we may go after him and get him anyway. Plus with Denver and KC possible interested, they may take what ever they give them just to keep him away from the Skins and the Cowboys. It will be interesting to see what happens, because they have to let him go before March 5th, I think to avoid that large roster bonus.

That is what is or was wrong w/ this team in the past. People came here just for the money. We need to get the attitude away from this franchise. Which I think Joe is doing. |

comcast said that the redskins have no intrest, that it may just be rosenhaus trying to make teams think that they need to bid higher for t.o.

exactly wat i was thinking who would be the #1 receiver omg i can already see it "disgruntled T.O sounds off for not being #1 guy" i can already see the headlines
Man i hope we really dont get him becuase there will be a conflict between him and santana down the road of who would be no.1 i can see it now and that would cause t.o to go off the handle again. I say we get a quality WR in the draft someone that is consistant and has good hands as Cooleys does.
|
Re: Redskins Interested in TO
If Santana was a team player (which I think he is) he wouldn't care. Essentially, Moss would be in single coverage the majority of the time. You can't tell me that a team would leave T.O. in single coverage, he would break the single game receiving mark. In Saunders version of Air Coryell, there will be plenty of balls to go around.
T.O. would be great for so many reasons. How would you game plan for the Redskins offense? With T.O. you get the entire package. He is the prototypical possesion receiver except if he breaks a tackle he is gone. He is too big, strong and fast for any corner in the league. He takes 5 yard catches and turns them into 70 yard T.D.s and the most important part, he is in the prime of his career. Also, he is an insurance policy. What if either him or Santana gets an injury late in the year? They still have a number one to go to. If they signed him they would go from turnaround story to the favorite to win the Super Bowl and the best part is they would be taking the most talented player from the Eagles and preventing him from going to Dallas at the same time. I think it is a risk worth taking. |
Re: Redskins Interested in TO
I wouldn't mind seeing the Redskins getting TO if he can make a positive impact. I don't think the skins are seriously in the mix. We have often been used by agents to get more money and more compensation out of other teams.
|
Re: Redskins Interested in TO
i hope we do not bring t.o. in. He is the ultimate team cancer, it's only a time before he starts destroying all the chemistry and sanity in the locker room. In the event the skins actually do get him, i will not like him anymore, even if he is wearing the skins uniform. i would hope it's only for a one year contract, anything longer than that spells trouble.

Re: Redskins Interested in TO
This goes against every thing Gibbs is doing here. Gibbs is not just about winning now, he may want to win now but he is building for the future. The team that picks up TO is clearly only worried about the here and now. He will give you maybe one good season(if he can stay healthy) and then he will start his crybaby bullshit tactics until he totally distroys the clubhouse.he is a ME first player in a TEAM sport. This will not happen under Joe Gibbs!

Re: Redskins Interested in TO
I guess the question that you have to ask yourself is whether the current team has enough talent to win the Super Bowl. I loved this year's team. They played like 53 brothers and after beating the crap out of the Seahawks (who I think will win on Sunday) they showed that they were the toughest team in the playoffs.
However, I think that even the most die hard fans would have to admit that the balls bounced their way several times this year. I do not think that the current team has enough talent to win it all (and don't tell me that Randle-El is the key to a title). Now if you add T.O. to the equation and they look like a champion... |

Re: Redskins Interested in TO
My take is NO to T.O. Id make a sign but nobody would see it. Hes nothing but trouble. Thats the last thing this team needs a spoiled b*tch ass like T.O. When we got that guy who wore #21 a few years ago (I hope we finished paying off his contract) and now wears #37 in Baltimore I never liked him as a Redskin. I never cheered for him, and yes that includes when he would return a pick or punt for a TD, which I think he only did once or twice. Anyways all Im saying, if T.O. comes here I will not cheer for him. I will not buy his jersey. He is definitely not a Gibbs guy so Im really not that worried about T.O. landing in DC. Id say he'll end up i neither Denver or Miami.

T.O. will clash with Santana, Santana is our # 1 reciever and wants to stay that way. We need a real good #3 reciever, one that is good enough to step up to # 2 when necessary. If we would have had that type of #3 reciever to step in for David Patten, we would be playing the Steelers this week. We have greater needs on this team than another #1 reciever. How about a pass rusher, depth in the secondary and offensive line. |

Re: Redskins Interested in TO
Terrell Owens in a Redskin uniform is something that could work if Owens has been sobered by the appropriate discipline the Eagles meted out.
The Redskins have developed a very strong authority structure based in the coaching staff. Owens requires that to be successful. He didn't have it in SF where Mariucci was basically on his own. The Eagles were strong enough to bite the bullet and sideline him, and that is something they are to be commended for. But they weren't strong enough to find a way to direct him to being a cooperative person. The Redskins may be his only chance to be successful. Joe Gibbs has such a strong and caring, yet firm presence and the staff has such quality player management people, that if Owens can't make it in Washington, he might as well retire. Owens needs an entirely new kind of situation to reorient himself. And with the addition of Saunders, Gibbs will have more energy to put into player management himself. I don't really think that Parcells can take him on - he already has his hands full with Keyshawn Johnson, and Parcells doesn't have the support Gibbs does with the staff, (because Parcells prefers to dominate things and doesn't want to share influence with others so much.) Shanahan might be able to manage him ok, but he might not be able to, and in any case, I think it would take up too much of his energy to be worth it to them. I don't think that Herman Edwards wants to kick off his new career in KC with a difficult player like Owens, and their offense is already in good shape anyway. By the way if the Cowboys pick up a player that would worry me it would be Brett Favre. Favre won't play for Green Bay anymore, and I think Jones will pursue Favre to the utmost when it becomes clear to the Packers they have to trade him or watch him retire. |
