Assuming Peyton is 100%, you dont even see them taking someone late like Tannehill or Foles? |
Re: how to get a QB if youre pulling the trigger
No need to get you panties in a bunch to try and move up from #6.
Most if not all of the teams picking ahead of us are already heavily committed (big bucks) to young QB's. So what is our desperation to give away draft picks when we sit at #6? Look at who is picking ahead of us: 1) Colts - already have Peyton Manning and have a so many needs. They take Luck. 2) Rams - Already have Bradford 3) Vikings - heavily invested in Ponder 4) Browns - already have McCoy 5) Tampa Bay - Already have Josh Freemen 6) Skinnies I say stay where we are and let see what happens.
If you already have someone like Bradford etc you can let anyone trade into that spot.. I wouldn't call ponder a heavy investment though he was first round.. you think the browns are so set on McCoy that they wouldn't take rg3? Lol! |

I think there is no way in hell, by fair means or foul, by soft words and hard deeds... by treachery, by cunning, by malpractice... they do not take multiple plunges unto the QB pool in FA and the draft this year. |

You won't know if Peyton is healthy until way after the draft. You can't hope and pray he lasts another 4 years. Them neglecting to draft his heir is what put them drafting at the #1 spot this year. Only way the Colts don't draft Luck is if somehow their draft phone disconnects when they try to relay their pick to the commissioner. I still laugh at the pitiful Skins fans still deluding themselves that somehow we draft up and select Luck. Why even set yourself up for disappointment like that? |

You never know what may happen unless you're some kinda psychic, which you're not. We'll just have to wait until April 26. But I still think Luck will be number 1 though :) |

Re: how to get a QB if youre pulling the trigger
I would do what ever it takes to get RG3. If it takes moving up to the number 2 pick giving up the 6th pick, next years 1st and this years 3rd so be it. You have to make the move, you have to solidify the position. Id sign Vince Young in the offseason. I know most of you won't like this move. But hey its what I would do.

Re: how to get a QB if youre pulling the trigger
Right now I'm strongly considering the following.
1. Sign Flynn in the offseason. This does depend on how much competition is out there for Flynn. He's still very unproven, but he has upside and is relatively young. If we can get him for a reasonable contract, do it. 2. Draft Blackmon or Kalil with #6. If both of those players are gone, try to trade down and go best available offensive player. If no trading players, cry quietly and draft another DE that we'll move to OLB. 3. Take Foles or Tannehill in the 2nd (or trade up if necessary) to develop. I would love to get RG3, but not sure if he's worth the price he'll cost to trade up. What I'd be willing to give up is not something STL would accept. |

An absolute star and I hope we're not watching what will be one of the most exciting players in the league on a different team. And why on earth would we draft Kalil, BPA or not... We aren't any more than a 10 sack a season less football team. We have STUD left tackle, baring marijuana cravings. Drafting a LT to play RT is one of my pet peeves, only dumb teams like Dallas do crazy things like this. |
Re: how to get a QB if youre pulling the trigger
He's not going anywhere most likely, but he will be a free agent...so the first thing I would do is my due diligence by at least finding out what it would cost to pry Brees from the Saints

More than we can afford. |
Re: how to get a QB if youre pulling the trigger
Thats too much for RB3. I would like to get him in here. We would probably only need to give up 2012 1st, 2012 3rd, and 2013 1st to move into the 3rd spot just ahead of Cleveland, maybe a 2013 3rd too. We dont need to move to number 2 with the news that Jeff Fisher will coach the Rams. It was said that he wanted to coach a team with a qb in place so there is no way they go qb at number 2.
I agree and I would not be opposed to something like this. Given that the difference between #3 and #6 is 600 points on the (sometimes disregarded) trade value chart, we might even get away with giving up our 1st and 3rd in 2012 and our #2 in 2013. Jumping up to #3 to get RGIII is not a bad or overly expensive idea, all things considered. We need a star QB! |

A little old, a lot expensive. |

Without a doubt. The worst that happens is you find out "no" and move on...which is by far the likeliest scenario. But nothing ventured, nothing gained. |
Re: how to get a QB if youre pulling the trigger
It doesn't sound like the Browns are necessarily sold on Colt McCoy, and I think they could very well pick RG III if he's still on the board at #4.
The Browns may pursue Matt Flynn he is a free agent and Holmgrem could then use their pick to trade back with us or to any other team ( Dolphins, SeaHawks) who may want RGIII. |
