I felt if TW went anywhere, we would get the most production out of him, seeing how Shanahan turned Clady into an All-Pro. Very possible. He could be a beast in this scheme. |
Re: Shanahan: Williams is a natural for zone-blocking scheme
You know what's a weird strategy, identifying a need on your team and drafting to fill that need. It is really an alien concept around here.

It's effective to a point. For example the way we did it tonight was a more then acceptable way to fill a need through the draft. The way the Jags did it....not so much. |
Re: Shanahan: Williams is a natural for zone-blocking scheme
Congratulations to Allen & Shanahan for having just finished making their 1st (and so far) only draft pick for the Washington Redskins. If the coaching staff is happy with the selection then who am I to disagree? I'm glad he's a player they feel fits their scheme and hope he can be as successful as the man he's replacing.
If they like him, I love him....right position, right player!! |
Re: Shanahan: Williams is a natural for zone-blocking scheme
He also has his High School and College Teammates to get him focused. I grew up near Longveiw and like any small town in Texas their is a real since of family and Im glad he has 3 teammates from their so his transition goes smooth.
Texans make the best football players. |
Re: Shanahan: Williams is a natural for zone-blocking scheme
Whether it's the tackle people want or not it's refreshing to see that we're picking guys that aren't just very good at their position, but fit in with what we need, something we haven't seen for awhile.
Don't underestimate the value of Samuels as a mentor for Williams.
Is he really going to be around that much? I'm more worried about Forestor not succeeding as our line coach and then having us going out and getting Tom Cable as our O-Line coach. God knows he isn't going to survive after this season. The Rolando McClain pick is the first sign that a competent person is running the Raiders. |

Back from when the draft was "normal-time"

[YT]7CpFBYR7yAU[/YT]
Ha ha, ummm yeah I totally got that right. But if you makes feel, uh, better, then, uh. Thanks. I didn't realize until afterwards. Ironically though Clady looked HORRIBLE in that highlight film and now he's among the leagues elite tackles. Williams seems like a much more promising prospect. Alright hopefully I get this one right. It really is amazing though how well he moves: [YT]A0hFdSy4cY4[/YT] |

Dez Bryant is basically a locker room time bomb. Now personally I consider Ray Lewis a bomb disposal expert so if Baltimore had selected him then that would have been a great pick, but put him in a Dallas locker room that just got over not having T.O. there and you hopefully have a locker room implosion. Of course if he develops it'll be dangerous for us, but I'm hoping for another Charles Rogers. |

I like it how very few people are mentioning that basically Jones has given up on Roy Williams and we can call that trade a colossal failure. |
