Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
Football Outsiders:
"Gaither has been a starter for the past two seasons and in that time his metrics have been nothing short of superb. He has allowed only seven total sacks in 27 games and only one of these was a one-on-one sack (defined as when a defender beats a blocker in a one-on-one environment and tackles the quarterback in the pocket within three seconds of the snap). That illustrates Gaither's dominant pass blocking skills, but his run blocking numbers are also quite notable. Gaither was at the Point of Attack (POA) on 300 running plays the past two years and he won his block 255 times, or 85 percent of the time. That is a solid number on its own, but his 2009 POA win rate of 89.0 percent is even more noteworthy. To put that total into perspective, consider that in a typical NFL season, a little less than one out of ten offensive linemen will crack the 90 percent POA win mark. Gaither was on the precipice of that mark last year despite battling injuries."
|

I caught in the middle thinking something to the effect of "why are they using this ghetto camera style and why is Rich standing while Merriman sits?" I didn't realize till the end. |

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
So Jimmy Clausen visiting this weekend and then Colt McCoy on Tuesday
So here are the QBs we've reportedly shown interest in: Sam Bradford: Doubt he'll fall to 4, but would love it Jimmy Clausen: He'll be there at 4, some days I think he's great other days I see the worst of Jason Campbell in him Colt McCoy: I like his moxie, chutzpah, spunk what have you but I'm not totally convinced he's significantly better than Brennan. Think he's the odds on fave at the moment though Tim Tebow: A mystery wrapped in a riddle John Skelton: Skelton!!!!!! Lack of accuracy and questionable leadership. Love the arm, but don't want him here Zac Robinson: Underrated college QB, not sure he has what it takes to be a full-time starter in the NFL though Jonathan Crompton: Anyone have any thoughts on him? Tim Hiller/Max Hall: Possible UDFA pickups, particularly Hall. |

I know he had a terrible year but this is a chance for us to get a guy a lot of "draft gurus" were tabbing to go in the top 5 next year, in a late round (possible with our 4th rounder), and have him regain his confidence under Shanahan. |
