Re: Give Colt Brennan a shot with the 1st team offense in 2010
Collins is out. If we are talking about true competition at every position, may the best player win, there are PLENTY of players on the market, and hey, in the draft for that matter, who could do what Collins is capable of doing BETTER than Collins, with a much larger upside. Collins is gone. Why would Shanahan retain the leftover scraps of an aging backup quarterback from the Zorn and Gibbs 2 era. He'll bring in his own guys.
Hopefully. |

Re: Give Colt Brennan a shot with the 1st team offense in 2010
Everybody knows how I feel about the Colt. He will be a part of the QB competition, and no one should work harder than him because this may be his last opportunity to make a positive impression. I could be dreaming about Colt, but it's awfully difficult for me to believe a QB that set twenty-one Collegiate records does not have something to offer. I don't care what kingd of offense he played in, his credentials are impressive.

This pretty much sums up how I feel. Great Post!!! |

I agree. I think it's kind of silly to just write him off. Give him a shot with the first team in preseason. JC's not going to take all the snaps anyway. He made some mistakes last preseason but I don't think that's any reason to just dump him. Anyone who thinks Bradford or Clausen isn't going to make some mistakes is fooling themselves. I'd like to see what he can do and fully trust Shanny's decision on him. |
Re: Give Colt Brennan a shot with the 1st team offense in 2010
If Collins didnt play those 5 games after JC hurt his knee, would the consensus be that Todd is better then Colt? I guess its easy to say Todd is better then Colt because of the success he had during his 5 starts with us, but Colt still hasnt had a chance to prove himself. So yeah Todd is better, but only because we seen something from him, not because Colt had a real chance and blew it
If Chase Daniel would have been 6'3" in height Brennan would have been let go. Chase showed more poise behind center during last preseason. I was dumbfounded when Brennan was the one kept on. At least Chase got a SB ring though. Not sure Brennan is going to get one anytime soon. |

Dude he played in a douche conference. Who would you rather have as a starting QB, a guy who faced big time competition just about every week or some guy racking up stats against teams that are barely Div IA? How come he would have gone undrafted if we didn't pick him up? You know why? After all the hype about him and Hawaii going undefeated into the BCS Sugar Bowl, he got his ass kicked by Georgia. I give the guy props for his records, but his situation was like if the Gators played NAIA opponents all year |
Re: Give Colt Brennan a shot with the 1st team offense in 2010
each had a decent game and an ehh game if I recall correctly
not saying Brennan was the correct choice, but there were reasons to stick with him |

they practically do and tebow was enough to make them your example scary eh? |
Re: Give Colt Brennan a shot with the 1st team offense in 2010
Shanahan has equally low loyalty to everyone right now. So I think Colt unquestionably will get a fair shot in camp. He may parlay that into starting time in the preseason or regular season. If he's the best QB on the field, Shanahan will play him.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Basically, Colt has as good a shot at commanding the offense as anyone. ...IMO this is a BIG reason to get excited about Skins football this year. I'm not saying it's about Colt. It's about the new regime and a new mentality. I think it will be good for JC and everyone else btw. Some will not find success under the new management, but I truly believe everyone who does find success will play their best football. |

And if Grandma had balls, she'd be Grandpa. Why would you be dumbfounded that Chase was let go? He looks like a jockey, not a quarterback. When he is actually playing in a game on Sunday, I will criticize the F.O. for letting him go. I find it comical that all these people seem to think that the Redskins made some tragic error by letting Daniel go. He couldn't beat out a guy with a torn hamstring. |

The game against Georgia prepared him for the shitty lines that we have had. |

All we're talking about here is that he will be given the opportunity to compete with front line payers in the preseason to see if he can make a positive impression. Regardless of your impression of the guy, you haven't seen anymore of him than the rest of us, and what I've seen thus far is not enough to form an unbiased opinion as to what he's going to eventually be. I want to see more of Colt Brennan in a truly competitive environment with the opportunity to sink or swim. |
