Re: Sen. Max Baucus appears drunk on Senate floor
This actually happened on christmas night after evryone had gone home and someone forgot to turn off the lights and camera. He had drank a fith earlier in the day and passed out in his office and woke up latter that night. Still smashed and forgetting that Pribe Care passed he got mad and wanted to speak his mind so he took the floor. As you can see the room is empty but he is still talking as if the room was full and he even point over to where he thinks the rep. are still sitting. This went on for several hours until a janitor turned off the lights and drove him home.
I think we need Term Limits. Could you imagine how awesome it would be to see over half of the Senate and the House shown the door in the next two elections.
Term limits could be dangerous. The only motivation would be their next job, lobbying. Their attitude would be, "who cares what the people think I won't be here anyway". Also, my next question is how would you determine rank? |

Liberal Mainstream Media , the mother of all conspiracy theories. You mean to tell me the milllions of people who work in the media are all aligned to a single point of view and scheme to deny any other voices?

~~~~~~ I do think we need term limits and I say this with a family member in Congress. Some of these guys get so entrenched in the bubble that is DC they forget what is really go on beyond Capitol Hill. |
Huh??
My point was that since we allow congress to keep running for life, why not let the president do the same. The argument against having a president run for life is because he would lose touch with the people of the country. Do you think that congress is in touch with the country first, or the lobbyist? |
I doubt anyone would get that attitude of I won't be here when they are serving a 6 year term in the Senate. Maybe for the state representatives only having a two year term, this could be the case. Honestly, if you cannot get things done in two years, you will be voted out anyway. I think being in office for more than 12 years could leave one out of touch with there district, or state. Think back 12 years ago, a lot has changed. As for determining rank, go by seniority first if possible, then go by birthday or something unbiased. |
