Re: 2009 Free Agents Spreadsheet
The only rating I would question is Tank Johnson as an 86. I believe that his infamy and being a cowboy can be attributed to him being overrated.

Re: 2009 Free Agents Spreadsheet
nice job. thanks for putting that together. if you have the time, it would be awesome if there was a column stating the players current status (ufa, rfa, franchised, etc)
also, please tell me these ratings dont come from madden 09 ;-) |

Re: 2009 Free Agents Spreadsheet
Im just wondering, how accurate would you say your ratings are? How well do you really know these players?
I cant flat out say that these ratings are off because I havent seen all these guys play consistently...Im just saying Im skeptical about multiple ratings like OJ Atogwe who is rated as a below average player, but on paper over the last 3 years he has 16 picks (5.4 per year) 11 forced fumbles (3.7 per year) and 235 tackles (78 tackles per year). I know everyone has different ratings on players but it kinda seems like alot of numbers were just thrown out there without much basis behind it... Lol, I feel like a dick for saying this because I use tools like this alot and do appreciate you doing this.
My ratings are more accurate than most sources, and less accurate than the best league sources (of which I do not have access to ;) ) So yeah, feel free to disagree with whatever ones you feel like you have some inside info on. All of my ratings are based on information that is at least somewhat public [or that I have made public], (like O.J. Atogwe not being able to cover or tackle all that well, and much of his value coming off a return TD fumble by our Guard). |

:laughing2 Good stuff. |
Re: 2009 Free Agents Spreadsheet
FYI,
Defensivie tackles Ryan Sims and Dwan Edwards were resigned by Tampa and Baltimore. Edwards could have been a no risk signing for the Redskins. He was hurt in 2008 but did well in 2007 as a replacement for the the Ravens. |

Re: 2009 Free Agents Spreadsheet
Leonard Weaver is 88? That can't be right.
Leonard Weaver is 88? That can't be right.
In the context of position, I would say it's fair. He clearly brings an element to the offense that most FBs don't.
Sellers on the same scale would be a 90 or a 91, so it's pretty moot from our perspective, especially so since he signed with Philly a day after I sent these in. |
Re: 2009 Free Agents Spreadsheet
Great Job. However I would say that Tory Holt is still the best WR available...he can still play. Where did you get the rankings from?
Great Job. However I would say that Tory Holt is still the best WR available...he can still play. Where did you get the rankings from?
The rankings themselves are mathematically based at positions like QB, RB, WR, CB, S, and DL...but I did create the 79 scale myself, so I guess they become my own ratings.
Positions like FB, OL, LB where the ratings can't be based much on data are a best guess by me to place them on the 79 scale based on how they've been used, and thusly, obviously subject to human error and bias. |
Re: 2009 Free Agents Spreadsheet
Weaver signed with the Eagles by the way, so you gotta update this bad boy again

That aught to tell you something about him. I've seen the guy play plenty, he's so-so at best and if you look at the game logs they tell you just as much. He's a slightly better catcher than Rod Gardner, his blocking leaves much to be desired much of the time, and his running is inconsistent. At 87 you're too kind to Mr. Weaver. |
