I thought they went to the highest contract that would create the most room to get you under the cap and then began to void those deals. In which case a team would lose a few players and then become under the cap.
Wasn't there a Doomsday thread back before the last NFL Collective Bargaining agreement. We talked Lavar into giving back some money to become a free agent and this helped us prevent this scenario. I don't even know what to search for to find that thing. |

At the rate the salary cap is growing. Probably last year. The year before that it was 40 million :D |

before the cba they talked about taking all your draft picks from you. it hasn't really been tested though.

The 49ers also got hit with loss of draft picks ( a 3rd and 5th) plus 1 mill in fines for breaking cap rules but it wasn't for the march 2 deadline. If I remember right it had something to deferred payment plans that didn't follow the rules. The NFL is supposed to approve all contracts so I don't know how exactly they slipped one though.
