One part of me says: "Same old Same old"

Another part of me says: "Wait, Oakland (Rookie and a never-has been), Cleveland (rookie and TWO never has beens), Houston (THREE never has beens but one with some potential), Denver (Their second year is "Elway-Like"?? c'mon) - what BS groupthink is this?

Another part of me says: Eh, they may be right, we haven't shown much consistency at ANYTHING over the last fifteen years.

Another part of me says: JC's got all the skills they talk about other young QB's having and is gonna tear apart the league. MB is more than adequate back up. Who cares what these idiots write. Do I give a flaming f*** what they think??

The voices inside my head cause me to twitch - I should go get my sniper rifle and see who keeps telling them to argue like this.

I don't get the Cutler stuff. Campbell and Cutler's stats are identical from last year.

I am really surprised at the degree Campbell is flying under the radar this year, outside of Washington. With a few exceptions (John Clayton, Mort, Jim Mora) people are viewing him as a de facto inheriter of the position who is more back up material, rather than the guy who was chosen and groomed by Gibbs to be the man going into the future. That idiot Colin Cowheard was trashing the Skins on his crap show and argued, who ya gonna get to play quarterback? Jason Campbell? Come on! I'll take Eli Manning and the Giants any day (he then went on to praise the Giants offensive line situation, which grants some perspective).

Last time I checked Campbell was a first round pick with a championship pedigree who played solidly in his first couple NFL starts right? Am I missing something? When did he become a mo?

The fact's are we have a young unproven starter, and absolutly nothing behind him, Brunell and Collins are both a joke and have been since their arrival. Then we may have 2 possible backup's who have never taken a snap in the NFL. Once you come to the realization that Brunell is and has been finished since his arrival, and Collins is nothing more than an individual who understands Saunders offense but can't run it, there you have it, we have all our eggs in 1 basket, and that basket is a young inexperienced QB, after that we have nothing!
Cincinnati is #4 on this list.

Their backup is Doug Johnson.

Doug Johnson.

Makes Todd Collins look like Brett Favre.

I dont know how much I agree with the Iggles at number 5, I think they said it best themselves with the opening sentence
"but now 31, he has lost significant playing time due to injuries over the past several seasons and durability is a big question."
The fact that the in his last three games before he sat out for the last 6 was averaging right around a 48% completion percantage and threw for a total of 2 touchdowns and a pick seems like a pretty darn good indicator that mcnabb is on the decline. Dont get me wrong, he's still a great athlete but to put the iggles at 5 with Mcnabb on the decline, Feely and Holcolmb, who are capable backups, but arent anything to wrtie home about both with a 1-1 TD-INT ratio an extremely average rating. Id put both San Diego and St. Louis in front of them. Both IMO have more capable backups with st. louis in Frerotte and San Diego with Volek.

Brunell is a horrible quarterback and if Campbell goes down the season is over except for the suffering.

Nah, Brunell is a guy who can manage games and not make the big mistake, which may not win you the superbowl, but is all you can really ask for from a backup.

For as much as I hate to admit it, I think you're right.
However, we do have the potential to prove a ton of people wrong. I hope we do.
I do scratch my head at the raiders though. That's not right.

Well, I think you can ask more of your backup. The point of a backup is to be the guy in waiting to take over then show your stuff. Brunell won't show us anything, and he has already proven he can't win anything significant. Sure if has to play 4 games, he will likely win 2 of them, but our hopes lie with Campbell...quite frankly he didn't overly impress me last year...but I think he has good potential. Hopefully he did a lot of studying this offseason.

But they have Carson Palmer...Carson Palmer!

I can't understand how a young, athletic QB with a cannon where an arm should be, can be so lowly rated. For his first half year starting he was really good, IMO. His decision making will get alot better this year (always does with new QB's).

The only thing i can say is that when he leads us to the playoffs this year, it is going to be even sweeter for us when these hacks are made to eat their words!

Yeah but we have...Casey Bramlet. World Bowl MVP. Watch. He'll be our #3 this year and he'll have to come in and he'll become the new Frank Reich.

Re: New level of disrespect

I didn't see anybody repost the whole article, so here is the write up. I copied and pasted it from insider:

30. Washington Redskins
With a full offseason as the starter, young Jason Campbell is expected to show vast improvement in 2007 and take over this team. He has excellent overall skills, a strong arm and a potentially outstanding deep ball, but he makes bad decisions at times and throws into coverage. The hope is that another year in the offensive system will help his recognition. The coaches will also utilize a run-oriented offense to take the pressure off. Veteran Mark Brunell restructured his contract to stay as Campbell's mentor and backup. Even though his skills and arm strength are diminishing, he still knows this offense and his leadership and poise could be invaluable if Campbell falters and he was forced to play. The No. 3 QB will be Todd Collins. He has a great grasp of this offense and he's probably better than a lot of No. 2 QBs in this league.

Whatever. Until we actually win something, this is the way things go.

I prefer being underrated to over-hyped. It will make winning all the more sweet.

(For what it's worth, the write-up doesn't sound bad at all, except that it's number 30. Whatever.)
