Re: David Macklin our new CB
WRONG! Players are not ALWAYS willing to restructure. That makes NO SENSE.
A simple restructure means the player gets their money up front rather than later on. Why would a player not be willing to do this in your opinion? |

In this case there has been to much talk about SS not even being here next year to begin with. No one shoe fits all, not ALWAYS is a player willing to restructure. What would be the be motivation for him to restructure to help the team? |

Money in his pocket.
That would depend on the terms of the restructure.......correct? |

That would depend on the terms of the restructure.......correct?
Generally, restructure means more money up front. Thers's other ways to restructure, usually involving an extention of some sort, but when the term restructure is thrown out with no qualifier, it's almost certainly referring to a base salary being converted into a signing bonus. |
Re: David Macklin our new CB
Not so sure SS is willing to restructure.
I'm willing to restructure, just don't feel I need to take a pay cut. Matty knows my stance on this. I'm sure a deal will be worked to keep me here through 2011. :) |
Interesting. What's up with Springs?
Nothing, it's blantently apparent that you depth at corner in our defense if you are going to be successful. Remember last year? |
Re: David Macklin our new CB
ok, let me ask the obvious. can this guy play, or are we too worried about how much money the players are making?
|
Re: David Macklin our new CB
With a grade of 71 and his experience. Macklin is a solid pickup for depth, and they got him bargain priced.
Best of both worlds in my opinion. GOOD MOVE! |
Re: David Macklin our new CB
local guy from newport news i believe, adds some experience and depth. probaly a nickel guy at best, but i like this signing

Re: David Macklin our new CB
I have heard repeatedly that spring is not willing to rework his deal. In an interview he stated "I will be in Washington if they pay me what my contract says" I dont think he is going to do any reworking of any contract. If he was going to do that, I think he may have all ready done it.

Re: David Macklin our new CB
So what are our chances of trading Springs now? I find it hard to believe that the Skins aren't persuing that. We've got four guys who can start. Not the greatest in the world but all of them are starting quality on most teams. Four is a lot.

I get the feeling that Matty may be willing to convert a percentage of your enviable salary into a bonus to keep you happy. With all that extra you should be able to enjoy some of the finer window-service irish cuisine. |

The tricky thing with Springs is trying to predict the point in time at which Rogers' natural progression and Springs' natural regression will cross paths (assmuning that Rogers is good at all). At that point, keeping Springs on the roster (at least as a corner) doesn't make much sense. So if they get rid of him this year, its in essense a big gamble trying to predict that: a) Springs' production is about to fall off the map b) Rogers' production is about to spike c) a mixture of the two I wouldn't take that gamble just yet. I would keep Springs and Rogers as the starting corners to get another year of experimental feedback. If Rogers appears to be making progress and Springs appears to be slipping, I'd cut bait with #24 after this season. Cutting him now is just a big gamble, especially since teams in our division could have interest in him. |

Close. I was thinking along the line of a tee shirt to wash his windows! That should be plenty. Get what ya pay for! :spank: |
