I agree with Mathias. JC looked pretty darn good. He had some accuracy issues but I am more concerned with his composure and ability to run the offense right now. He was basically lights out on both accounts.
Who the hell is Mathias?

He's only 24 years old, and making just his fifth start, he's not going to look like Peyton Manning just yet. Just like with the rest of the team, have some patience. I think Campbell actually looks pretty good, and is gaining confidence, I love his rocket arm!
I noticed that on both balls that Campbell skipped to Moss (one of which should have been ruled a catch), his feet weren't set when he tried to deliver the ball. That's a footwork issue that Saunders and Lazar should be able to correct. One play that concerned me was the WR screen he threw to Moss. Campbell's windup delivery got the ball to Moss a beat later than Brunell would have, allowing the defender to get all over Santana as soon as the catch was made. Saunders should scrap that play until he tightens up Campbell's delivery.
Yeah, his delivery has some minor issues that I'm sure they coaches will continue to work on in the offseason. I suspect that they aren't really trying to address "tecnique" issues in the middle of the season, rather choosing to focus on the game plan and making sure Campbell is mentally prepared to play. With another offseason to work with knowing he's the starter I'm sure they will work with him to keep the ball off his hip and fire from his shoulder.

Regarding the skipped balls, it isn't perfect but I'll take it over sailing balls high any day. He reminds me a lot of McNabb from that respect. DMac will skip balls low when he is off.

Personally, I think Campbell is coming along slowly but surely. Don't underestimate playing experience as a teaching tool. Look at Alex Smith in SF. He's still not great but his comp % is up from 50% last year to low 60's this year. It just takes time.

I do think that he played good today, yeah he missed some throws but that will happen. A QB in the NFL will not make every throw during the game, all QB's admit that they have thrown balls that they would like to have back.

I love the idea of JC saying that he plans on training with Moss in the offseason. To me that is GREAT news!!!! Hopefully next year those two will have an awsome year....
I thought he played like absolute shit today, so many times he had recievers wide open and missed them by a long shot, I can remember 6 of these instances, maybe there were more. If we lost, all you guys would be all over him, but the fact is we only scored 16 points with Betts having over 150 rushing/screen pass yards.
Try making a thread where every single person doesn't disagree with you, okay?

he had a solid outing. only thing lacking was the accuracy on some of the shorter passes where he grounded them, but that can be fixed. he is improving

Re: Jason Campbell's performance today

For every one he over threw - there was one that hit the reciver in the hands (moss in double coverage - not saying Moss should have caught it, but it was great throw) , chest (Cooley across the middle of the field - he should have caught it), and LLoyd couldn't adjust to a perfectly thrown ball for a TD.

I thought JC was pretty good today

I love this guy, he's gonna be our next franchise qb. It's been so long that we've had a qb we could count on for the indefinite future.
Sure he missed some throws, but I love the way he gives his recievers a chance to make plays. Moss almost got that one on the sideline in between 2 db's.

He had a pretty good day. Missed a few that he should have had. We didn't really give him many shots in the red zone. I thought he looked good.

Re: Jason Campbell's performance today

The misses are a concern, especially the high one (coughRypiencough), but it's not anything that can't be solved during the offseason.

The TD pass to Moss was a thing of beauty. And during one of the drives, he was hitting guys in stride, and moving the offense along. If these are signs of things to come, this team is headed in the right direction.

Re: Jason Campbell's performance today

He was OK today but I have some concerns 1. He drops back like he is on Madden. He drops ten yards to throw it five. As he ages his arm strenght will not be able to get him through. 2. He needs to put some touch on the ball and don't gun it everywhere.

What are you expecting? Peyton Manning? Your looking at a 1st year starter in his 6th offense in 6 years. Yes he missed some open wr's but he also hit some too. He made some really nice downfield passes to Cooley and Moss. 13 competions for 202 yards is good. If that was Brunell 13 comps. would have been 80 yards. Can you AT LEAST see now that the offense is being opened up a little more? That the field is being stretched which helps the running game? When Brunell was the QB the othr teams were just daring us to throw it, stacking the line. Now with JC teams are starting to respect our passing game. BE PATIENT!

Betts only had about 120 yards. Secondly, what do you want from the kid. No turnovers. yeah he missed a few throws, but who doesn't. He made some very nice throws. Even freaking Joe Montana over threw some guys. I think you may be giving the guy a little to much crap. Ease up.
