Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS
What a game in just the 2nd week of the season. I know any time we play Dallas its a big game but we both are 0-1, coming off games we should have won, the looser will be 0-2 maybe 2 games behind first place and its on Sunday night primetime. Man I'm getting pumped up just typing this up.
I agree that we should have won the game (if Santana Moss would have just held on to that TD pass just a little tighter) but do not agree that Dallas should have won their game. They flat out choked, Bledsoe drove the Cowboys over the cliff with those three interceptions. |
Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS
We have to win the trenches with our front four on defense. We are going to have to give a lot of assistance to Rogers, in covering T.O., and especially Wright, in covering Glenn. The Cowboys use a lot of 2-TE sets so our linebackers should be occupied as well. So, if we can't get pressure with our front four, we are going to struggle in pass coverage.
I strongly believe we should be stout in run-defense. If we aren't, there is simply no excuse. We also have to be able to protect Brunell from Ware, Ellis, and Roy Williams. If we can't protect Brunell in pass protection, it doesn't matter how fast our wideouts are. Finally, we need to play well on special teams, in terms of coverage and kicking. So, I'd say our keys to the game are: #1. Get to Bledsoe without having to bring 6 guys. #2. Protect Brunell. #3. Play well on special teams. |
Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS
I predict a Redskins blowout. At least a two TD margin of victory. The Defense will show up and the Offense will be unstoppable. We had so many people do so many wrong things that if half of them play like they are supposed to we'll completely dominate the cowboys.
I thought I'd write an unsubstantiated opinion on Sundays game since it has the same effect as my careful analytical approach I applied to the Vikings game. Hail to the Redskins!
Spoken like a Genius... |
Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS
My key to victory is for the defense to get to Bledsoe early and often.

Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS
I think Dallas takes us lightly and it bites 'em in the butt! I think we win 24-13.

Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS
the way I see it...when we have the ball, we pass and run until we get points, and when THEY have the ball we stop them from doing such things...period

Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS
This isn't a thread for predictions, but I'll take off my mod hat for a second and join in.
As much as I hate to admit it, I have a hard time believing that we will win this game by a significant margin (7+ points), if at all. I just think Dallas is too talented on defense and has too many weapons for our Springs-less defense to stop. I see us splitting the series with Dallas and I don't think we will be on top the first game. My guess is we lose 17-21. That said, I think we will have a good season and the team will actually survive a loss in Big D and the totally disproportionate pissing and moaning from the fans on Monday morning. This "must-win game" talk is B.S. There are no "must-win games" until you've lost 5 games. |

Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS
Defense: We need to be able to put pressure on Bledsoe with our front four. It's obvious that with Springs out out of the lineup it hurts our ability to blitz and leave our corners matched up one on one in coverage. That being said, when we do blitz guys need to step the hell up. Rogers especially.
Overall the defense needs to get stops. If we allow Dallas to convert on 50% or better on 3rd downs forget about it, it will be a very long night again. Offense: Better execution in the redzone is key. We can't come away with 3 FGs again. That's just not going to get the job done. I think we need at least 3 TDs in this game. That's not too much to expect from this group of offensive talent. The pass protection needs to shore things up. We had too many instances against the Vikings where Brunell was feeling the heat or getting flushed out of the pocket. The running game needs to get cranking early. I don't care who it is, Portis, Betts, or Duckett, someone needs to establish the run to help keep the Cowboys defense on their heels. Overall, the offense needs crisper execution and we need to play physical up front. |
Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS
Hey Matty, off the subject a bit, but what was your final prediction this season for the Skins, win-loss wise?
Did your feelings change after Monday night at all? |
Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS
Not sure if I ever made an official prediction. In my gut I guess I'm expecting 10 or 11 wins. Monday didn't change my opinion either. We have some work to do but I'm not jumping off a bridge after one game.

Re: KEYS TO PULLING OFF A WIN in DALLAS
Tackle. Their WRs and RB are too good for us to give up yards-after-catch.

If they go 0-3 (which I doubt) the % goes down to 4 and the season is pretty much done. This is very close to a must win game. |
