Filed to ESPN: Patriots released LB Adalius Thomas. Only question was when. And the when is now. Thomas now free to sign elsewhere. I imagine he is headed to Baltimore or the Jets, but would anyone hear take him? |
Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
Henderson would be great. I havent seen him play recently so I dont know how much he has left in the tank, but if he plays anything like his former self he's def worth picking up and putting in the nose. Haynesworth as a DE Henderson at the nose, this can be like the ravens having kelly gregg at nose and haloti ngota at end.
We wouldnt pick up Thomas. He seems to be disagreable with the coaches, which is something we are looking to shy away from. Plus he seems to be a shell of his former self. But it would be good to have someone familiar with the 3-4 on our team. Rotating in at OLB ILB and DE. Cant see him starting though. |
Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
I wouldnt take him. I'm fairly satisfied with our depth at OLB. I'm very concerned about ILB, thogh. Unless Riley is ready to start right away, we need to bring in a veteran 3-4 ILB.

I think you can never have too many LBs in the 3-4, however I see ILB as the bigger need. Although I'm sure he'll look at Baltimore or the Jets before any other team. |
Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
I think thomas would be a great addition to rotate with Carter. He would be better in coverage skills than the other playing that position becuase currently they are all DLine converts.

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
Does anyone think we should sign Adalius Thomas. He would be the perfect fit at Left outside LB. We would be nasty with him. We could then trade Andre Carter for what ever we get.

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
I still don't know what happened to Thomas up in NE. He was coming off a career "do-everything" year with the Ravens.
I bet he goes to NY Jets to be with his buddy Rex. As for coming to the Skins. Sure if the price is right, but I think right now we have a plethora of OLB/DE guys. Maybe he is an upgrade, maybe - two years down the road - he's not the force he was and would just retard the learning curve of the guys we already have. |
Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
Curious to see if we reach out to BJ Askew

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
TB released a bunch:
Adam_Schefter Bucs announced they have released FB B.J. Askew, DT Chris Hovan, G Shawn Murphy, P Sam Paulescu, G Arron Sears, and CB Stoney Woodson. I don't know any of them, but I guess Sears was drafted by Allen, anyone know if there is potential for either G? or the Punter? |

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
From Sears' wikipedia:
NFL career Sears was named the Buccaneers' starter at left guard from Week 1 and did not disappoint, garnering a 2007 NFL All-Rookie award for his efforts. Arron Sears has started all 31 of his career games in his first two seasons and has showed promise. On June 2, 2009, it was reported that Sears has a neurological condition sustained from a concussion. It is unknown as to the extent of the injury, but early reports are saying that it is possibly severe enough to be career-threatening. On November 17, 2009, Arron Sears was welcomed back to the Buccaneers. |
Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
I honestly think we should sign Adalius Thomas, Darren Sharper, TO, and hell lets get Henderson as a NT/DE, plus he played with Haynesworth in college.

I see nothing wrong with that! |
Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
I'd take a long look at Thomas, Sears and Henderson. No long term deals though.

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
Any worth picking up?
Bucs release DT Hovan, five others in post-draft sweep of roster I thought I read on ESPN that Bryant the WR was let go by the Bucs but I wasn't sure. This article does not mention Bryant. I know they threw his name out there, but I thought he was tendered which I couldn't see giving up draft picks for. If he was outright released then I was excited but I don't see that. |
Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
Bryant signed with the Bengals this offseason.

Sorry. I thought something like that happened but thought I'd look and ask again. I was half asleep last night but thought I saw it scroll across the bottom. Maybe it was just pointing out their departures. |
