I think re-signing Cooley was a good move at this point. I don't really expect much from him, but he should be able to help move the chains and provide some added leadership.

He might not contribute a ton, but it would warm my heart to see him have a helluva last season healthy.

Sad for Fred....
HAPPY for CC. Always regretted that he played in some pretty rough Redskin years and....Would Not have a chance to play with Robert.
How Stoked is he at the thought of playing on a high powered Offense???
Excellent!

Injuries happen in the NFL every week. That's why NFL contracts aren't fully guaranteed. I just hope Fred Davis can rehabilitate his injury and be ready for next season. Chris Cooley on the other hand is a welcome addition. I'm so glad that he waited on the Redskins and not sign with another team when he could have. He's certainly worth more than the veteran minimum.

Does Cooley still wear #47 or another number?
Did you know Kyle was responsible for:
- Global warming,
- negative adds in politics,
- the repression of Arab rebels in Syria, and
- the failure to use "whom" when appropriate.

The only reason he even exists is b/c of his Dad. Why if Mike Shanahan had never existed, no one would have even heard of Kyle.

<sigh> I hate Mondays on the Warpath after a loss.
He was a graduate assistant for one year at UCLA before Gruden gave him a job in the NFL. It had absolutely everything to do with his father. Hey good for him. Wish my father was an NFL coach. Dont kid yourself though his NFL existence has EVERYTHING to do with his father. It happens all the time - not just in coaching but in Hollywood and the music industry , etc etc. Big deal. I would give my kid a job like that if i had the power to do so also.

Oh - back on topic. I see like three good "coooooooley" yells this year and not much else. He just seemed soooo not himself twards the end and to think he is going to be anything more than what he was seems impossible to me. I have been really happy with Paulsen especially this past game. Very serviceable.
Cooley doesn't play special teams. So yeah, he'll be behind Paul.

edit: Not that I'm impressed with Niles Paul's transition to TE so far. Lot to develop on.
Im glad he will be behind Paul. Now when the ball goes through his hands someone will be there to catch it!

I like Cooley but he seemed totally shot last season. He claims he is healthy, and i know every soon to be ex-player always does, but if Cooley's play is servicable this year, any chance at all he stays on the team past this season? Cooley is only 30 and I'd really like to see him get in a few more years before having to retire. I think he would make a great backup..

Umm, couldn't we have looked for a younger faster tight end somewhere? How about calling up Kellen Winslow? Cooley's done. Yeah, it's good for those nostalgic fans here who don't want to move on and tickle their jollies by yelling "Cooooooley" on a 5 yard catch, but from a football move he does nothing for our offense but slow it down as he can't stretch the field.

Alfred Morris don't get hurt, we just might be calling up "Southeast Jerome".

He knows the offense and I think that's the main reason. But I agree, he's so slow now and seems to run with a limp.

Cooley was never very fast he just seemed to find a void in the D and then make people miss all in slow motion.

Why Kellen Winslow? Why someone with a bad knee who's been on three teams in less than two years and, despite being only 29 years old doesn't have teams knocking down his door?
