Apparently McDaniels is simply emulating Belichick. No pandering to superstars. |

Interesting accusation. That's as far as I'll go with it.
They're making some general assumptions and omitting a lot...and being naive as well But whatever |

Wow those 3-way scenarios are wild.

Apparently McDaniels is simply emulating Belichick. No pandering to superstars.
This clears things up, because someone "emulating Belichick" is emulating a jackass.
Jay Cutler Redskins GM Vinny Cerrato says Washington hasn't "talked to anyone" about acquiring Jay Cutler from Denver. "Jason (Campbell) is going to be our QB this season," Cerrato added. While the Skins didn't deny interest in Cutler, they have next to zero cap room. They've already made their big money purchase and Cutler isn't going anywhere without a new contract.
Profootballtalk.com is "hearing" that the Redskins have interest in Jay Cutler.
An internet rumor circulated Tuesday that a three-team deal sending Brady Quinn to Denver, Chris Cooley and Jason Campbell to Cleveland, and Cutler and Tony Scheffler to D.C. would be announced at 5PM, but it never was. PFT indicates that the Skins do have interest in Cutler, though. Perhaps Dan Snyder and Pat Bowlen will talk at the March 22-25 Owners' Meetings. That deal would wreck our team. |
Re: Seems like Cutler might be available.
anyone notice in that AP article they mention the cowpokes as a secondary possibility? Can you imagine the drama that would ensue thereafter? (to clarify, they just seemed to be listing teams that had cap space)
Our JC is definitely a team guy, at least publicly. That's one of the reasons Gibbs drafted him, he wanted a qb that doesn't need all the spotlight but can still make plays. Cutler was upset that they fired Shanahan, so looking back to that it's not too surprising that he's acting this way. Still, it makes him look like L. Coles. Maybe Pat Bowlen will end up sending him a flatscreen! |
Re: Seems like Cutler might be available.
Not to offer up a defense of JLC or anything, but that dude (who actually does work for a legitimate news outlet and presumably does actually have at least a few legitimate sources) cites a "source" and the guy is a pariah and a hack and we get LM's wonderful "source meter." But bleacherreport.com "the place for fan-journalists to create and critique high-quality sports analysis" cites an "inside source" and throws out a completely absurd trade and it receives half-a-second of credence? And I know almost everyone here called BS, but wow. The internet has apparently corrupted our collective societal ability to critique source material. Every man his own reporter, whether he have the training or ability (or basic literacy) to perform the task.

John Denny, you said: This is the first year he'll play in the same system for a second straight year since HS or damn close to it.
I thought JC played under AS for two yrs.
BHA, reliable sources on extremeskins.com are saying the skins are interested. Cutler was the 12th pick when he was drafted. If Denver would take our 13th overall pick plus maybe Brennan, it would be a good deal for us. We could then trade Campbell for a second rounder to help recoup the pick.
I would think our 13 for Cutler would be good enough since he was a #12 pick of the 1st round. Why would we give them Brennan aslo? Then give up JC for a 2nd round pick? Then all we would have is Cutler and Collins? No back up after Collins. I could see us throwing in Brennan and keeping JC or give them JC and keep Brennan. but no matter how you slice it what are we gaining? Cutler had the same or similar stats. Someone said Cutler is on the up swing. I would say so is JC. The first half of the yr he played lights out. obviously showing he can learn and has solved his interception problem or can solve it. but to bring in someone with the same stats is crazy. What does Cutler have that JC does not? as a reason to why we should get rid of JC who will be in the same system for a 2nd yr and will know it better. |

Well to be honest with you...I get most of my info from the internet and only believe it when it's reported by a reputable source. As a matter of fact the internet has had more info in regards to Skins interests and signings way before JLC, the WP, or WT. I've pretty much stopped reading the paper for info cause it's always old news. |
Re: Seems like Cutler might be available.
Although Cerrato said JC is our QB how do we not know that team officials did not call Denver to see what the asking price would be? Think about it...we could get rid of Collins and have two young QB's and bring in a late round QB for developement. I just don't see us trading away our future like some other town beat writers would have us doing.

I could'nt agree more. I would imagine a lot of scenarios are talked about by owners just to see what options are available. |

The year before he had a 3,500 yard season. So those are a few things. Right now JC is just a game manager and has only shown small flashes of being able to take over games. Both have great physical skills but right now Cutler is the better QB hands down. |
Re: Seems like Cutler might be available.
No, we can't afford him with our other pressing positional needs. Plus we are cap restrained with our high payroll.
