Re: Food Vices
2 things I learned about coffee today:
1. A standard cup of coffee is 6 ounces, not 8 ounces like for water or most other beverages. 2. I apparently drink coffee like a wussy. I was looking up how many tablespoons of grounds to use per cup, and most sites said 2 per cup. I have not even been using 1 per cup, and it tastes plenty strong to me. Since I like it just fine how I'm doing it, I might change to 1 per cup, but definitely not going to 2. Saving half my money. |

Re: Food Vices
Finally got my hands on some real deal sriracha, this shortage is no joke
All of the substitutes I've tried just don't hold a candle to the OG rooster sauce |
Re: Food Vices
Pastina too. My father in law has two boxes. Shit is like gold. I might ebay them.

Re: Food Vices
not sure where to put this
But Canes chicken has finally come to MD Man, this is the most overrated rated thing i may have ever eaten. And the "signature" sauce is just ranch and ketchup mixed together. It's good chicken fingers but don't be wasting your time sitting in some long line thinking you are getting some holy grail chicken fingers |
Re: Food Vices
Kind of weird that chicken has become such a big deal.
|
Re: Food Vices
Beat your meat (flatten your chicken breasts a bit), add a little light cooking spray on both sides, top both sides with this, pop in the air fryer till cooked how you like it. Homemade blackened chicken is done.
I actually like my chiken dry, so I cook it longer than most people. This would probably be great on salmon too, but haven't tried it yet. |

Re: Food Vices
Anyone have some random, non-universal, Thanksgiving foods that you have every year? I'm so basic on Thanksgiving. Just keep the cranberries away from my plate.

Holidays aren't really a big-deal to me any more either, except for Thanksgiving. I don't do anything crazy, just hanging with my old roommate, but I still look forward to it ever year. The 4-day weekend is probably a huge part of that. |

Not Thanksgiving, but I’ve always wanted my girl and her mom to do the seven fishes dinner of Christmas. Their Italian and heard her mom talk about preparing it back in the day. |

Re: Food Vices
How do people eat cottage cheese? I am trying to do basically Adkins and am trying to limit artificial sweeteners as much as possible. So I tried mixing some cottage cheese with greek yogurt, and I just can't w/ that texture. It's such a perfect protein meal, but I just can't eat it.

Apparently not. Food is probably the 1 thing I don't buy online. That and big electronics like a T.V. |
Re: Food Vices
Pre-made/bought hard-boiled eggs. Whoever makes the pre-made ones you buy at the grocery store, does a phenomenal job, always peeled perfectly. I try to make them myself and the eggs end up w/ more craters than the moon by the time they are peeled. It's a tad more expensive to buy them already made, but saving the hassel is worth it imo.

Re: Food Vices
A pressure cooker is a game changer for hard boiled eggs, the shells come off so easy

I just went on a 3 day, 2 night, hiking trip in the N.C. mountains. Had these for dinner both nights:
Surprisingly, pretty good (considering it's freeze tried and edible for like 40 years lol). |

Man I love Asheville. Last time I was there… a couple years ago…I finally checked out mt. Mitchell https://www.ncparks.gov/state-parks/mount-mitchell-state-park It’s awesome climbing to higher altitude and watching the terrain go full balsam forrest. |
Re: Food Vices
Tried out some Dave's Hot chicken last night, man I'm paying for it today. Not sure I dare to eat the leftovers. Next time I'm going with medium.

Egg salad is so underrated.
Not the shit at the gas station either, I'm talking about making it at home, tossing in some green olives and some dill, pure heaven on toast |
