Can't find details of his contract, do we have an idea ? The fact that he wasn't signed by anybody else must have allowed us to sign it on the cheap, doesn't it?
I assume we're not spending big on him, and not guaranteeing much of it either, so yeah, we'll have competition at LG, which is good, I hope Sean Welsh wows every body and wins the job.
Haven’t seen numbers but I suspect you’re right, it must be close to vet min. |

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
I really can't understand why Vegas gives us such a shitty chance. I can't argue that we should be viewed as a definite top 6 in the NFC (playoff team) but to be so low just doesn't make sense.
I feel like Vegas isn't appropriately recognizing the impact of the injuries on our team last year. Either that or they don't like Alex Smith. I just can't make sense of it. I don't see how we're not at least 8-8 this year. |

How can you have the giants and boys ahead of us when they both had crappy seasons too, Dallas lost their best 2 pass catchers and really didn't replace them... Also having the Niners that high is a joke. |
Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
They might ranked us too low, but to be honest, I don't blame them.. The last time we had a winning record is back in 2012 with 10-6. Yes we went 9-7 in 2015 but we were one loss away from .500 that season. Until we can show everyone that we can win consistently, they all always are going to rank Redskins low.

? 9-7 by definition is a winning record |
Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
The only way I can think to reconcile it...
They may think there's a high chance we'll be mediocre, but a low chance that we'll be shitty and a low chance that we'll be good. So when they make odds of us making the NFC championship they think our chance is bad, but it doesn't necessarily mean they think we'll be the 4th worst in the conference. They might just think they have a really good idea of what we are - a seven-to-nine win team. |

Next time we finish 8-8 I’m counting that as a winning record since it’s only 1 win away

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
You are right about true definition of winning records if we want to get technically with definition. I just don't see it that way. 9-7 means nothing if we don't go deep into playoffs. We can go 9-7 in a row for few years without playoff wins, would we be content with that? I highly doubt that.
Granted, we are talking about winning record specifically so I suppose you guys are right about this. |

As for Vegas, I think we have risen slightly above Cleveland level, but we still haven't had a playoff win since '05, so I can understand their skepticism. I would like to think with all the changes, and all the stability, we have a good few years for certain on the horizon, but the team still has to put it all together and be consistent about it. |

They could have went and got a guard or corner but instead went BPA and got a backup LT/RT. With Trent's injuries we need a guy who can step in. I'd expect Christian to play a lot this year. |

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
Bovada just came out with the over under season win totals.
We are at 7. Their number on us last year was 7.5. The super bowl odds are kinda a long shot bet. The over under is a much better indicator of what Vegas thinks. I don't believe 7 is a huge slight. I think we will go over. I did last year too and was so pissed after the giants game if you know what I mean. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk |

His new contract averages $28 million per year, by far the highest of any UFA that changed teams. That should land the Redskins a pick near the top of the stack of the seven third-round selections awarded, almost assuring them a comp pick in the top 100. In addition, the Redskins will get a fifth-round pick for losing OL Spencer Long and two sixth-round selections for losing WRs Ryan Grant and Terrell Pryor" Pretty awesome we get compensation for garbage like Ryan Grant and Terrell Pryor. That being said...outside of Interior Oline questions which are 100% legit with starters at LG and C...WR has the be the second area of the team Im moderately worried about. Our coaching there has been poor to match the performance of the group. Make or break for Doctson and Crowder, done with both if no improvement with either. |

TE, QB,OL..... BPA on defense. It is nice to have 11 picks at the start, maybe they trade up if they love a player. |

We also need Paul Richardson to come in and do what he got paid for, stretch the field so crowder and doctson can work underneath.

Re: Redskins Offseason Thread
Doug Williams getting some love. What do you think of this quote, is this a good thing or a bad thing?
"Just like in 2017, the Redskins had an excellent draft, but they don't get a lot of credit for it because their staff doesn't lobby the national media to give them praise like other teams and general mangers." Read more:*http://walterfootball.com/draft2018awardstopnewcomer.php#ixzz5F1hwhRU3 Also, All over Twitter, they're letting Scott Campbell go, apparently Kyle Smith was given some of his responsibilities for this draft and likely is getting promoted. With speculation about Bruce leaving soon, I could see a front office change up in which Dougie Dubs becomes GM or President or whatever and Kyle Smith becomes VP player personnel or whatever they decide to call everything. He was signed away from us before May 8, even though it was voided. Does the contract have to be in place as of May 8? Assume that Indy cuts Grant in August, would we still get the pick? Not sure how this works, but if anyone knows, I'd be grateful for the education. |
