Clearance sale in Dallas!
The Cowboys have reportedly put DE Marcus Spears, LB Bobby Carpenter, S Pat Watkins, G/C Cory Procter, and WR Sam Hurd on the trade block. The former two were first-round picks. Spears was outplayed by his backups a year ago, and may be available for a late-round pick. Carpenter could appeal to 4-3 teams that play a less physical style of defense. Watkins is highly athletic with incredible size, but highly prone to injury. Having signed their tenders, Procter and Hurd are free to be moved immediately. Most of those players are crap, but Hurd would be a nice pickup (and Spears would have been fine -- pre-Carriker).

Slowly breaking up the best line in the NFL?
Faneca gone after draft? 2:50 PM ET Alan Faneca | Jets Top Email Within a breakdown of some as of yet unreported names that could be traded this week, Michael Lombardi of National Football Post included New York Jets guard Alan Faneca. Furthermore, Lombardi wrote, Faneca is "the first to go after the draft." Faneca is on year No. 3 of a five-year, $40 million deal. In spite of Faneca's skill level, we're not sure that any team would be interested in trading for a 34-year-old O-lineman with that kind of contract; because of this, the waiving option is more likely than a trade. The other logical extension of this rumor is that the Jets are likely to draft an interior lineman or two this weekend, possibly as early as their first overall selection at No. 29. Possibilities there include Florida C/G Maurkice Pouncey and Idaho G Mike Iupati.
|

Taylor feels that Miami won't pick him up again so he goes to the rival and tries to twist Miami's arm into making a decision and keeping him. Miami plays the games for about 2 weeks and finally says no we don't want you. Mean while the Jets are treated to "oh wait Miami is interested in me and I really hate the Jets and don't want to be one so let me see if Miami will take me back." Only to be rebuffed by Miami. lol. If I was a Jet I'd boo that mother every time he got on the field. |

I don't like Cerrato but this is the type of inside info I'd love to hear. He needs to write a book. I mean if he wants to make decent money I'm sure many of us would pick up the book to learn why certain picks were picked and why others were ignored. Maybe even some inside info on how certain players are or acted while with the Skins.

Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
The last link in the AH/PFT story is also funny:
A year ago, then-Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin was the subject of trade talks with the Titans. The deal never materialized because the Cardinals didn’t want to give Boldin away for cheap. He was traded to the Ravens this offseason instead. Before that, the Titans entertained the idea of trading for then-Chargers running back Michael Turner. They also had trade talks in the past about former Lions and Raiders receiver Mike Williams, who eventually joined the Titans after the Raiders released him.
Basically the Titans want to talk to every named player but rarely are willing to pay for them. What could they offer us in return for AH? They say they won't give the 1st rd pick(#16), they don't have a 2nd either, so it would be the 3rd round pick. If Shanahan/Allen did that deal that would be pure unadulterated boneheadedness. But the Titans will talk like they want him, because at that price, they do. The AH stuff just reeks of Media driven speculation, one article quoting another ad infinitum. Schefter on Sirius today said he had 2 different Redskins source again state that AH isn't going anywhere. He acknowledged that they could be putting up a smoke screen, BUT he didn't think they were. Either way, the time is getting short and we will all know soon. |

Haynesworth is a dominant player and has a cheap contract. So the key is "if we want to unload him for cheap". To me that means if we just want to get him out the door for virtually nothing, they will accept him. Duh. I don't think a second round pick along with another pick is exactly "cheap". If we want to dump him for a low round pick, there will be a lot of teams interested. |

Sam Bradford PFT Lol did I miss anything :D
He has a point about TMZ and PFT. You've gotta be naive (or a gossip-seeking woman) to believe those sites. We don't need Bradford either! :D In other news, seems like Haynesworth may go for only a 3rd-rounder. I hope he has to pay some of his guaranteed money back or we'll be losing a ton.
Albert Haynesworth The Titans have been in discussions with the Redskins about Albert Haynesworth "leading up to" the draft. The report is from the Nashville Tennessean, though it was tucked matter-of-factly into a Haynesworth blog post. Beat writer Jim Wyatt believes the chances of a Haynesworth trade are increasing, and Tuesday's Adam Carriker acquisition could be the impetus the Redskins need to pull the trigger. The Titans don't seem likely to overpay, so a third-rounder could be enough to get it done. Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 5)
This is a bit off-topic, but if there is no CBA extension, there won't be a draft in 2011. So what happens if we trade Haynesworth for a 3rd in 2010 and a 2nd in 2011? do we just not get the pick? or would we get the pick in the first year that the draft returned?
I guess the same principle would apply to the McNabb trade. If there's no draft next year, do we ever have to give the eagles another pick? |

when you look at ALOT of the reports, they stem from PFT or JLC, both of whom, as has been discussed a ton, are notorious in the way the present the information. It's a simple media spin cycle, and the reality gets washed out of the picture. Matty summed it up very well in the other thread. |

Lions would have a much better chance offering their third. It's early enough that you could argue it being similar to a late second round pick sort of like how the Eagles are arguing they got a late first for McNabb. |
