You are right with the midget but I've always typed it migget. There was a good SKINS turnout.
Ive seen other people like in the game day thread writing migget - I had no idea what they meant - I kept thinking of Dave Megget. LOL - just figured out it was for midget. |

Why does the Madden thing come up so much? I've never played it, haven't had video games since Sega lol. Can you really learn that much from a video game?
No, you cant learn that much from it, thats the joke about it. But there are some people who believe that building a team in Madden - Franchise Mode is similar to building one in real life. Problem being that they have to have a computer weigh trades and you can manipulate the system unlike what will happen in real life. |

I dont think anybody over the age of eleven actually believes that. Its just become the cliche thing to say when somebody second guesses anything our coach or FO ever does. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think Logan is going to surprise some people.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ive talked to and overheard conversations from random people well over the age of 11 that have referenced Madden when discussing how bad Vinny must be, or how bad Jerry Jones must be, ect. I have always been dumbfounded when Ive heard it, but I have heard it. |

I think so to, he stepped it up in the game after Davis left. |

So do I actually. He has always been a decent blocker, but I never realized how good his hands seem. I dont recall seeing him drop any passes, but he just never got enough of them to think he would make a good receiver. He also sat down in a few zones against the Giants keeping himself open by maintaining his distance from the defenders. Hes certainly not fast, but neither is/was Cooley. |
Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
Hey, am I missing the thread where someone gets the all-inclusive NFL All-22 tape and reviews specific plays? I know it takes a ton of time to go through.. Something like, "Smoot lays the Smack down", or the other breakdowns.. Thought with the All-22 would change things in terms of hard-core fandom, but I haven't seen it yet.. Ironic because we have one of the best teams we've had in a long time, and more tape available than ever before..

Well truthfully if the comment was that someone said they could be a better gm than vinny or jerry because they are really good at madden id be willing to listen to that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

You bring up a good point, and one I've thought about asking in a new thread. We just don't get much detailed post-game analysis here anymore, and I'm mainly referring to GTripp's breakdowns on offense and defense and then all the discussion therein. Not so much the Smackdown threads actually because there wasn't much in-depth analysis. But I miss the breakdown threads a ton...they were my favorite for a long time. |
I have the all 22, I got it with the intention of doing a weekly review, but life has got in the way for now. Maybe next season. It's well worth the money though. I definitely recommend it.

Yeah we could certainly dive into game reviews during the offseason. There's plenty of down time before the draft. |

Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
I don't know if I hate the Giants more than I hate their fans. They are some bragging trash talking bastards. I mention Clinton Portis, and a NYG tells me how Portis is washed up and ringless. So arrogant and big headed because they've won 2 Super Bowls in five years. They also won't shut up about Cruz's TD pass from Manning scored on Wilson and Williams. I talked up my Redskins though....
|
Being from NJ there is nothing I like more than beating the Giants. That being said Portis is definitely washed up and definitely ringless. Lol. As for their two superbowls in the past five years - ummm - where do I sign my team up?

Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
The Smackdown threads were never meant to be in-depth analysis.
SS33 had the best post-game analysis here, I imagine it'd be even better if he actually had all-22 film access all these years. There's a site called All22FilmRoom.com (I think that's the name) that has links to play breakdowns from all around the league |

Probably the biggest thing I noticed this year is how complex our schemes are (which is both good and bad) compared to everyone elses. Also, Fletcher can't run anymore...yet, he still seems to make the tackle every play anyway. |

Do all the players seem to be able to follow the schemes? Or, in your opinion, is the complexity leading to breakdowns? How often? I am assuming this would be the "bad" part. I, too, appreciated SS33's and your analysis. I just never had the time to really sit down and break down tape. |

While I don't agree with some, that this offense is bland/predictable, I don't know if I'd go as far as to call it complex, though I don't have all-22 and what do I know. Seems like you think all-22 is worth it though, which package did you end up choosing? |

Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
Most true fans have a dirty little affair going on the side. Mine is the Raiders. Im always rooting for those stinky raiders since the early 80's even though the beat us in the SB. Hell most of their roster over the years have been flooded with ex Redskins.
|
Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
lol.. i never got that either
|
Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
When I lived in New York my second team was the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets. Now that I live near New Orleans my second team is the Saints.
There is never any conflict or question for me because I know I will root for the Skins even against my second team. |

Are you saying alot of true fans have the sidekick team or to be a true fan you must have a sidekick. I am 41 years old and i have lived in Dolphin country / Raider/ niner country / giant / eagle country. have met alot of peole. I can think of one rite now that has two favorite teams. He is a skins/ steelers fan actually. Im gonna have to reach out to him this week. Personally i cant even imagine following another football team in the slightest. With me it comes down to who I hate the least if there are other teams on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Of course I am ;) I've been through a few 2nd favorite teams in my lifetime. The old Browns, the Oilers/Titans. All for a reason. But you spend 6 years in the NY/CT area and you get immersed in Giants/Pats/Jets news. I kind of embraced the Jets. And it's stuck with me But the gap between the Redskins and Jets is HUGE for me |
Re: Skins/Giants post game thread
I dislike all of the other 31 teams except when they play the Cowboys.
I don't understand why you'd share your love. Question for Smootsmack: Why did the Redskins let Horton go? Is he in game shape and/or what's he doing these days? I'm asking you as you always have the inside scoop and I think that (unless he really effed up) would be a great addition in the back field. Thanks in advance. |
